While honeymooning in Kauai, I was amazed by the beauty the island had to offer and felt as if my iPhone just wasn't doing a good job capturing the beauty around us. I was hoping for more than just a selfie pose of my husband and I in such a beautiful place and about midway through our week in Kauai, I started researching photographers. Lizzy was prompt in getting back to me and was very sweet over the phone, so while my husband wasn't so sure if we should shell the extra money out for a photography session, we went ahead and did it on a whim. Lizzy is very kind and friendly, making the session easy and lighthearted, not awkward. She picked a beautiful spot for us to have our photos taken in, and gave us great direction with poses. It really was a fun time and my husband left saying "I'm so glad we did that". The hardest part was waiting for the images to come through! She sends you a cd via USPS and it takes about 4 weeks, so we were so so excited to get our images in the mail. It's so hard to pick a favorite. It would've been nice to have received our images within the advised time frame of 8 weeks rather than 10 weeks. Liz was accommodating when I advised her that I was unhappy with some of the images. My husband and I booked our wedding photos with her last June and I still have them posted up everywhere in my home... even on my coffee cup :) I looked around for the perfect photographer and when I found her site I just prayed that she wouldn't be booked. Wow! I am blown away with the photos from our wedding! Liz did a phenomenal job. She was extremely professional. She arrived early to the wedding and stayed after her contract time to ensure we got our sunset photos. She was assertive with the group to make sure we got all of the family photos and was creative and energetic while directing poses. Liz was amazing capturing our memories during our wedding ceremony at shipwreck beach. When we met Liz she was very nice and started taking pictures right away. She showed us her favorite spots to take pictures and guided us through the poses. Taking into consideration it was our first photo session with a professional photographer, she put us at ease. In a couple of days after the session, she sent us sample photographs that blew my mind. I didn't receive the final cd with images yet but I can only imagine how beautiful those are going to be. My husband and I absolutely loved having Liz serve as our wedding photographer! As a trained photographer myself, I knew choosing an outstanding photographer was going to be the biggest challenge in planning my wedding in Kauai. When I came across Images by Liz on the web, I just knew I had found my perfect photographer. I immediately contacted her and being that we were getting married in July, I was hoping she was available. We were so lucky she was. She and I talked in advance about what we were looking for and since we didn't have the exact location picked out, she helped walk me through some of the better beach locations on the island. We were staying on 'Anini Beach and I had no idea that it would be the perfect location for our wedding. When Liz and her assistant arrived that evening of our wedding, we immediately clicked - it was as if I was having my best friend taking the photos. Her photos of the wedding really told the story. This was especially important to us since my husband's family was not in attendance and we wanted to share with them as best we could our special day. Her assistant was also so nice in that she picked up our video camera and helped take some video of us during the ceremony. Her radiant personality was a hit with our family and made the entire experience so comfortable. Posing for so many photos can be a daunting task, but she walked us through the process and made it so easy. She was even able to get some great photos with my then 2 year old nephew (kids are not the easiest to photograph). I have one of our wedding photos on my desk at work and I have received more comments about how beautiful the photo is (it's my Yelp profile photo). Everytime we look at our photos, we are taken back to that day almost three years ago and able to remember just how wonderful it was. I was impressed with the amount of time it took for us to get our photos. Many photographers will tell you six months. Two months was perfect for us. I cannot say enough good words about Liz and her photography. My husband and I want to return to Kauai in another few years. This was my second wedding and because I didn't want all the hoopla that came with a traditional wedding, we chose an intimate destination wedding this time around. That also meant planning from afar. The most important thing to us was the photographer so that our families could really experience the ceremony and the day even tho they wouldnt be able to be there. After reading online reviews and looking at numerous photographer sites, I decided to go with Liz. All I had to go off of at first were her images so when I called to see if she was available for our day, I was very excited. And after communicating with her via email and a couple of phone conversations, I was even more excited. Liz was not only a talented photographer, she is so personalble and you can tell she has a passion for her work. I didnt want someone who considered our special day a dime a dozen. Liz actually became my personal advisor when it came to choosing the rest of our wedding day vendors (officiant, florist, and restaurant)--all of which I was very pleased with as well. I have had nothing but positive feedback on our photos from friends and family. Our parents actually commented that they felt like they were there just by looking through the photos. Our pictures are all spectacular, and so was the experience of taking them. We were pressed for time after the ceremony but still got some location shots in. A couple days later Liz called to say that she wanted us to have a great sunset pic because she knows thats a main ingredient of a Hawaiian destination wedding. She said she wasnt sure we'd captured that so she offered a short reshoot session before we left. My husband was resistant because it wasnt the "day of" and I thought we should at least do it and if we didnt like them, no one had to know. However, I must say we were both SOOO happy we did it because we got a great sunset shot and its the one my husband shows to everyone :) I'm not really sure why the one reviewer wasnt happy with their photos as I didn't see them, however I do know from the experience of 2 of my own weddings as well as friends' weddings, most of the pictures will not be one to display. You're going to choose a few that capture the day. Maybe the others will be in a book, but how often is that really looked at? I can't imagine having that many photos (even more than we had out of 2 sessions!) and not being satisfied. I also know Liz is so nice and has a good heart and she would do whatever it takes to make it right (such as an additional shoot just to make sure!) Overall, I am extremely happy with our photos, our experience and the price. Her work is great and I am very happy to have a wonderful, comprehensive set of photos to look at and remember the day! Liz was able to capture amazing images from each key moment of the wedding, including some candids that will be on our wall for years to come. She had an amazing eye for capturing the unique moments of our wedding in a very artistic way. We asked her to do some post processing on selected images and were very happy with the result. One of the things that really impressed us was her sense of how to orchestrate the shots without being intrusive into our experience of the day. During the ceremony and party Liz and her team found great angles without getting into the way. During the set shots, they efficiently wrangled all the major groups from our fairly large wedding party and produced a set of priceless shots of folks that will probably never come together in one place again. My husband proposed in Feb 12' and we decided to elope during our Kauai vacation in April 12'. As it was just my husband and I that would be going to Hawaii, we placed the most importance on selecting the perfect photographer so our family members could share in the ambiance of our special day. Being that I absolutely hate getting my picture taken (I am ridiculously unphotogenic)- I started obsessing about finding the perfect photographer. I began my research, looking at numerous photographer's websites- until I came to the Images by Liz page. Her pictures immediately captivated me. It was obvious that she had a natural talent in capturing people's candid moments vs. making people pose in unnatural poses. Her pictures were no less then perfection and I had found my photographer. My husband came home and I gave him a list of 10 photographer websites (Images by Liz being number 4 on the list) to see if we were in agreement. My husband started going down the list and as soon as he got to Liz's page, he stopped and said he didn't need to look at the others. My husband is an art major so I wasn't sure how critical he was going to be but he was just as impressed as I was. We called Liz to see if she had availability, and luckily we were able to secure her services. After speaking with Liz, I was even more impressed. She happily listened while I talked her ear off about my expectations. She was so ridiculously kind and she made me feel even more confident in my decision. Knowing that I would be in Hawaii for my wedding alone, and getting ready alone, she even offered to have her and her assistant come early to HELP ME GET READY!!! AND she insisted they pick me up and take me to the beach where my husband was waiting on my wedding day (I was going to take a cab). Talk about going above and beyond! Throughout our picture session, Liz let us be ourselves and captured genuine feelings/emotions. I LOVED that she never tried to "pose" us. She did make suggestions, when asked - since we purchased a 2 hour session just to take pics of my husband and I :) Her assistant kept running over to me to fix a piece of hair, or adjust my dress and jewelry. I was so impressed by their diligence in assuring our pictures were flawless. I was so nervous as anyone is on their wedding day, but these two easily put me as ease with their kind, genuine nature. They had us laughing and smiling the entire time! We felt SO comfortable. The CD of the pics came so much quicker than I expected and WOW were we STUNNED by the final product. Liz took over 500 pictures and we LOVED every single one. I literally can't describe how amazingly beautiful they were. Her ability to capture our special moments we weren't even aware we had- her positioning, her angles, her use of the background landscape... perfect perfect perfect. We couldn't thank Liz enough! Liz and her assistant, Lea gave my husband and I the absolute best service we've ever received in our life. I used Images by Liz for my wedding back in 2008 after tirelessly searching for the best photographer around. Not just in Kauai, but all of Southern California also! I am a professional event planner in the LA area and have worked with dozens of photographers over the years so my expectations and standards were very high. I think I ended up interviewing every wedding vendor on the island and was disappointed by all but Liz. I ended up flying over my videographer, hair stylist, and makeup artist because I didn't trust anyone I'd met on the island. To say I'm picky would be the understatement of the century! It's always difficult to judge a photographer by their online portfolios since you know they are putting only the best photos, not a true sample of the proofs you will get from your session. I was blown away by Liz's professionalism and expertise but she's also very warm and personable which makes you very comfortable in the sometimes awkward moments of wedding photography! You will not regret having Liz as your photographer! I've been following her on Facebook and Instagram over the years and can say that she's only gotten better over the years. She started right in taking pics when she got to or condo, no time wasted! She was able to command our group well and clearly knew what she was doing. She was open to our suggestions and posed us beautifully, in a way that wasn't too stiff. Our wedding ran slightly behind so we missed some good sunset opportunities and Liz offered to do a second quick session with us a couple days later in a different location. I thought that was awesome. I see complaints about photos taking too long which I understand, but why y'all need em so fast anyway?? Lol. Some things are worth the wait. Me and my husband got married on August 19th 2014. On our wedding day Liz was great and very interactive and even offered to stay an extra hour over at no cost to catch some sunset pictures. We were told the advised time frame would be 8-12 weeks to receive our pictures. 18 weeks later, we finally received our pictures after numerous emails asking when we would finally receive our wedding pictures and being told they would be sent out "that week". We got over 600 pictures back, but about only half looked retouched. I'm very disappointed that these once In a lifetime pictures didn't turn out what we expected. We understand she's busy but to keep our pictures 6 weeks past due and not have them absolutely perfect is frustrating. read more

My husband and I were married on Kauai on September 8th, 2014. We hired Liz for 90 minutes for our fairly casual beach wedding at Ke'e Beach. about 10 minutes prior to the time Liz had agreed to meet us at the beach, we received a phone call that she was stuck in traffic. Nearly an hour later, Liz arrived and we were able to start our ceremony, although everyone was growing impatient and sweaty! During the ceremony and after, Liz was helpful getting people arranged and clearly knew what she was doing. The sunset was fantastic and after we were all finished, my husband and I had gotten over our frustration with her late arrival. She posted a few snaps on facebook a few days later and they were gorgeous. Liz told us she'd get the rest of the edited photos to us within 10-12 weeks. 10 weeks came and went, no pictures, 12 weeks came and went, no pictures, at 14 weeks, I called Liz and asked her when she would be getting us the photos, she informed me that she still had 5-6 other weddings she needed to edit before she got to ours. Being late to our ceremony, and then very late with the pictures was just too much, so I made sure Liz understood my frustration and got off the phone. Liz called me back apologetically and said she would have them in the mail that week. 10 days went by, no word from Liz, I had email her two more times before she finally got them in the mail. When we received the envelope I was so excited, but upon reviewing the pictures, hardly ANY of them were edited or retouched, it was as if she took the photos, copied them onto a disc and sent them...what's with the 17 week editing window? I hired Images by Liz for a family photo shoot for our once in a lifetime family trip in January. Only 6 of us (3 adult couples no children)...pretty simple...right? Liz insisted on a "sunset" shooting time even though I told her that I loved light, bright colors. She also kept taking "couple" pictures instead of group family and many were "kissing" shots (I guess she can only think of wedding poses). My mistake was not speaking up! My group family shots to choose from for enlargements are fair at best! Plus the coloration in the photos is so very poor!! The ocean has absolute NO BLUE color. The iPhone pictures that we took during the photo shoot are better than her photos! I complained to her about the lack of color and she sent me another disc that she increased the color. Now our faces look orange. I am so disappointed! Pay extra money if you have to and keep looking for another photographer!! read more
