Unlike most other churches that start as a…read moregrowing church, then settle & stagnate so they become more like a snobby country club (this church did it backwards)--they meet in a building that was once the Odessa Country Club! (Technically they started in some much smaller shopping centers before they got use of the Old OCC facility.) Have you ever been to a church whose baptistry is actually an outdoor swimming pool? This same "baptistry" is also used as a place to socialize for small group swim parties, youth group swim parties, etc. keeping this "baptistry" clean & usable is practically its own "ministry". I first started coming to this church while I was living in Midland, but working in Odessa. They have small groups available for closer connections, which has been one of the highlights of my entire life's church experience! They also have a very special & personal way of doing communion (or "The Lord's Supper"). They have communion on a weekly basis, which can get more routine at some churches. At New Life Church, they have various tables at the outskirts of the multi-purpose sanctuary (which has also held dances & other such receptions, especially in its days as a country club). And people can go to any table they choose, & it seems everyone at the table is free to participate & be spiritually uplifted. It feels more like a family sharing a meal together, rather than just another "religious ritual". The more you put into it & get involved, the more you get out of it. (True of plenty of things other than just communion!) Thank you so much, New Life Church, for letting me worship with you & be a part of your church family! That has to be a work of God. We have met Ben Burton [the leader of Beit HaDerekh] and Eric Aspeitia [member and also GLC TV host] and spoke personally for about 2 hours there at Beit HaDerekh. They are both kind, godly, and knowledgeable men. l live 2 hours away, but I will visit in-person again as often as I can.
