Despite claiming to be a fusion of Japanese, Thai and Chinese cuisine I think it was 80% Japanese, as were the staff. Not being hugely adventurous we had teriyaki chicken and sweet tangy lamb, which were excellent (could have been served hotter, my wife said). The desserts were good too my chocolate volcano was wonderful, just like the choccy pudding my old mum used to make (a tad pricey though at £4.95). A few minor gripes: our plates were whipped away as soon as we put down our knives & forks. They weren't doing it to hurry us despite being Saturday night they weren't that busy; it was just the staff's enthusiasm but it made us a trifle uncomfortable. The menus were largely in dark type on a black background all but impossible to read in the subdued lighting. And the 10% added to the bill for service is a habit that I thought had died out. I prefer to decide for myself how much of a tip I want to leave, and make sure it goes to the right person. As an aside: why don't foreign restaurants get a native English speaker to proof-read their menus? Some of the errors can be hilarious!

There is always a friendly welcome from the staff who can not do enough to make sure your visit is enjoyable. The prices are very reasonable and the food is always first class. We have eaten there on many occasions over the years and have never had a bad experience. The sweet and sour sauce is to die for, and some locals actually ask for extra containers of the sauce to take home with them and some freeze them for when they want to use them. This restaurant also offers a take away service as well, and the food also meets the same high standard as their in house dishes. The good luck is an enjoyable experience for all the family with traditional Chinese dishes as well as more english dishes also catered for on the menu.

Instead, you order from an extensive a la carte menu, all the usual dishes you would expect in a Chinese plus some specials. I particularly like the sizzling dish Steak in a pungent sauce. Wonderful description and food! The food is high quality and freshly cooked to order. Clean linen tablecloths, chopsticks and bowls supplied if requested. Service is friendly and informal. Wash the food down with their wonderfully dark Syrah Rosé. I'm sure London has better Chinese restaurants but I haven't been to a better one in this price range in Kent yet.

You have the option of ordering the meal you want, or you can order buffet style. But rather than going up with your plate to a buffet station, you order the buffet cooked fresh. They limit the amount you can order at a time (dependant on the number of people at the table) but you can always order again, it is all one price, and this prevents over-ordering and food being wasted! The food is always cooked fresh, lots of choice, absolutely lovely. It's been a while since we actually went to the restaurant, as having recently had a baby means we are not going out all that often! So we thought we'd try Beijing Inn's delivery service. So far we have not been disappointed. They are excellent on the phone, have delivered within the time they said every time so far. I have eaten in many of what are described as London's finest Chinese restaurants and the Royal Inn is at least as good as anything I have eaten in London. Although "hidden" from the main shops on the high street in Longport it is in fact only a five minute walk from the high street and I would personally rate this as one if not the best restaurants in Canterbury.

When dishes arrived, portion not big, smaller then usual takeaway portion. Chicken ball size normal, however, I could only find a little tiny tiny probably a chicken meat inside this so called Chicken Ball. Seafood Udan was really unbelievable. Only few little cube of vegetarian crab stick in this so called Seafood dish. No prawn, no shrimp, no any kind of real seafood. Extremely disappointed. Absolutely not worth and never go again
