Have you ever eaten somewhere and thought how do they do this night after night . Seamless service,…read moreperfect pacing between courses , and impeccably prepared food. My dinner at the Chateau was actually my first time dining in a Chateau. My abroad bae knows how fancy my taste buds and dining approaches are so I was super excited when we finally arrived . A 9pm reservation on a Sunday seemed like the worst idea but I was slightly jet lagged so a late start to dinner was exactly what I needed to get my body in tune with the 6 hour time difference. We started our 5 course tasting with an amuse bouche. What followed were 5 amazing courses each better than the rest . We decided to order a bottle of wine instead of doing the pairings and the sommelier did an amazing job finding a wine to suite our picky tastes. He also made an additional recommendation for the meat eaters Dutch Venison course. The scenery , ambiance , meal, service and company will forever a great memory for me . I'm not sure if I'll ever get the chance to go back but I would gladly accept an invitation.

This is absolutely not a place you should dine at casually or without reservations. However, if…read moreyou're looking to treat yourself to an amazing meal with excellent wine pairings then this is where you should go. The food is delicious (if expensive) and the service outstanding. Definitely a meal to remember in a historic château surrounding by beautiful views. P.s. If you show up early you can grab a glass of champagne in the Cháteau's wine cellar/cave.

Who uses white instead of rye bread? And if no Swiss cheese - leave the cheese as optional. No WiFi. Bet that's been a problem for a while. Add an undrinkable cocktail and you're starting to get the vibe. the most humorous bit was watching a brand new employee (being taught how to put on a half apron!) spill drinks on customers as her tray wobbled, predictably. They did a good job with the decor I will say. With that being said it is kind of smokey inside. Not sure what the deal is with the ventilation but you will leave smelling like smoke. As for the food, the Wings were some of the best I have had. They don't have a thick breading on them but they are smoked perfectly. The ribs were ok at best but kinda burned. I think the sauce they put on the ribs that burned in the smoker. The fries were good. Slaw was more mayo based rather than vinegar but didn't expect much with that. They also had Burrata as an appetizer which was interesting considering the concept but the preparation was delicious. If you are craving bbq check it out. Definitely order the wings they are the star of the show.

I am often asked how do I find the places I go....there are several ways. One of them led us to…read moreD'Artagnan and we were not disappointed. We had originally headed to the local family-run Bar Frape but were distressed to find it shuttered. Perhaps because they closed at 2000 and we were there shortly thereafter. Looking south along the river we spotted tables and chairs on the sidewalk so we headed in that direction. What we found was a trendy (and empty) bar that was obviously serving up what we were NOT looking for. That's when we spotted across the street what appeared to be a Eetcafe but upon further inspection found a joint billing itself as a Grand Cafe. Now, typically we steer away from Grand Cafes since our desire to impress is less than at times it should be. We have found Grand Cafes to not have any better food than Eetcafes and usually at twice the price. However, we decided to go outside our box and give it a try....and we are glad we did. Inside the D'Artagnan resembled more an Eetcafe than a Grand. While there was much more spit and polish than most Eets the atmosphere was that warm, comfy gezellig the Dutch are so wild about. We were looking for refreshment and a snack and ended up finding our favorite Dutch gin (2VC) which right then and there told us we were putting the rest of our evening on hold. We ordered the bouillabaisse and the anti pasta. Both excellent choices and between the both of us we could not finish. The bouillabaisse contained succulent portions of langostinos in a delicate seafood/tomato broth. The cheese bread on top was less a compliment than what was intended but good nonetheless. The anti pasta included ham, proscuitto, salami and pepperoni. Plus bread, olives, salad and scrumptious garlic mushrooms. With the exception of the pepperoni which was mealy, it was a great sampler. If you are not familiar with gezellig (gezelligheid) then you need to look it up or better, hang out here for an hour.... We will return.
