From the moment our first Spanish lesson began, we were speaking Spanish which I felt was a wonderful way of opening a door into a new language and culture. Our tutor was friendly, supportive and encouraging and by the end of the lesson of one and a half hours, we had already learned a number of Spanish phrases and words. The lessons move at quite a fast pace and are well structured and focused. It feels as if we are receiving one to one attention as the classes aren't too large which lends to each student getting the space they need to learn. I hadn't studied a language since my school days and got a lot out of the lessons and envrionment learning so much in such a short space of time. If you are looking for a language school that delivers, I highly recommend The Spanish House, London and you won't be disappointed!

I attended a Spanish course here and it was a real revelation. I had read some good reviews both on…read morethe language school's website and elsewhere but there's always that question in the back of your mind 'but will it work for me?' I can only say that it did and I put this down to the way in which every aspect of the course was designed to make comprehension of the language simple and to allow you to begin communicating in the language from the very beginning. By the end of the course we were all speaking in Spanish just as we were told we would be and every step of the process had been enjoyable and - crucially for me - confidence building. Because of the way you are taught you really are left with a clear sense of how to put the language together in a proper sentence so that you can really go out there and converse with other people. Perhaps I was just unlucky with the way that languages were taught when I was at school, or in the way they were then 'taught' to me at evening classes, but I feel that the Paul Noble Language Institute intensive Spanish course put all these previous experiences to shame. I remember reading a Paul Noble Spanish review on their website even after I had booked my place on the course and can remember thinking 'can it really be this good?' Well, it was. And I am left with a resultant feeling of being so excited about the language. I want to tell everyone about it and keep trying to get people to go and learn Spanish with them. I think that gives you an idea of the sort of feeling the course gives you. Inspiring!

I did some French at school and have also since tried with some textbooks at home but I always seem to just end up learning words but not really how to speak the language. The weekend French course that the Paul Noble language people run had a really different effect to this though. It has actually left me being able to use my French, by which I mean that I can now (finally!!) string a proper sentence together and make myself understood when I'm speaking to someone French. Instead of pointing at something and saying "bread" or something like that, I can now actually express something quite complicated, in correct French, and be understood. This is what I most wanted to be able to do and it was exactly what I got. Recommended!!

Whilst my fellow Yelper below has given you the heads up on their classes (which I have been told…read morefirst hand are very very good), I feel you also need to know about their food. Food you cry? Isn't this just another building like all the others in this square? Well yes it is, but if you're brave and venture inside, sign the guest book and then head downstairs, you'll find yourself a very little cafe! I used to go here when I worked in Victoria - I was given a heads up by a local. You pay £5 for a plate and load up said plate with a range of Italian foods and dishes. It's great value! Even better in the warmer months when you can sit outside in their garden. Go on give it a go. It's different, it's quirky, and yeah it's probably wildly inconsistent from day to day, but it's a hidden little gem.

You can attend classes during the week or the weekend; sessions take place in the morning or the afternoon slot. Each class lasts for three hours with a nice 15 minute coffee break halfway through. All students can get amazing coffee from the cafe in the basement of the building so you don't have leave wondering anywhere for your break. And besides, all staff talks to you in Italian so you can practise even during your break. The Institute is situated on a beautiful Belgrave square right next to many European embassies hence why you can get google streetview working for that area. Just walk away from Victoria or Hyde Park Corner tubes so it's really easy to get to. My teacher rocks - she has so much patience for us and you can see that she loves teaching. Within weeks, I have picked up so much of new material without spending much time at home. Classes focus on all areas - speaking, writing and listening. There is plenty of group and pair work. And for eager students, there is also library with Italian books. Perfect for someone who wants to master the language quickly.

Teaching groups are usually quite small (no more than 14) and the different tutors are warm and knowledgeable. It can be a bit pricey but i think the quality is worth the money!

I'm learning Italian at International House and love the location and the learning structure…read more Although it can appear pricey there is the option to really break down your learning into six week chunks and there is moodle online for a back up if you have to miss a week. My teacher has been brilliant and manages to keep class energy pretty high, which can be tricky after a working day though the main thing is that my classmates have been lovely and we end up having a laugh (usually over not knowing the Italian word for something.)
