The salon is funky, lots of the crew have edgy hair and tattoos which meant as a slightly alternative person I knew I would get something that suited my personality to A tee. My hair was coloured cut and coloured by both Deen and Bow and I think it was such a great idea that they both specialize in one thing and work together to absolutely nail it, no one wants a jack of all trades yet master of none and you certainly won't get that here! Initially, my hair looked fabulous, however after the first wash more than half had entirely slipped out of my hair. I was shocked as I have worn tapes for five years, and this had never happened before. I promptly phoned the salon. I did not receive an apology, however Deen offered to reinstall at no charge. I was booked in for the following week - my hair would be washed and tapes reinstalled. To my dismay, they were installed in my greasy, unwashed hair. They were not cut and were left unblended and gappy. I purchased the recommended shampoo and conditioner to ensure that they would not slip out again. When it came to the first wash after installation, some slipped completely out again, and most had slipped down, giving the appearance of a 4 week re-growth. At this point, I was furious. I knew that I did not cause the tapes to slip. This slipping was the result of incorrect installation. I phoned Show Pony the tape supplier and discussed the situation them. They said their product is a superior quality tape, and that it must have been the fault of the hairdresser who failed to wash my hair and installed the tapes in greasy, dirty hair. I visited the salon again. I greeted Deen, and advised that I would wait in the seating area until he was free to discuss. He insisted that I speak to him whilst he was cutting a customer's hair. I proceeded to explain how upset and inconvenienced I was that this had happened twice. He advised that the hairdresser (Kate) that did my hair is a subcontractor and that it was my responsibility to chase the $180 refund from her directly, and that it had nothing to do with him as the salon manager. I was lost for words upon hearing this. He was defensive and told me that I had no right to "barge into his salon demanding a refund" and that I had "a bad attitude". I cannot begin to explain how appalled I am that I was spoken to so badly, and on display in front of other customers. I have written this same review on other sites to which they abusively and untruthfully wrote back to me. Very disappointing and unprofessional, however I didn't expect much more to be honest.

The front desk staff are friendly and there's a good range of magazines to read while you wait. The store looks clean and hygienic and the waxers are good at what they do. Usually they chat away about weekend plans and holidays etc which takes your mind off the indignation and anticipatory pain. Speaking of which, BB has the least painful waxes I've had and they offer great tips about how to maintain your new 'do. They also sell some cheap (but good) post-waxing products. I wish these stores were in the US.

He asked me what I wanted and what were my main concerns with my hair. I gave general information like oily, short, asymmetric and easy to maintain and a classy junky touch. I left the salon feeling like I found myself!! I never been so enthusiastic about a new hair cut : it is unique, feminine and suits me perfectly! My hair is the source of many compliments, and has even been literally 'patted' by a few celebrities. Elio is an amazing cutter. Trained in the heyday of fringes, bobs, bottle blonde and pixie short crops, no matter which head he touches, the results are always A+. The salon is modern, but low-key and very reasonably priced. They use L'Oreal Colour, and stock a good range products for purchase from Label M, GHD and L'Oreal. I have never once in 14-years been pushed to buy product, or even had it brought up without me asking! A fantastic salon experience.

Best thing it is on 109 tram line that intersects with the 78 tram that goes along Church Street. Combine the trams at door the 8pm weekday closing is very convenient for us city office workers. $15 men's cut for my style is great. Take cash as no cards taken but don't despair NAB ATM next door.
