New to this gym and a couple of weeks into it. I get a work out in the morning before work. So far my experience has been positive. I appreciate how each time I've been here, the staff is always cleaning and making sure equipment is in their right place (aside the dumb bells... wish members would be better about re-racking in the proper place) Going early in the AM, i usually wrap up with my work out when the morning crowd starts to fill up so I've never really had an issue with machines or equipment being tied up when I want to use it. If I had to be picky, the aqua bag has been out of order for the time I've been there, would be nice to repair or replace this so it can be used. read more

If we did not have our own 7 year old daughter, we would have never found out my 9 month old daughter fell out of her wagon under their care. They lied 4 times total to about the situation. So I spent 20 minutes And $10 on this. The girl making it was too busy talking and laughing with the ONE customer she had before me and my friend. NO eye contact the whole time we were waiting, not a word said to us. Just lots of laughing and ignoring. **Misleading Membership Practices & Breach of Contract - Members, Know Your Rights** As a long-standing In-Shape member under the East County Network, I feel obligated to alert fellow members to a serious breach of contract and misleading business practices by In-Shape Family Fitness. According to both In-Shape's own website and my signed membership agreement, the East County Network includes Antioch, Brentwood, and Concord. However, I was only granted access to two clubs; Antioch and Brentwood, while being denied access to the Concord location, which is clearly listed as part of the network. Nowhere in my contract does it state that Concord is excluded. In fact, Article 2, Section 4 of the agreement clearly states: "If this membership is at a 'Network' level and includes access to fully operating ISFF clubs, Member agrees that Member's membership is based on the immediate availability of the Network of clubs selected, and not upon any particular or individual club..." This means access is tied to the entire East County Network, not specific clubs. Since Concord is fully operational and officially promoted as part of that network, In-Shape is violating its own contract and engaging in misleading advertising. I have reached out to In-Shape leadership and Member Services with no resolution. I have since filed formal complaints with the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), Better Business Bureau (BBB), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). I will also be submitting documentation regarding membership payments and potential restitution for services denied. Fellow members: Check your contracts. If you are being denied access to a location listed under your network, you have the legal right to demand full access or file a formal complaint. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THE KID ZONE HERE. ESPECIALLY IF THEY CANNOT TALK. if it were not for our 7 year old we would not know that our baby was injured while in their care. Staff blatantly lied to us about our 9 month old falling while in their care and then had the audacity after being caught in their lie to try to blame our older daughter saying she "knocked her out of the wagon". We got 3 different stories about what happened from staff (the first that she didn't fall because they caught her) After reviewing the video it showed absolute negligence from staff. I have been a member of In-Shape for over 8 years, as a whole family. My kids have learned to swim in the pool there. As a mother of two trans teenagers, I'm very very about inclusion, and the rights of my own LGBTQ community, however today was preposterous and disgusting. I was working out while my teenagers and their younger brother swam, a regular occurrence for us as a family for some time. I received a message from my son, who is also autistic stating " a grown adult male was telling him he had to remove his shirt, that he couldn't swim with his clothes on" I immediately went down to the pool in order to check and see if this was staff, and they didn't understand the significance of our situation. Or what the situation was. When I arrived I find my eldest son, stressed out and not swimming. He's frantically texting me and his anxiety is high, my other sons are in a corner of the pool u sure what they can or cannot do. I am then directed to another male adult member, swimming in the right lane. I stated excuse me are you a manger to this man, this lead to an exchange where the gentlemen, is calling me fat, referring to me in disparaging ways, yelling at me at the top of his lungs and addressing me in really unacceptable ways, with staff in the room. I'm approached by one of the workers Johnathan, the ONLY staff who made me feel heard and cared for, who says I'm sorry this happened I heard everything don't worry Oll get a manger. I said No I will, at which point I rush to the front desk and ask for the manager. I'm approached by AJ who listened to me and walked out with me. She then approached the man; who again makes disparaging remarks to her about me, makes comments about my children, and challenges her with what the "rules are" no one is addressing this male figure approached minors, and directed them to remove clothing. No one is addressing the fact that this man has now called me names, harassed minors, made a hostile environment and is literally make jokes about me and laughs to the manager, this didn't make me feel supported, this did the opposite made him empowered. At this point AJ comes to speak with me to tell me she "spoke to him" but he continued to stare at my children, making them uncomfortable , making sly remarks under his breath and laughing! He is NOT asked to leave, not told he should leave the swimming area, nothing is done to this man. Now my fiancé comes in, who is NOT in my own gym membership! He approached the kids, finds out what happens and that this guys still sitting making jokes, not acceptable but my fiancé did threaten to hit him. At this point I stepped in myself asking my fiancé to simmer down and stand down. I was asked to gather my children and leave the swimming area. Because someone not attached to my membership threatened a man who had been harassing, possible in a sexual manner my minor children. I expressed concern to AJ that she was letting this man win, and that he would then believe he was right, she said in front of my children who had been accosted, "I don't care what he thinks" at this point I stated no You dint understand what this is, and she interrupted me to tell me "i do understand my daughter is bi" well what i then said was NO MY SON IS THE VICTIM OF SEXUAL ASSULT -and a man demanding he take of his clothes would be traumatizing, and that the message to this man was he was right, I was told again "I don't care what he think I have to write a report, and you have to leave because I heard your fiancé" This is the managements attitude about WNY concern I have ever voiced. Do yourself a favor and do t go here. You will be disappointed. After years of paying for this place, rarely using the facilities and then when I want to use the facilities, I get a bunch of promises that didn't come true, I cancelled my membership, went to Planet Fitness and at least get unlimited tanning, massage and a clean place for only $23 a month and can use all of their locations. During the covid crisis our local In Shape did everything possible to stay connected with us. From emails to virtual classes they made the best of a difficult situation. Recently we had a small membership issue with the gym. It was clearly one that was my college students fault. The manager went out of his way to resolve the issue. Most importantly, he did so because he felt it was good business and the way he wished to operate. That type of attitude is lacking today, as we become more automated and detached. Absolutely dislike this gym, not worth it, not consistent, nor professional. I place my membership on hold due to covid-19 because they keep on changing how to do things, which I could understand, however they make impossible to close your account with them. You can't close online, although online it says you are able to, they want you to call the 800 number and the estimating time on hold is over an hour. They want you to go in the club to cancel which it makes no sense , because of Covid-19 some of us are trying to avoid contact as much as we can. Then they tell you they have to re active the account and charge you for another month although you are not going to use it. It is very unethical and in my point of view very greedy from their part. I was originally a member at 24 Hour Fitness but it had become crazy crowded and smelled like chlorine throughout the entire gym. I went to check out In-Shape and they let me try a free group class! It was a Power Ride Class and my instructor was Indira. She kicked my butt in the best way. Class was upbeat and energizing and Indira was bubbly and motivating. It made me want more so I canceled my old membership and signed up for In-Shape immediately. They have awesome add-on packages and are way more affordable and less crowded than 24 Hour Fitness. I have been going to this gym for a few months now, and I really like this gym! It's spacious, it's clean and they have everything. There's massage chairs available when you just want to chill. I particularly like the Sauna. This has been my favorite spot if I want to sweat even more! I can't wait to try the pool in the summer. A total rip off. The equipment is outdated, the facilities are run down, and when something breaks they either take forever to replace the equipment or they haul it away. The gym etiquette is deplorable. You have a few that are hogging the equipment doing supersets in 3 different rooms. When you try to go on the equipment, occasionally you encounter people rudely scream at you they are still on it. A few times you have guys leaving their stuff on a bench press saying they are using it, but then chat with their friends for hours, never touching the bench press, but not allowing anyone else to use it. The general manager I spoke with also would not reinforce gym etiquette rules. I canceled my membership recently only to be told I have to wait 30 days, and BTW they're still charging me for an annual fee even though I already canceled. I paid the my membership fee upfront so my membership would be minimal. The monthly fee went from $20/month to $26 and now $40. Honestly, if you're at this facility, you can't even use the one in Concord. Useless and a total ripoff. Don't bother using this place, go elsewhere. read more

She asked me to book a reservation with her through the app on my phone. I explained that I had no service so I was unable to do so at the time which seemed to tick her off. She then proceeded to invade my personal space and started to grab at my phone and said she would do it for me which I explained to her made me very uncomfortable. Yesterday for the first time I went in with my 17 year old daughter and two friends. The lady at the front desk was a fat out of shape woman with an outrageous attitude. She was the only one working. She made me sign my daughter up instead of allowing me to show my friends and family around to see if they even wanted a membership. After paying and signing my daughter up and walking inside my friends wanted to go and said they'd rather sign up at a different gym due to how rude the lady was at the front desk. Today I called to cancel my month to month membership and to remove my daughter from this account so we can sign up some place else where we weren't treated so horribly and I spoke to the manager named macey. She defended the girl at the front desk with the attitude and wouldn't allow me to cancel my month to month membership. She also told me that in order to remove my daughter I have to pay a fee . This place is terrible they lie. So much . She even told me she overheard the conversation that the rude girl at the front desk had with my friends and family when no one was around . They lied about the membership saying that I would be able to cancel at anytime with the month to month membership and said I now will have to give them a thirty day notice. This was the first I heard of that. Don't come here . The only thing good at this gym is the equipment. If you want terrible customer service this is the place for you. read more

Member for over 10 years, primarily use racquetball courts, but also use sauna, pool, cardio/weights as well as take classes. Cancelling my membership due to InShape's clear disregard of member feedback, lack of customer service and deceptive tactics to protect their bottom line. I do NOT recommend InShape Antioch or any InShape clubs. It is only a matter of time and money before some aspect of the club that you care about is eliminated or changed in a way that's best for Corporate, but framed to look like it is best for members and 'based on member feedback'. InShape eliminated racquetball courts, an amenity that was the primary reason many members joined. They have neglected a large, strong, dedicated and passionate family of racquetball players in their club. IS made a poor decision and completely disregarded its members during the entire process. The racquetball courts fostered the very Mission Statement the company promotes. Elimination of the courts and how it was managed shows the company has lost its core values. My family and I are so deeply hurt with the decision of removing the racquetball courts! We have been members since 2004 and the reason we chose IS above all other clubs was because of Racquetball. I have refined my skills there, played several tournaments, taught my family and many other as they came in with curiosity. It is truly our favorite way to do cardio. We have so many young ones interested in this sport and it's so sad their experience will be short lived ; ( I DO NOT recommend IS because they have become LIARS, INSENSITIVE and INCONSIDERATE with their faithful members. Also, After they closed the Pittsburg club we had an overflow of members in Antioch. Updating my past review. I have been a member of this gym for over 5 years now and have never missed a payment or caused any issues. Today I drag myself in after about a month of not being able to get the nerve to go and as soon as I walk in I am bombarded with questions!! What's your member number, your not showing up, we have to take your picture, if you want your son to come in you have to add him, oh and you have to pay for it right now... blah blah blah. And an older couple comes in right beside me and was experiencing the same interrogation. I have to say this really annoyed me!!! And I will be looking for a different gym. I asked the new manager "so what are you all auditing yourselves now or something" he said "no now that I'm here, we just doing our jobs".. oh really???!!! Well please address the foul smelling, dirty, disgusting bathrooms and facilities before attacking a loyal customer as soon as I walk in the door. It's hard enough for some people to get up and come to the gym and then to be attacked when you arrive makes you not even want to work out. My son wasn't even working out and he barely comes with me, and they forced me to add him to my monthly account for him to even enter the gym... seriously... this is how you treat loyal customers???? Well I tell you what, this is how you lose loyal customers too! Please look at the disgustingness in these photos and re-prioritize the things you need to "fix" at this gym!! I left inshape fitness 3 months ago after being a member for 14 years, what a relief leaving inshape I'm in a much better Gym there open 24 hrs I pay half of much of what I was paying at Inshape, Inshape is way over priced, Inshape members there's allot better gyms out there than Inshape!!! Wish I could give 0 stars. This used to be an amazing Gym. Now on their 3rd company the service is trash. I had over 80 hours of paid personal training which ended during the pandemic. I paid my membership dues on time for years awaiting the return of the personal training. For years I was promised I'd be compensated. The staff is very unprofessional and inattentive. I always have to wait at the counter and wait for the workers to stop gossiping before helping me. The manager David told me to wait on an email that I never received them once I finally got a hold of him again( months later ) he had an oh well attitude and said I was supposed to fill out some medical form I had no idea about. He further told me they have no corporate officers and he could not give me his supervisors phone number. The hours of the child center are minimal and not convenient. The cost is way too high for this type of experience. Planet fitness here I come. I will be considering legal advice. Don't waste your time here!!! read more

Signed up for the 7 day free pass since I never joined a gym before.. fear of never going... & I don't want to waste my hard earned money, lol. I went 5 out of the 7 days to work out with my friend who has a membership there. Seriously without a gym buddy, I probably wouldn't of been as motivated. The girl who helped me sign up & get started was cool. I forgot her name, but she didn't pressure me into signing my life away. I like that because I didn't want to be forced to do anything I wasn't sure I would be interested in the first place. However I did get a phone calls from the gym.. maybe like 3 times? Out of the 7 days. The gym is cool since I don't have anything else to compare it to. But it was nice and clean. The free weight room was always popping. The women's only area wasn't always just women's, lol a few dudes would come in to work out. There was one dude who just stared at my friend while she worked out... kinda weird. They offer classes like yoga and stuff, I wish I would of tried some of their classes but I got lazy. I just stuck with the basics. There's also daycare, swimming pool, indoor track.. I'll have to check out a few other gyms before deciding which one to join. But overall my experience was pleasant. read more

Went in person trying to arrange a meeting with manager and was refused. Received a call back only to get a disrespectful and rude response and no solution. Just lost 6 members. All I can say is wow! This gym is phenomenal. Let me start off with the facility. It's huge and clean! And....they are currently under a remodel. I can't wait to see the final product. My favorite areas are the 360 room and the pools. There's nothing like finishing a workout with a few laps. Next, I want to point out the staff. I have been a member at various gyms and this gym by far has surpassed my expectations. The staff are courteous, patient and most importantly professional. I have to say the Manager, Sean, is doing a fantastic job with his team. He's a natural leader. I overheard him with another member and it's comforting to know that he puts the member first. He answered all of their questions, addressed their issues and genuinely cared. They too, appreciated the fact that he took the time to listen to their concerns. What I can appreciate the most is Sean is visible in the gym, he's not above re-racking equipment, picking up towels or keeping areas safe and tidy. I've never seen that at other gyms. Thank you!! I can't say it enough. Lastly, I love the group classes. Each instructor brings their own experience and flare. read more

So a follow up to my previous review: nothing has changed. For some reason it seems that the ownership and the staff don't care about the safety of their members. I don't know why this happens, but the deadlifting insane amounts of weight and dropping it on the floor crowd consistently picks the spot in the free weight area between the shoulder press machine and the decline press machine to put everybody at risk. They set up shop there constantly and make a hazard for everybody and anybody that needs to get by them. They are standing in a main corridor for the weight room and dropping 315 pounds on the ground without control. there is a whole separate space in the functional strength training area that nobody uses for that purpose. Might I suggest that put up some signs telling those folks to head on over to the open and non crowded spaces to do that kind of training? It's summer time. School is out. Meaning that your facility will be packed with novice lifters and first time gym goers. Somebody is going to get hurt. read more
