This is hands-down, one of my favorite Indian restaurants. They have maintained the quality of food throughout the years, and they have been opened a long time. This is a buffet style restaurant, with a good selection of choices, but a small enough buffet to where it doesn't become overwhelming. I have frequented this place for many years, and it just remains one of the best. Service is excellent the decor and feel of the place is very welcoming. Food was a disappointment. I love Indian food but a lot of their items were bitter (chai tea, tiki masala) goat curry had a lot of small/broken bones, tandoori chicken was dry and bland. Have been going to eat at India Palace for years. Since I moved I haven't been in a while. My mom got a gift certificate for her birthday so we went to use it. Their buffet has the most dishes I've ever seen at an Indian Buffet and everything is good, fresh and mostly not hot spicy which is good for me. The best dish there is the goat. It is so tender and delicious! I would go there just for that. I do like paneer from another Indian restaurant which is why I gave it 4 stars. Great service too! Door Dash Review: My go-to for Indian Food when I have a craving. I've been ordering from India Palace exclusively for my fix for about four years now, and one of the amazing things about them is their consistency. I always order the same thing: The Lamb Biriyani. It's so large a serving it can easily last me through three to four mealtimes. The only downside is that the garlic smell will stay with you a day or two after you've finished this meal. Your sweat will smell like garlic. But since I WFH I don't mind. I also tried the khir, and it's a slightly more watery consistency than Mexican rice pudding, but it's still a nice treat on hot days. on Sunday I ordered the samosas - DD had a BOGO deal - amazing, because one samosa is pretty hefty on its own! They were delicious. Crispy and flakey on the outside, delicious potato-ey filling on the inside. I've gotten my brother-in-law into this spot now, too - when he and my sister visit, sometimes he'll specifically request India Palace for dinner. read more

Went to this restaurant where they had buffet. I hadn't really ventured out in Indian food much besides tikka masala so it was a new culinary experience for me. Buffet was a good price at $15.99. I tried some of their dishes but really just served myself like 2 plates of tikka masala which is worth it for the price to be honest. The food was good but just not stellar or outstanding, but still good. The buffet was well monitored and food was refilled relatively quickly. Standard Indian cuisine but nothing really special. The place was crowded which is a good sign but they just didn't have enough staff. Staff was fantastic I just wish they had more servers, because this wait staff seem to be working very very hard and just couldn't keep up. Not much in the way of decoration but the important thing is the restaurant was clean and the food was good. My go to Indian restaurant in San Antonio. A $15 buffet, with a wide range of options and fresh food? sign me up! I have been here many times and have never had a bad experience. If you go, I recommend trying a little of everything to find what you like most. To go through some of the dishes I like the most - - Saag paneer - The spinach and farmers cheese is fresh, and this is delicious to eat with naan or even samosas. - Channa Masala - A high protein vegetarian dish, featuring chickpeas along with a spicy flavored sauce. (not really hot in my opinion) - Cooked cabbage - I couldn't find the official name of this dish but GET IT !! The cooked cabbage with other vegetables is so simple but the seasonings they use with tender cabbage makes this addicting. - Chicken Tikka Masala - A creamy tomato based sauce covering rich flavored chicken that goes great eaten with naan. It really is a classic and they nail it. - Vegetable Samosas - I could come solely for these alone. I always have to limit myself because they are filling but taste so delicious. A crispy exterior with a soft inside filled with spiced potatoes and peas. - Eggs - Again, don't have the name and couldn't find it on the menu but the marinated eggs are delicious. These are just a few of my favorites. They also have desserts with the buffet too. The Mango Custard and Kheer are a great way to top off the meal. I like to mix them both so it feels like mango rice pudding. You really can't go wrong with anything at the buffet. Aside from the buffet, they have a wide menu. I personally have not ordered outside of the buffet but I would try other items based off what I have had. I enjoy coming here each time because of the great food for a good price, the staff is welcoming and the vibes are solid. I also appreciate how clean they are with the buffet, constantly wiping it down, keeping plates stocked and providing (and encouraging) hand sanitizer with each time you load a plate. I went for their lunch all you can eat special! After tax + tip, the total was around $18. I think this is a bit pricey for the value and selection. There are just two different stalls for the entrees + desserts. Since I don't often have Indian food, I thought it was pretty good. But I think compared to other Indian restaurants, this place is average. I did like the spinach paneer. They had this AMAZING rice pudding dessert and mango custard. The naan was pretty good. The samosa and chicken was dry and not that impressive flavor wise. I preferred the curries and saucier things. We were a larger group of 10+, and the servers looked a bit annoyed when seating us. The restaurant crew would continually switch out the food and keep it full. The service wasn't the friendliest but you were never without water and your dirty plates were always taken away. I will admit I was very cautious about going to this buffet. I love Indian food but buffets usually lower the flavors of food. The food is usually left out for a long time, it gets dried, cold. It's really hard to find a good buffet these days especially after the pandemic. With all they said, I was dead wrong about this space. This buffet was excellent. The food has a great variety of both meat and vegetarian dishes. When I first got there the naan appeared low and I thought it was hard. But when I got back to my table it was warm and soft. The samosas were huge! They were flavorful. The chicken masala was so tender and juicy. The mango lassi was delicious. This is a great value def a spot I would recommend for first timers to get a little of everything. Frankly I'm appalled I haven't written a review for India Palace yet. I've been coming here for YEARS. I live in Austin now, but when we get a chance to be in San Antonio, the husband and I will typically stop here for dinner. Last time we came here at the request of a friend for her birthday dinner treat. It's spacious, clean, and the furniture is a little old, but it's fine you're not there to eat a chair. Service is good. If more than one of you order water or tea, they'll put a carafe of it on your table so you can refill on your own. It's a nice little touch so you don't have to wait. You want to be able to taste love? Get a vegetable samosa from here. I got two last time. I would've eaten more, but then I wouldn't have had room for the paneer or the eggplant or the vegetable rice. Everything is so good and those food warmers keep the food hot so it stays at peak deliciousness. read more

One word can describe my experience- yuck! The food (especially chicken dishes ) was extremely bland with no spices and chicken was old (tough and hard). They always burn the naan bread. The same dessert selection with no variety - bland fruit, watery rice pudding and a tasteless mango custard. The samosas had bland potatoes inside with no flavor. Tandoori chicken was hard & dry with no flavor. Very disappointing. I went to India Oven and food was very tasty and they had great gulab jamuns in their buffet. Ohh yelp reviews! How deceptive you were this time! I wanted Indian and came here based on the 600+ reviews and 4 star rating, I mean there had to be some truth to this.....but naw! It's a buffet, granted (which means bulk supply and all that, I get it), and I was excited to try a variety of things; however, the options were very basic. The chicken masala and curry were extremely bland, and watery!! The chicken was not the tender type of chicken that you would expect from an Indian cuisine, but rather tough and dry. As far as spice....non exisitent in anything. I remember eating and thinking, 'yeah this aint it' and how I'm sure my canned masala sauce at home would've been better. So my usual joy at an Indian buffet has not diminished. The gently spiced sauces are redolent with creamy goodness. They've lots of vegetarian options with lots of flavor and lots of carbohydrates. Great for gout but lousy for diabetes; totally worth it. Their masala chai is particularly good. It doesn't take much to improve on National Coffee Chain (tm) but India Palace leaps that hurdle without breaking into a run. Damn good soul satisfying stuff. read more
