Hi called here while on business. The service is a bit slow but pleasant. The food is very poor. I have the jalfrezi and it was rubbish. The place wasn't very full and this was a Saturday evening. I guess this speaks volumes. As service was slow and it kind of got you a frustrated. Decor is somewhat claustrophobic giving a funny vibe. I won't be going here again. read more

Surprising find in town--very good! I was afraid the food would be overly mild in deference to local tastes but the food compares decently to Indian restaurants in the US (though maybe not quite up to London standards). The service is excellent and the space is well located and comfortable. Prices are reasonable compared to other eateries in the area. I try to go at least once whenever in town. read more

Cute place located in the charming and historic downtown Stavanger. A little on the pricey side like most places here but has a nice atmosphere and cozy interior. I had the lamb vindaloo and it was so so spicy I couldn't breathe!! I love spicy food and vindaloo but probably wouldn't get it again. Also, service is definitely a little spotty. The server placed some cucumber raita on the table when we first sat down and then took it away. When I asked if I could please have some since my vindaloo was so spicy I was told that that wasn't the protocol and I was supposed to let them know at the beginning that they should keep in on the table -- strange. Anyway - not sure if I will be rushing to return here anytime soon. read more

I've eaten Indian foods in a lot cities on this planet including in the homes of Indian friends, so I like to think I know good Indian food. I love the new EU labeling law that requires clear labeling of dishes with allergens including gluten. Who knew that rogan josh has gluten in it? All three dishes we ordered were beautifully seasoned. We ordered them all medium spicy and that's how they arrived. The basmati rice was fragrant from the cardamom pod steamed with it. Only minor nits: we had a little trouble getting the attention of the server to get our check. Although they had a tempranillo on the wine list (still rare most places), it was a little raw. But I don't feel like this is a huge complaint in Europe / Scandinavia because that's how the locals prefer their wine. read more

The best paneer makhani that I have EVER had I found in Stavanger, Norway? Yes, and at this place and I am Indian and vegetarian. Smells great, is clean, has been around for a while, and is close to the bars. I highly recommend and I don't write many reviews. Interestingly enough they have a wild mushroom naan which I have never had. It was decent. They also have indian beers albeit Kingfisher although that's amazing in a very bland beer scene in Norway. read more

as far as ethnic foods go in norway, i have no expectations. as long as the food's fresh and has some resemblance of what it's supposed to taste like, i'm not going to be disappointed. maybe because of this notion, i was pleasantly surprised when i went to india tandoori yesterday afternoon for a late lunch. we arrived at 2pm which is when they open on weekends and obviously were seated immediately since there weren't any others there. but soon people started coming in so i assume business is quite good at this place. the interior feels like you're inside a cave decorated with indian art and traditional objects. it looks a lot more pleasant on the inside than the outside facade for sure. apart from dining in, they also do catering. the restaurants can accommodate many diners and they have several tables good for large parties. we had the dinner menu which had several different items to chose from, but i didn't see any samosas :( oh well. and one thing that was surprising was that they serve beef. i think it's the first indian restaurant i've been to that serve beef. i had the chicken tikka masala and a glass of mango lassi. my parents had the madras hot pot (spicy but not as spicy as it can be in the united states or asia), and lamb jalfrezi rangin. we also ordered some plain naan. the service was friendly and attentive and the food was pretty authentic in flavor. the naan was super fresh and made to order so make sure you order enough to start or else you'll be waiting a while if you need to order more. i'd recommend at least one naan per person. we also got a good portion of rice to go with our food. a dinner dish ranges from about 150kr to a little over 200kr for dinner. i'm sure the lunch menu is a little less (with of course less food, and i'd imagine not everything's available in the lunch menu) next time i want to try their palak paneer as well as a few other items. they had a pretty good wine list and they have a full bar as well for those who want to enjoy a cocktail or beer with their meal. read more

Service is great, friendly and very warm. if you are looking for genuine indian food this is your place. It is a little pricey but again this is Norway and everything is expensive. read more
