Teachers have really poured into my kids lives, Athletic offerings have expanded, and there have been significant updates to the overall facilities over the past couple of years. So many things to say...public school education for the private school tuition. Teachers who aren't equipped to actually teach and lesson plan to help children grow not only academically but also emotionally and spiritually as well. Everything is done under the guise of Christian education. Every email communication is a money grab on top of increased tuition every year. The administration overall leaves something to be desired. Communication is atrocious and god forbid you have an opinion on something, you'll paint a target on your back. There are too many families that we know of that say they try to "keep their heads down" and that is not an environment I ever want to subject my children to again in a school setting. read more

We were involved with both the church and the school here for several years, and the experience was nothing short of disillusioning. Unless you're prepared to constantly open your wallet and make hefty donations, don't expect to feel welcome--because this "community" exists only for those who can pay their way in. The head of both the church and the school seem far more interested in promoting themselves than in honoring God. Pride, favoritism, and self-serving agendas take priority over true ministry or spiritual growth. The administration is a complete failure--disorganized, unkind, and shockingly dismissive of children's well-being. If your child doesn't fit into their narrow definition of "average" and compliant, beware. Gifted students are ignored, struggling students are unsupported, and individuality is squashed. Rather than nurturing children with Christ's love, they shame, belittle, and pressure them into conforming. It's painful to watch kids--who deserve compassion and guidance--be treated like burdens. What makes it all the more horrifying is that they do this under the banner of Christianity. The hypocrisy is staggering, and it's tragic to see faith used as a cover for control, exclusion, and greed. This place is not a reflection of Christ's love--it's a warning of how far off course a church and school can go. read more

This school has been going downhill since the new head of school took over and is ruining christian education. These reviews from multiple years ago were not wrong, this school once was a decent environment to be involved in, but when ego and pride enters the room it sucks out the meaning of family, love and christian morals. It's crazy how fast this place spiraled downhill and is managing to make it all seem like sunshine and rainbows. Favoritism, carelessness, christian-less values, etc all thrive at this school. Am also not too thrilled about the concept that phones are completely prohibited from being on a student and backpacks are allowed in the classroom when previous years allowed phones on the person and backpacks to stay in the lockers...How safe is that in today's crazy world..?! Take your money somewhere else. LOOK at the reviews and the dates. There are few recent. Chris Hobbs, head of school-"If you don't apologize to the cheer coach, your daughter will be expelled." Me- "You're going to kick my daughter out of school because you don't like a Facebook post I made?" Hobbs- "I think IRCS is the best school and that's all I want being told to everyone." more or less. Me-"She's a really good kid." Hobbs- "She must get that from her dad." My FB post said, "There's nothing like a jerk at a Christian school to get you digging in your Bible." I wasn't referring to him. The cheer coach is somehow protected against anything she does to those girls and she's horrible to the girls. The pastor's kids seem to have an open canvas and no rules. There are some really good teachers, and the choir and arts programs are truly Christ centered. The curriculum is not great. The kids can re-take a test until they get the grades needed. Most kids aren't college ready. The marketing team does a great job at manipulating the media to sound like the school is always winning and the best at everything, but it's not. Many of the kids and parents are not happy. The parents feel stuck because the school implemented a new policy for re-enrollment. You will have to decide if you're going to return the next year BEFORE the other schools put their lists of acceptances out. If you decide to go to another school after that early deadline, you will be charged $2500. The school and church have turned to ego and greed based for all of the things. The kids are used as weapons and marketing. If you say anything negative or constructive, your comment or you will be removed. There's so much more. Just stay away from this school. It was once a great place that focused on Christ. It has strayed FAR from that. read more

This school is one of THE best schools out there if you're looking for a private Christian school! Our son went all 4 High School years and just graduated within this pandemic. The school went out of their way to deliver yard signs to the seniors (BEFORE all the other schools did the same). They postponed the graduation and were dedicated to keep it to honor the seniors. They truly care about the students spiritually, emotionally, and academically. Our son graduated with almost an A.A. degree because of dual-enrollment options. My son is going into the 9th grade and has been at this school since 6th grade. Prior he was in fundamental schools. Our experience is positive and my son is getting a wonderful education. My son has respect, manors and is thriving. The school is providing a education with Christian way of life. We made this choice and rearranged our finances to make this possible. I sent my kids to this school and pulled them out within a couple months. My daughter was bullied and the school did nothing to stop it. Her teacher resigned after less then a month of teaching. My son was abused by a fellow student twice. This student forced my son to look at his private part. I talked to the principle and apparently the kid couldn't be suspended or expelled because he was on an academic scholarship. Thank god I pulled my kids out of this school. Both kids have been doing great since they left this school. read more

I am a proud parent of an Indian Rocks Christian Middle School student. This is our second year there and I can't imagine my daughter being at any other local school. The teachers go out of their way to make learning fun and are always available for any extra help if needed. The campus is gorgeous and there is an extra curricular activity for every interest from bowling to football. The student body is kind and respectful to each other & staff. Indian Rocks is great! Id you have 60 grand+ up every year for your child to learn in their smallest building, which is just on top of a gym. Their curriculum is good, however freedom of religion is not here. It is pressured onto every student, and from my experience, most the students only enjoy the same few teachers. They have strict rules that should only be enforced for the parents. 24 hour rule? Are we serious? My child is under my care and rules until she is in school. Cannot trust these people to treat my daughter with respect, rather than a juvenile. read more

LOTS OF BULLYING! Don't put your kids here unless you want them to get depressed!! The dean and staff of this school is really bad they don't help students at all. Especially not the victim. 2 innocent girls got kicked out one for doing absolutely nothing but being related to the victim of bullying and the victim who got kicked out for not contacting the school because when they contacted them they didn't help at all. These reviews bother me a lot. There is a lot behind them that they won't tell you. For Ethan W he is bothered by "homophobic" first off he is dating a student who got expelled for having sexual relations with the same gender that was 4 years YOUNGER. Also it is a school with a religion that teaches against homosexuality so of course they won't condone it. For Sarah S (I was in her grade) she was a student who distanced herself from almost everyone else so she seemed like she wasn't even in her grade. It was hard to get to know her and was often rude when you tried to. The person talking about the price... Are you kidding me?? You know the price before you come here how is it fair to give them a bad review because of that. If that's a problem give Berkeley Prep a bad review too. Don't get me wrong the schools it's own problems mainly with athletics but every school has things to fix. I grew up in this school and it was amazing, the teachers and the friends I made changed my life 100% for the better. I am the man I am today because of the lessons I learned. Well, seeing as there aren't enough one star reviews I will add to the table. I highly recommend to take your child and run far away. I am a Christian myself but the staff at this school are not. I know this because I've seen so much going on, kids are doing drugs and I've seen one have an affair with the band teacher. The school overlooks these things and instead spends their time picking on their least favorites. There are a few favorites and then everyone else gets picked on. I was upset one day because I got bad news, my boyfriend gave me a quick hug to make me feel better, and we both got into Big trouble. They are not accepting of those who are different, they are only accepting of the radical Christians who think they are better than everyone else. They will not do well by your children, and if you love them please take them somewhere else. I attended from 5th grade to 10th and have almost no good experiences. If you truly believe in God you will see these people are a scam and are not Christians at all. read more

I am a student who attended from the 7th to the 11th grade at FBCIR. Make no mistake this is a fundamentalist church with a school function, and they will be happy to take your child from kindergarten on through 12th and hammer the bible into them every day and in many classes of every day and several times a week. This is not a place for people who are not fundamentalist baptists. If you are not a baptist and your child is not a baptist and you aren't sure about forcing them into a baptist environment I would caution it. Some of the teachers are indeed great. The education level is generally above that of public school systems - the only thing I"d have given this 2 stars for is if I were comparing it to florida's Public Schools (Largo in particular). However many - good intention or bad - would feel free to interject their personal views on why some people grow up and become gay (if you come from a single parent household, which I did, and that comment was directed at me by a bible teacher), if harry potter is satanic or not (it was I was told by my english teacher), and that ~other christians~ than their cult are going to hell: like catholics for instance (as we were informed in chapel). I also recall dating a young lady who admitted to me she was going to go back to having an affair with the band teacher at that time after we broke up. I brought this to the attention of faculty and was told to essentially 'look into my own heart and pray about it'. I don't know if she told the truth but it seemed the band teacher went on to win awards regardless: he seemed good at that. If your child is curious, if your child needs diversity, if your child loves to learn about new things and cultures and has an open and questioning mind I would strongly advise you find a different school than this one. If however you like the prospect of making sure your child is brought up 'in your own image' meaning 'in his own image', if the idea that all eastern philosophies and anything other than capitalism reeks of Satan actually gives you a tinge of how you imagine he smells in your nose, and if you don't mind your child being taught some pretty shoddy ways to think of scientific thinking (creationism and evolution aside - but actual critical thinking) and if you'd rather make sure the bible gets hammered into your child's head instead of allowing them the freedom to explore spirituality on their own terms rather than yours: if my story doesn't bother you one bit, then perhaps the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks might be a good place for your child and your money. read more
