I ordered Lamb Kardahi with a side of Raita and Garlic Naan bread. The menu said mild, medium or strong so I went with strong. 3 napkins later my nose is still running and I am sweating which is fantastic! The food is marvelous! It is flavourful and so hot that most of my Norwegian friends would have emptied the water at least 6 times. The waitress/hostess came at regular intervals, but not too often . This is the place. As a lover of vegetarian food and cheapskate, I give high praise to the purveyor's of Grønland's budget dining mecca. A vegetarian plate consists, typically, of three items on rice and includes naan. For example, yesterday, chana, aloo gobi, daal. The price is in the neighborhood of $10 USD which in terms of Oslo dining is basically free. For those looking to splash out they have bottled beer and mango lassis. We had a hankering for some Indian food and while there were several choices, it appears we picked the best one! The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome from the time you enter. we got there early so had the place to ourselves but it certainly filled up as the night went on. We had the Garlik Tikkao and Murg Saslik with a side on naan bread (Corriander). We heard the meal coming before we could see it. Each dish is brought on a piping hot cast iron platter that sizzles all the way from the kitchen. Both dishes were wonderfully seasoned and the veggies (onions, peppers etc) were crispy and steamy hot. A nice side of fluffy rice and a bowl of sauce to pour over the goodies. I had the Murg Saslik 'hot'. I wouldn't call it hot (maybe they are trying to protect you) but it certainly left a tasty buzz on the palate. The garlic tikkao had very distinct flavours, moist chicken and a nice size portion. Both dishes had the salad on the hot cast irons dishe giving them an interesting texture that we both enjoyed. The naan was okay, nothing special. It was naan and that's a good thing. Fun atmosphere, lots of interesting decorations to take in. Warning. Do not drink and walk! If one were to have too many wobbly pops with dinner, trying to get down the big winding staircase would be an adventure. Wonderful place that we would very much recommmend. read more
