Had my first root canal today and I was so impressed I wanted to write a review. This office is so clean and quiet. The staff was phenomenal! Everyone was so nice, talkative, and informative. They allowed me to fill out patient paperwork on an iPad which was efficient and easy to use. For the procedure itself, I was with Dr. Joseph Adams. He and his assistant were very friendly. They explained every step, took it slow and checked in with me a lot the whole time. They use really updated techniques, including a GentleWave system, which honestly I had never heard of before but seemed to be really efficient. Overall, it took about 40 minutes and it was completely painless. They took follow up x-rays and showed me the results after and it looked great. I really can't recommend this office enough. If I ever need another procedure like this, I will definitely come back. read more

I went to this practice because they had the earliest available appointment. I needed an assessment for Tricare to authorize a crown replacement. I had to pay out of pocket and then deal with reimbursement. Tricare needed them to call and give a dental readiness category: 1,2 or 3. 1 is good, 2 is fine for the next year, 3 is bad. Tricare tried to contact them - they do not answer the phone. I tried to contact them - they do not answer the phone. I sent an email and got a snarkey email back that they already provided everything and would not be changing the classification. I sent several emails and finally someone calls me back and it became clear they did not understand the classification process (even though I sent the form that outlines what that means). They said they would follow-up, they did not. I sent a follow-up email - no response. I call the Indy office hoping someone there was maybe a managing partner- haven't received a response. This is unbelievably unprofessional. I am deploying in 2 months and can't get this resolved without their cooperation. At this point, I had to request a refund for the exam so I can go to another endodontist. Please do not go here if you utilize Tricare, even if you're self-pay. read more

Shady Scammy When booking i had to do the receptionist's job Insurance, pricing, how soon i'd be going back to my dentist, clarifying the exact procedure i'd be getting, and x-rays. everyone i spoke to was unpleasant. it took months for me to actually get the procedure done and the day of, two hours before they called to verify information. L O L. there was much back & forth and refusal from them to use x-rays i already had done from my dentist and to accept what i was getting done and nothing else. every conversation they kept giving me a range of pricing i might owe because i might need some thing that i made clear my dentist was doing, alarming. "i already have x-rays they've been sent to you", they'd act puzzled and say it's IMPOSSIBLE for them to open them. Dr Pfotenhauer and his assistant were great. I felt comfortable and they explained everything being done. I am very (touch) sensitive and had no issues. i would love to recommend him personally but i don't think dealing with the front office staff is worth it at alllll. they don't take payments but pricing is $500+ for procedures and they want a card on file. i paid cash. read more

I absolutely despise the dentist in all ways, but if you ever need work done, this is the place to go. Everyone I have dealt with is AMAZING, and the way they treat you let's you know that they really care. They will get you in very quickly, and they actually call and text you the days after just to check on you and make sure everything is going well. I have been there 2 separate times and each Doctor was great, but I will tell you that Dr. Joseph B. Adams is the most thorough, caring, and all around pleasant Doctor I have ever encountered. Unfortunately I knew I'd most likely need a root canal. Indy Endo was able to get me in as an emergency the same day at the Avon office. I just feel so blessed to have had Dr. Joe Adams treat me. Talk about professional ........ he's a 10. I had a billion questions and he patiently answered all of them. The office staff was very warm and comforting. Might I add that the office itself is extremely clean and very inviting. When I was at my local CVS filling the script from Dr. Adams, the pharmacy tech said he'd had one of Dr. Adams' classes at the IU Dental school. He said the doctor was an awesome instructor and so very intelligent. It was funny he said that because one of the dental staff members also commented on how intelligent he is. I had to have a root canal done...I know what you're thinking, already. You think this review is biased based on my pain and my secret (not now!) fear of death by drowning in my own saliva during any dental procedure! Well, I wish it were...but unfortunately, it was just a bad experience. :( Let me break this down into a few different aspects here: The Actual Procedure The procedure was mostly wonderful. The dentist I had drew me a picture on paper and on my x-ray to show me an overview what he was going to do (he did leave out the exact details such as the scary rubber dam contraption - had NO idea that was coming!), which was nice because I was nervous. He also answered several questions I had, one of which was "How long will this take?!" to which he replied, "30 to 45 minutes." I kept that number in my head - we'll revisit it later... Anyway, back to procedure. I barely felt him give me the numbing shots, at all. He was very good at that. I hated the rubber dam they put in my mouth but it's part of the process so can't blame them for that. I do wish, however, that they would've paid more attention to my excessive drooling (I did let them know ahead of time that I tend to produce a LOT of saliva!...Seriously!) and also that they would've told me exactly what they were doing as they were doing it instead of talking over the top of me about what political radio shows they are currently listening to and whether or not peaches were left in someone's car. But, overall, good ratings on procedure for what would have been quick and what definitely was painless! Customer Service Not thrilled here, and it's really where they lose most of their marks with me. Aside from the aforementioned chatter, and not much explanation during the procedure, the thing that made this experience so bad was that halfway through the procedure, he got up, said he'd be "right back" and told the assistant to start getting stuff ready (so she left too), and didn't come back for at least half an hour!!! The assistant came in a couple times to apologize but never offered an explanation. She let me sit up after about 20 minutes but then, with the rubber dam in my mouth, I couldn't control the drool and drooled all over my bib and my shirt, which was embarrassing. I had to flag down another assistant, who instead of telling the assistant helping me that her patient needed some help, said, "It looks like your patient drooled all over herself." Yeah, just what I wanted - everyone within earshot to hear. Gee, thanks, lady! After this 30+ minute wait, the endodontist FINALLY came back in, apologized, and thanked me for being so understanding. Cause, you know, I had a choice there. I mean, I could've left with a hole up the middle of my tooth and a rubber dam in, right? ;) Again, I was offered no explanation but so happy to be done, I didn't even bother saying anything. Then, when I got to the receptionist to pay, she informed the assistant who had directed me up there that she also had a phone call and couldn't do both at the same time. I took this time to go to the restroom and have a nice silent scream. :) My appointment was at 2. I probably got started on around 2:30 and by the time I finally walked out of the door, it was 5. It was enough to make me know I never want another root canal again...or at least, I never want another root canal THERE again. :( I realize this is most likely a staffing issue but it's really unacceptable, especially for new patients. read more

I want to express my gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Ley and staff. The experience, knowledge and compassion shown in this office today was absolutely incredible. I was in the most pain of my life this morning and here I am a few hours later giving a YELP review. Holly was able to get me scheduled and insurance verified within minutes this morning. Dr. Ley spoke to me prior to performing the root canal, explaining in full exactly what to expect. Dr. Ley and his assistant- (sadly, I forget her name)-actually talked to me, making sure I was completely comfortable and in zero pain the ENTIRE time. Words cannot even express my gratitude. I've had at least four root canals done by Indianapolis Endodontics with three different doctors and each experience has been exemplary. They made me feel very comfortable even when one of the procedures took about two hours. I wasn't complaining because I appreciated the attention given to making sure the procedure was performed well. Everyone there is a pro at giving painless shots too. read more

My mother recently had a root canal at Indianapolis Endodontics. They were able to her in quickly which was relief due to the discomfort that she was having. The doctor was gentle and I felt did a very thorough exam to find out which tooth was causing her pain. She was kept comfortable and after the appointment she said that she didn't feel a thing!!! read more

Just finished a usually dreaded root canal with Indianapolis Endodontic. As with the time before, it was a professional and painless experience. Dr. Rexford thoroughly explained the process both before and during the procedure. Ancillary staff provided great customer service greatly easing the anxiety that usually accompanies any dental work....and especially a root canal! I was concerned after reading the review from Robbi C. but had a fantastic experience. I saw Dr. Adams and he was prompt, professional and courteous. He thoroughly explained my procedure and completed it uneventfully. I would not hesitate to recommend this office or return if the need presents itself in the future.
