But if you've got new young puppers in your family, this is the place to take them. The trainers and staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and genuinely love all of the doggos so much. They get a very good read on their personalities in the small group setting, and mix and group dogs accordingly in different spaces while also allowing time for breaks and hydration. The space is always super clean and inviting, with big windows in the front to see the main play area. Our dog Oliver is a very assertive player, and they always make sure he gets to play his way -- even if it's with the staff! If I'm honest, our guy has probably aged out of Bark Tutor, but we keep bringing him back because it's his favorite place in the world. He's been to daycare at many other places in and out of town, but nothing gets his bottom wiggling like a day at Bark Tutor.

The combination was exactly what we were looking for. The in-home sessions taught us how to work with our dog, and the Stay & Train helped her become reliable even in high-distraction environments. Our goal was a well-mannered giant-breed dog who would be enjoyable to live with, confident around people, and a pleasure to take anywhere. But when I give them a command they do it. When I walk them, I can stop and have a conversation with someone and they are behaved. Bruce has a method. I followed it for novice training. Now we are in advanced training and agility. My dogs are happy dogs. And they are good citizen dogs. I would say Bruce didn't train my dogs though. I searched a lot, and then I found Alpha K9 for swimming. I wanted a place which can train and let my pups play for a bit. The process of registering my puppies was easy. I had to send a couple of documents online. Hannah was very quick each time giving me a call back and she explained everything to me. My first and second session were great Hannah helped and although me my pup was fussy she she got it. I think the place is huge. There's a lot for every pup. Boarding, training theres quite some activities. The only thing that could be a concern for me in the long run is $75 for 30 minutes, which is a lot for my budget. Otherwise I think that's a great place with kind people who love animals.

It doesn't look like much but it was obvious everyone cares for the animals and wants their best. It was clean and smelled of bleach despite being early on a weekend. We were able to spend some time with one dog and decided to adopt her. They didn't have info but shared all they knew, and even several days later were helpful when we called with questions. These dogs and cats are in a much better place and we so appreciated the care they put into even the tougher cases. They also recommended a trainer when we asked who is already helping us greatly!

I first encountered Love on a Leash in my employment setting. As the health emergency declaration…read moreended, one of the agencies felt like it would be a great idea to bring in some therapy dogs for those of us, myself included, who had worked so hard during such a particularly challenging time. I've now had several encounters with at least two of the dogs and one encounter with another one. After having such positive encounters, I began exploring the group more to learn about it since I'd actually never even heard of it. Love on a Leash is a national organization that started in San Diego County. From the beginning, it has been about pet therapy. It started in the 1980's and was incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit organization. It has grown to an organization with 2,400+ members nationwide. There is at least one chapter in nearly every state. Per the Love on a Leash website, their purpose is "Love on a Leash® is committed to bringing comfort, happiness, and healing to more people nationwide by increasing public awareness of pet-provided therapy. Our volunteer organization provides an accessible certification process that allows qualified therapy teams to provide effective pet-provided therapy services in their community." The Indy Chapter covers Marion County and surrounding counties. It actually was founded in 2009 (How am I just learning about it?). The Indy chapter coordinates many group visits each month at hospitals, nursing homes/senior living centers, elementary and high schools, the Indiana National Guard Armory, adult daycare centers, recovery centers, and college campuses in Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Some members do independent visits. The Indy chapter has a core leadership group of four women who meet daily at a dog park - it's also noted that the Indy chapter is growing. I've met two of the dogs - Brylee and Jack. They are both golden retrievers. I also met a shih-tzu, though I can't remember their name. All the Love on a Leash dogs are therapy dogs (not service dogs). All three of the dogs I met were very comfortable with my wheelchair (which is also apparently part of the certification process). They also certify cats and even rabbits. Indy currently has 32 active teams, 29 handlers, 30 dogs, and 2 cats. I've really grown fond of both Brylee and Jack and have looked forward to their visits when they show up. If you're interested in having a dog certified for pet therapy or looking for a pet therapy visit, I'd definitely check out Love on a Leash. I've been extremely impressed with the dogs I've met and their handlers.
