It's pretty tiny but somehow we ended up spending about 4 hours here, mostly because of my kids. There is a small indoor portion in the church, where there are various vendors mostly selling women's jewelry. That is about 80% of the vendors at least when I visited in 2025. There was a stand selling great olive oil and olives (both of which I purchase) and a stand selling the delicious Greek desserts I basically ate every day while I lived in Astoria, Queens (one of the largest Greek communities in the US). The ladies at the bakery were so friendly, even offering my son a cookie for free (and of course he takes the entire box!). Outside, there is another bakery (with about 4 times the size of the line), and other food stalls. We got a lamb gyro with tzatziki and it was out of this world. There is a tent with music, where some people were dancing and an occasional singer or band would rotate in and out. Also in the tent was a drink vendor where my partner and I enjoyed a glass of white wine on a very hot day. The kids were drawn to the bouncy houses, which included some traditional ones and a blow up slide. It cost $10 per child for use all day. They certainly got their money's worth! There was a sign for face painting and pony rides but I did not see either and the ladies working the desk didn't know when or if they'd actually show up. Overall, a very relaxing spot. Don't expect a huge festival but a relaxed afternoon out or evening. There is also a lovely flower vendor that is a nice place to wander or buy flowers for the spring.

I was lucky to pass by G-twon on my way from Crystal city yesterday afternoon and saw this open market. Along the wisconsin ave., many shops were having stands with discounted clothes, kitchen items and books, of course, french bread, wine and food. It was fun to do stroll around each stand to check out unique glasswares, fabrics, and yes, clothes and fabulous bread/desserts. Don't miss this open-market since it comes only once a year. PS: You don't have to speak french to know or buy things at this market. how cool is that? :)

It's in a vibrant area with many other businesses so when you're done with the arts fest for the day, you can easily go on to other things. There is plentiful parking in a garage nearby and it's not too far a walk from the Bethesda Metro Station. The festival itself is walkable, as well, with a slight incline/ decline in elevation on the main street. There are bright red booths filled with helpful staff to guide you, give you maps, and encourage you along your way, too .... An all-around, highly enjoyable -- and highly recommended -- experience!

And after walking through Cleveland Park Day today, I realize that I love my neighborhood even more. The event was held between Macomb and Porter St on Connecticut Ave. Many of the Cleveland Park businesses had a booth of samples (some free, some for a cost), activities for children, or information about their services. This fair was especially family friendly - I saw face painting, a dunk booth, moon bounce, an open fire truck, clowns making balloon animals, and "dance" classes. Plus, a couple of restaurants were offering free food for children - awesome! For the adults, the library was giving away free books, and I saw many people stop and converse with former President Cleveland and Mrs. Cleveland. Seriously. I was also super excited to see what used to be the vacant lot between Wake Up Little Suzie and the Bank of America announce that Tackle Box is coming winter 2011 - exciting! They were even here to sell their food - a nice touch since they'll be a part of the community very soon. While the fair wasn't very large or something that I'd drive from miles away to come for, I was proud to see my neighborhood coming together to celebrate our community today.

I arrived at 11 AM when it opened; departed by 1:45 PM--was getting crowded and challenging to move about. Everyone at the various booths had great energy. A DJ played a superb mix of oldies and latest releases. I adored the fact that M Street was closed to vehicle traffic for the event. A wonderful spirit was found throughout--really enjoyed myself. My one disappointment: the samples were pretty small. I counted 27 restaurants/bars that participated. Of this, I could afford to "taste" the offerings of 10 establishments. Here's my winners: 1st, Chaia for potato and kale taco; 2nd, 1789 Restaurant for grilled ribeye, soba noodles & sweet potato; 3rd, Beard Papa's for chocolate fondant (dark chocolate lava cake). Some of my highlights included Paella (Bodega), Shawarma (George's), Crabcake Slider (Martin's Tavern), California Roll (I-Thai), and of course Cupcake duos (Georgetown Cupcakes). There was also a beer garden organized by Pizza Paradiso that had a variety of craft beers, which was awesome. It was a great location by the Georgetown Waterfront. One lady who was a random patron cut the whole line because she claimed that she had a ticket that she just paid for. A friend and I wasted about 10 mins waiting and that lady cut in front of us. The offerings that were suppose to be samplings of French food were a bit lacking. Clyde's offered a Crostini that was about $2.00 for a sample. While 1987 offered roasted beets with goat cheese for $4.00. Paul's sold their baked goods which was not really anything new. It seemed like not that many vendors wanted to participate. Most of the tables were just random and didn't seem to do anything to do with France. Although many of the home goods that I saw were very interesting and different. So that was refreshing to see. I think the only thing that saved my experience at the market was getting a macaron ice cream sandwich from macaron bee which was 20% off. The festival in 2025 was better though the location along Pennsylvania Ave is so large that this street festival can feel a little empty/tame compared to some others we visited. There is a wide range of vendors from food to shops and community centers. We ordered some dumplings, which were eatable. And an "asian hamburger" from a stand that was seasoned pork on a bao bun. This was actually completely uneatable. Not only did the parents think it was pretty awful, our kids spit it out. The food here is really hit or miss. But the positive of this place is the variety of activities and entertainment. There were craft stations, dragon demos and other events that our kids just loved. My son in particular loved the cosplay competition, which involved people wearing costumes they made at home. I wasn't really into it, but he just loved the spectacle. Overall, this festival is a good one to check out and spend an afternoon. Is it amazing? Not really. But overall a nice festival to mix up the weekend plans.

This year's festival started at 11a and ended at 7p on Pennsylvania Ave. between 3rd and 6th Street and overlooking the National Gallery of Art. I got there around mid afternoon. There were a number of food vendors, so much it was difficult to choose which ones to try first. It was a very hot day, a little too hot for walking around. The lines for most vendors were long. I stood online for about 1/2 hour for sugarcane juice ($8), which I really really wanted. It was a worth the wait, the sugarcane was freshly pressed (not too sweet), cold and refreshing. The lines for food were also very long, there were many things I wanted to try (the thangulu, Ube doughnut, bao buns), but just didn't have the energy to wait on line for a long time in the heat. Each line was over 15 mins. wait. I can only say that is probably a testament to how good the food was. For the food I did get to try, the fried pork belly which was just okay, could have been more crispy and needed more seasoning. The teriyaki chicken wasn't great. It didn't taste like anything special and the chicken was too chewy. I did enjoy the Tiger show dance, and I would have like to try other things, like the henna. Next time I would prepare better and come earlier to hopefully avoid the crowds. Overall, this was a nice experience of Asian heritage and culture through dance, demonstrations, arts & food.
