He may have been good at one time, but probably not anymore. I went in thinking, that based of REDDIT recommendations this was the guy, the perfect guru for Miata's..but I feel like maybe this sentiment is out dated. His personality, is alright. He's friendly upfront but it changes. He will send pictures and videos along the way, but doesn't take ownership when something he did went wrong. His communication(when things go wrong) is spotty. During the job he sent videos(which initially were helpful and great) although he sent me a video of him taking off the crank gear and he cracked the lip stating someone else had previously done it. Charging me for something he broke. (See pictures the cracked lip lines up with cracked gear position) The CAS leaked right from the get go, found out it leaked a bunch after I got home(1hr away). Had to go back and Alex used a used CAS again. It could be down to bad luck, or bad form but the timing belt snapped on me about 6-7 months after getting the job done. Left me stranded. The parts used, were used. Possibly from other cars he fixed. Or when he does use new parts it's cheap no-name parts. Perhaps done to save money? I went in for preventative maintenance: water pump, timing belt, cam sensor replacement thinking that what I was doing was preventative, but instead, turns out maaaybe not so much. I drive up once to drop the car off, I got dropped off to pick up the car. Found out I had a leak drove up again thinking Alex would be there, last minute he had a dentist appointment. I had to get driven back home, then drove back up again. Each trip 1hr long. (My fault though since I decided to go with someone so far away) not worth the trouble. He is the only worker and he makes the 3 workers job. But when you read the commemts nobody mentioned him. Alex, the owner of the shop is very humble and knowledgeable when it comes to these little cars. Based on my set up he helped me dial in the suspension and alignment on my beloved NA6 . Although he seems to do work on other vehicles, his parking lot looks like that of a KINOD meet. With many different Miatas all over. a delightful sight for fan of these roadsters. I came here a few years back and was not impressed by the work done here. Had the motor swapped on my Miata NA, from a 1.6 to a 1.8. Was told they'd be installing a motor from a 2000 Miata but instead they threw one in from a '98. From the parts used to the labor performed. everything was mediocre and left me feeling dissatisfied. Took longer than estimated. Came to pick up my car only to find a sizable scratch/dent on my quarter panel, that happened while in their possession. They weren't even going to mention it. Indotech is a Miata specialist shop run by Alex. Its located in Arcadia. The parking lot is usually full of Miata's and its kinda hard to park. Alex is very knowledge. I came here because JER Development did not install by Boost Gauge correctly and it didn't read every time. Alex found out the wiring was shotty at best. He also let me know the rest of the wiring in my car needs to be organized or it may cause misfiring. Alex noticed my car was smoking from the engine bay after everything was done. He looked at it and determined it was coming from the valve cover gasket. Before I determined to fix it, we tested the health of the engine. The engine is low compression and he advised me to save money and swap the motor out...so that's what ill do. Its hard to find someone that will go the extra step for you. Oh my idk where to start. Bought a car from practically them. They sold the car to there sons pastor and the pastor had to for literally a month before he sold it which is very odd on both sides. I buy the car over priced and Alex from indo tech had told me it was replaced and rebuilt by him and that it was very low mileage and in great shape. FAR FROM IT. First week it started misfiring, 2 weeks later, my pilot and throwout bearing go straight through my pressure plate. 2 weeks after I fix that, I get rod knock. Had oil and everything. I take the valve cover off to check the top end. THERE IS A MISSING BOLT THAT HOLDS THE CRANKS SHAFT. They will do nothing to help me out. Absolutely nothing. read more

bait and switch tactics, wasted my time. I called the Friday Dec,2 and spoke to the owner or manger I am assuming. I explain to him i want an aftermarket cat-back-exhaust installed on my car, and made it very clear an exhaust from the CATS-back. He said "$75 bring it in tomorrow" I come in Dec 3, 20min after they open. Just in time as the owner also pulls-in in his new BMW with rims. I talk to him and tell him i was the one who called the day before and would like my cat-back installed. He says "let me see" I show him the exhaust in my trunk, He then says "this is will be more and will take longer, he explained just the exhaust piece under the trunk and thats it for the quote over the phone. I told him, "i said over the phone it was a "cat-back-exhaust install. from the cats-back" He argued and said "a cat-back-exhaust, means from this piece to that piece was what that means. (wrong) This owner or manager needs to look up the definition of a "Cat-back-exhaust" I also couldn't have been more clear over the phone to what i wanted installed. He also went on and said removing the bolts from the CATS that connect to the Y-pipe might break. I just had new HFC installed with new bolts last-week, I explained to him. He still argued and said "it doesn't matter bolts might break" You know what a Breaker-bar and CAT-lube is?, its what you use to remove tight bolts. Get educated. I have never heard of such a discretion from any shop. He then says it will take more then an hour and his hourly rate went up to $80+ I was annoyed at this point. I left. wasted my time, this place looks like they service nothing but old Miatas anyways. UPDATE: Went to 9K Racing - Whittier, CA They did the install with no BS discretion about breaking bolts like these people for $50! This place is full of it. read more

Such an awesome shop! Owner Alex works on everything you need for your car meticulously, with great communications along the process. I brought in my 2015 Miata for a track day prep on a short notice; he finishes the work within two days, and mind you: there was a lot of extra work needed to be done just to get my suspension tuned right since I recently installed new coilovers, and he didn't even charge me for those extra hours spent on fine adjusting the height and alignment specs. Sends me a bunch of pictures and videos over the two days to keep me updated. Even got me a free car wash done by the time I picked up! I recommend him for absolutely everything you'd need on your Miata or other Mazda/JDM cars in general. I have had gone to many different shops since I have my driver license to have my cars worked on. Some shops are passive and will only do what you tell them. Some shop will leave you a sour taste in your mouth. For the past several years I have been taking my cars to this place and was glad to found this shop. I got a killer deal on an NC but it had a bad clutch. Alex came highly and I mean highly recommended, like on a semi religious level. His price was less than another Miata guru. Upon inspection it seems the previous owner had done a cheap clutch job from a lesser mechanic. Not only did he not replace the pilot bearing, but he failed to address the oil leak from the pan onto the clutch which is what caused the current failure as well. The pilot bearing was worn out and the end shaft was riding on the bushing alone. This caused the end shaft to become gauled up requiring a replacement transmission. Addressing the leaking oil pan was the first step requiring engine removal. Alex did an immaculate job also identifying and replacing the power steering pump. He installed the new tranny but decided he didn't feel it was good, so he removed it sent it back and got another one which was newer and with fewer miles. By the way, his guarantee on parts he buys and installs includes labor in the event of a failure. He then installed tein coilovers and aligned it. He readjusted the ride three times before he got it to where he felt I would like it. Well the car is fantastic. I have complete confidence in it and in Alex and the boys at Indotech and he even offered to take me to the track! For Miata, Alex and Indotech are the only way to go. read more

Finally made a yelp account and i told my self that when i did i would leave this review. Like about 5 years ago i took my miata to have have oil leaks fixed and timing belt replaced. Alex up sold me on coolant reroute and used after market radiator and what he said to be mazda speed motor mounts but actually stock polyurethane filled ones lol. My oil leaks were not fixed and the coolant hose would catch throttle body lever and get stuck wide open. I hope they do better work now. But i must have came across as a gullible 21 year old who spoke of one day doing track days. But if wasn't for this horrible experience lol i wouldn't have learn to work on my own cars... but yea probably doesn't matter now since it was 5 years ago. I had a great experience here. My Miata had a few minor issues and I wanted an expert to look at it, so I took it here. The owner was very accommodating, prompt, and helpful. He sent regular updates and pictures while working and was very easy to get a hold of. He even cleaned out the engine bay and took my Miata to a car wash while he waited for me to pick it up late. I took my 02 Miata here for an engine swap, new clutch, new rotors, brake pads, shift knob, and caliper. Alex and his team were very transparent with me. I was given photo/video updates on what the goal for the day for the car was. Alex is very thorough in his explanations. Do not be afraid to ask questions, he will gladly answer them for you. The whole project took about 2 weeks or so. When I got my car back, I was completely blown away by how different my car felt. With the new 1.8 VVT JDM, the car felt different, the clutch threw me off the most because my old clutch was super stiff. The brakes are as good as new and I could not be anymore happier. I dropped off my white 97 miata 1.8 to Alex at Indotech for a major...major... needed service and some suspension upgrades early last month. I picked it up not too long after and was excited to give it a thorough rundown but do to circumstances I had to park it for almost a month Now as of recently I got to drive my car for more than a week At first I thought I made a mistake on my part on upgrading to a complete poly-bushings kit due to the first few days being bone jarring and Noise vibrations being next level lol. I brought my s2000 for an opinion of how the car is looking, from outside to inside. I was happy how they explained what I needed, what I might need, and what was working well. I didn't feel forced and the prices were provided was estimate. They were clear of possible increases since each vehicle is case by case. Finally I gave the approval to work on my vehicles needed work and was extremely happy that I was told in detail what was going on. Went there once asking about a SMOG check and Alex had quoted me $80. I thought it was a bit high but he kept reassuring me I'd pass. I shrugged it off and went to the booth for my SMOG. This place is great! They do most engine work. I took my daughter's Elantra in to have the timing belt replaces and a tuneup since it has 95k miles. Alex explained exactly how they will replace it and the parts that can be replaced free of labor charge since they were removed to get to the timing belt - if I chose to. I had the outer belts and water pump replaced. I also had the spark plugs replaced and fuel injection system cleaned. Alex showed me the old parts and before and after pics of the injection. He really know cars and is great at explaining everything clearly and honestly. They are really busy there but they had no problem getting to our car and finishing the work in a timely fashion. Found this place here on yelp. Gave them a call to see if they could replace the shock cartridges in the specifc brand of coilovers that I have. Spoke to Alex and he was familiar with the brand that I have and even has experience working with them. So I brought my car in on a Saturday morning. Showed Alex the shock cartridges and said he could replace them no problem but wants to see how the car rides first. So we went on a test drive. I explained to him the problems I had and he was very knowledgeable. He explained to me the causes for all of the issues that I have. When we got back to the shop, he explained to me that he could install the parts, then I pay him, no questions asked and we part ways. But he took the time to ask further questions as to what my needs were and wanted to make sure he would set the car up to get the best results and to ensure that the parts last as long as possible, and also so that I wouldn't be spending money for stuff I didn't need. So we agreed to the work to be done and he offered me a very fair deal. He even offered me a loaner car since I'd have to leave my car for a few days. So when my car was ready, I came back to find my car all washed up and clean. A nice surprise. He explained to me all of the work that was done on the car and even pointed out some other issues that weren't urgent but I should take a look at. He also mentioned that he doesn't specialize in Subarus (which is what I have), but he could recommend me to other shops that do. He recommend that I drive the car for a few weeks, then come back and he can fine tune it further (ride height, softness, etc). Overall, I had an EXCELLENT experience with Alex and Indotech. Alex was very knowledgeable and was very fair and honest throughout the whole process. He went out of his way to make sure my needs were met and that all of the issues I had were addressed. I actually found Alex by accident. My wife's Lexus ES300 was being serviced by Warren (of Spot 28 in the same building), and Warren did not quite have the setup to examine a grinding noise from my wheels (a 1995 Lexus LS400). Alex diagnosed the problem quickly and accurately, and recommended the right repairs. I then consulted him about a persistent engine-dying-at low-idle problem, and again his diagnosis and repair were spot on. Given the success, I asked him to inspect the car thoroughly and repair all mechanical problems, with the goal of driving the car for another 4-5 years. The repairs were comprenhensive. Alex has quite a few customers who are racers (Miatas, AMGs), and the skill is reflected in how my car now performs. At 160,000 miles, it drives better than when I bought it at 80,000 miles 9+ years ago. Handling is tight, engine is powerful, transmission is smooth. I also appreciate Alex providing a loaner car. First things first, Indotech does not ONLY work on Miatas they can service many other japanese vehicles, but Alex the owner of Indotech is a true Miata enthusiast here to help and serve the Miata community. I came in with an issue of not being able to pass smog even with a brand new CARB EO catylitic converter so I gave Alex a call, and he told me to bring it on in early in the morning. When I arrived to the shop everyone was polite and welcoming. Alex himself asked me what was going on with the car, and was very professional and friendly. I left the car with him for the day, and when he was done with the car the next day he let me know but I was unable to pick it up. Alex did not charge me any storage fees even though I left my car there for an extra day taking up space. When I picked the car up Alex gave me the run down of what was done with the car as well as a verifying smog pretest to prove the car did indeed pass an emissions test. He rung me up gave me my keys, and before leaving he reminded me of a track day that was coming up, and invited me to park with the rest of the Indotech crew in their pit area. I went to Indotech and picked up my 97 Miata today and I am very very pleased with the repairs that were made to get my car back up and running! I'm writing this review from bringing my 1999 mazda miata, 2004 nissan 350z, and 2015 honda fit. The owner alex is a great guy to talk to and to do business with. He knows his stuff around cars especially since he runs his own race team. I would trust him for my alignments especially since you can request whatever specs you want.
