Potentially my new favorite Vietnamese food spot in Baltimore City, IndoViet is dishing out fresh, flavorful cuisine from its corner block home in Highlandtown. While I ordered carry out, even a brief glimpse of the interior during pick up was enough to garner a sense of the spots inviting, spacious yet intimate atmosphere. I ordered the Red Bean Steam Bao as an appetizer--talk about that classic fluffy meets touch of chew texture with just the right touch of sweetness. The bun was filled with just the right volume of filling--a complex nutty meets sweet red bean paste. Hard not to devour in just a few bites! I went with the Vermicelli Noodle Bowl vegetarian style with tofu and peanut sauce. The dish came deconstructed allowing me to construct my ideal ratio of ingredients. The noodles were cooked to perfection--just the right amount of structure and chew to stand up in the sauce. The pickled carrots and daikon added a nice flavorful bite alongside fresh julienned cucumber, crunchy lettuce and bean sprouts. Fried shallots, crushed peanuts and scallions complete the dish with flavor and texture. The peanut sauce is a standout, and together with the additional side sauces, helped bring everything together into one memorable bite after the next. I have been wanting to try out Indoviet for a while and finally did, and I will definitely be back. I love Vietnamese food and have been to Vietnam so my standards are high, and they were absolutely met. We started with the Chicken satay which was so good we could have licked the plate. For entrees we did the crepe and combination pho. Both were very tasty and have many different meat/veggie options so you can find something that fits your tastes. Our server was very helpful and we loved the wall art which I unfortunately didnt get a picture of so you'll have to see for yourself! Portions are HUGE we had lots of yummy leftovers. Favorite place to get pho or vermicelli. The shrimp eggroll things are the most amazing thing you put in your mouth. And the vermicelli chicken is so good. I really can't get enough of this place and the broth it's just amazing like I highly recommend it. We lived close to Eden Center in Falls Church VA and I shopped the grocery there weekly. Suffice to say I tried pretty much every restaurant at eden center. So we thought we would be lucky if Indo Viet was close to an Eden Center experience. What we got was a dinner that basically blew away anything I have had at Eden Center or pretty much anywhere from Wheaton to NOVA. It was really superb! This continues our outstanding Baltimore dining experiences.. What started us thinking WOW! was the chicken satay. A dish we have had zillions of times, here superbly done. Nice char, juicy meat, tasty sauce with a sweet dip. Something usually mundane, here a superb starter. Next was the combination of lemongrass beef, sausage, pork ball with noodles, and greens. This dish took sublime back to ridiculous! The sauage and meatball were hommade and tender and juicy. The grilled meats came in a broth which we used to dip the Banh Mi. This dish just blew me away. One of the best Vietnamese dishes ever yet so simple. I also would have been happy to pour the extra juices on extra noodles or one of the rice dishes. The final dish was the combo Bahn Mi. It was really good, but one of the main delights of a combo Banh Mi is the deli slices of "stuff". Here the "stuff" was all high quality, chef-driven ingredients, wonderful on their own but breaking the Platonic ideal of Banh Mi. In other words, next time I will order other stuff as their BM is just too fancy and, frankly, too good. Can't wait to order delivery again, or finally when we can safely dine in. read more

Very under-rated spot imo. One of the better Asian spots in the city, definitely a go-to of mine. They don't hold back on flavor and portions are big. You could probably find something cheaper elsewhere in Baltimore, but for the quality of the food I think the price is worth it. The place always has a bunch of open seating and quick service, likely because of the location. Don't let that distract you from the quality of the food My wife and I love the chicken satay. The dumplings and garden roles are also quite good, but the peanut sauce really stands out in my mind. I really enjoy the Bon Bo Hue - a spicy, relatively heavy Vietnamese lemongrass soup which is great on cold, rainy days. Ordered delivery via Grubhub. Everything came packed very well; one of the broth containers ended up leaking during transit but because it was wrapped with a plastic bag, we didn't lose any. Always nice since accidents do happen and broth can be one of the harder things to deliver. My roommate and I split some pork egg rolls, which seemed a little pricey at $7 for 2, but I've never had egg rolls packed so densely with pork before. Pretty solid. Good sauce to go with them and they were pretty sizable, too. Roommate got steak pho. Came with sriracha and hoisin as one would expect, as well as bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno slices, and a lime wedge. Said it was very good and finished it all. He also enjoyed his milk tea. I tried out the bún riêu, something I haven't seen before but seemed appropriate to get as a Baltimorean. It's a noodle soup with a crab, tomato, and pork hock/blood broth, and while it doesn't have any crab meat in it (I think they use crab and tomato pastes), the broth still had a distinct crab taste. It came topped with shrimp balls and what looked like thin pork belly but I'm not sure. That delicious broth, the toppings, plus scallions, onion, and cilantro were all great together. There was also a small container of some kinda spicy paste in my bowl, so I added some, but it seemed fairly powerful so be careful if you get the same thing. Good stuff overall and their huge menu should have something for everyone, including people who want to get out of their comfort zone. Definitely gonna try them out again, I'm curious if their bahn mi and bún bò huế are as solid as what we had tonight. read more

This is a review of takeout. All I can say is wow! I live nearby and it's taken me too long to visit. I'll definitely be back again soon. Our Saturday afternoon order of 5 items was ready earlier than the the 15 minutes predicted. Everything was decently portioned (and the chicken banh mi was gigantic and full of chicken and lots of veggies), especially protein and carefully presented. Overall prices seemed very fair, although $17 for vegetarian pho seemed a little high compared to the other prices. The lemongrass beef skewers were heavenly--definitely don't miss out! Their beef broth pho is the best I've had. So good that I made a Yelp account to rate it. Better than San Francisco, Oakland, or Los Angeles pho. I've had it here about 6 times (every time take out) - when I was sick, when I was feeling great - every time it was delicious and the beef broth knocked my socks off. Super tasty. I've gone for my entire life thinking I didn't like beef tendon in my pho until IndoViet awakened me. Their pho is the best I've ever had! Egg rolls (more like spring rolls) are great and the boa buns are also good. I'm going to be missing this sweet succulent broth when I leave MD. Excited to see a new Vietnamese place in Canton! Walked over here and ordered for take out. My husband and I ordered a pork & shrimp garden roll to share. I ordered the beef ball pho and he ordered the grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli. The take out was packaged nicely! The noodles, onion, cilantro, and meat were in a bowl together; the soup was in a separate container; and toppings were on the side (bean sprouts, jalapeno, lime wedge, mint, sriracha sauce, and hoisin sauce). The first thing I do when I get pho is to take a sip of the soup - this is a telltale sign of how good it's going to be. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the naked soup from here as much. It tasted too sweet and had more of a cinnamon taste than I usually like. The beef balls seemed homemade, which is cool because I think they are usually store bought. It was flavorful and squishier (softer?) than the typical balls. They also give you a lot! The garden roll was fine. Lettuce was fresh, filled with vermicelli, steamed shrimp and steamed pork. Not too much flavor but it is served with a peanut sauce. My husband enjoyed his meal as well and described his pork as "ok" and his egg roll as "good". The price point is higher than the pho place I usually go to. A bowl of pho here starts at $15. I would be excited to try some of the items they have that are coming soon like the banh cuon and bun rieu since the other place I go to don't have these items! read more

I don't know where to start for this restaurant. I went in to eat few weeks after they opened up. The service was okay but the backdrop is their food. The pho they have is just overpoweringly seasoned almost bitter in taste. But I thought of giving them a second chance and ordered carry out. However, i was very disappointed again. I ordered Bun Rieu, bun bo hue and few appetizers to go with. The appetizers shrimp on sugarcane was undercooked inside was all soggy and powdery. The bun bo hue broth was just so different in taste I cannot describe what the taste is besides it was not good. The Bun Rieu was too salty so couldn't finish it either. They put sugarcane shrimp on both of the dishes which is non Vietnamese according to my close Vietnamese friends. They might be trying out new things but surely those are not authentic Vietnamese dishes. Overall, i feel very bad and sorry that their food is very disappointing and wouldn't recommend it to my friends. read more

I always get excited when new Vietnamese restaurants pop up in Baltimore so I was really excited to try this place, unfortunately I was underwhelmed. My fiancé and I wanted to try a variety so we ordered a Banh Mi, Banh Bao, Summer Rolls, Combo Pho, and Bun Bo Hue for carry out. The Banh mi bread was very hard & stale, the summer rolls were limpy, the pho was bland, and the bun bo hue had a layer of floating seasoning powder & oil. They haven't been open long so I'm hoping with time, I can get a better experience there considering the people were very nice. read more

Very disappointed with the food here and the service. Tried this place twice once with delivery and once in person. For delivery we got three items and the steamed buns we received were raw! For the amount they charge I was expecting quality food but that was not the case. The food was mediocre at best. I am very fond of Vietnamese cuisine and was very excited to visit this new place in Baltimore city. I went there, looked at their menu and I was confused because of the price range they have. It is just overwhelming for a foodie like me. Their pho tasted very weird with overpowering spice flavors and I thought it is not worth the price. Another thing I tried was Bun cha Hanoi, which was okay but they put sugarcane shrimp on the sauce bowl which made everything soggy and bland. I spent 40$ and Nope I don't this it was worth it. Perhaps, if you eat in the restaurant it is good, but do not order delivery. It's just awful. This little authentic Vietnamese place doesn't look like much when you walk past, and they just had their grand opening so that makes sense. I just got out of church over at the RCC and was figuratively dying of hunger so I popped in for a quick bite. I got the beef pho and the vegetable pho for my date :D. Everything was soo tasty it reminded me of the best pho places I've been to in my travels throughout, California, Asia, and all along the east coast. It's a bit pricey but the quality is truly authentic so it's more than the right price especially considering all of the prices in the area have increased (due to supply shortages, so everyone has increased their prices). The worse yes is that non-authentic restaurants (will go unnamed) have increased their prices terribly as well and they aren't even good! Not much else to say besides go have a taste for yourself! You will not be disappointed, trust me. I wanted to set the record straight as there have been a few unscrupulous reviews that are trying to undermine good business practices and mark "their territory" like a pack of wild dogs (truly disgusting).
