Been coming here for a while now, both pre-Covid and after. Pre-Covid was OK, but largely hampered by the conditions of that time period. Since the remodel, it's been absolutely amazing. Great deals on remnant stock for small projects I have, started using it more for work and it's been a great resource in a pinch and save on shipping/material cost. Love coming here and just browsing, always find something new to keep in mind for another project later. Staff service has always been great as well, never had a bad experience with the counter people or people helping in the back. Had one instance where an order was sent to the wrong location, but was handled very well and thankfully it came at a time when it wasn't essential. Just had it shipped to the store and picked up later. No drama. Highly recommend this place if you need something or if you haven't been just to take a look around! read more

Been here a few times with my buddy but today I went alone because I needed something cut. The staff asked if I needed help and I told him what I needed. He crunched some numbers, found it it's cheaper for them to cut it for me vs me buying a bigger sheet and spending my own time cutting it to spec. They saved me hours of work for something that may not have turned out as nice as how they cut it. It took about 20 minutes and the gentleman was nice enough to walk out to the parking lot to find me and let me know. I parked in the back and they brought it out to my car. I changed the specs last minute and they accommodated that too. My buddy told me everyone here is helpful and nice and that's 100% the truth! I went to Home Depot looking for a sheet of stainless steel for a project. The largest sheet they had was 36x36 but was too thin. That flimsy sheet was priced at $90! Selection was too limited for me so I searched for a place that had better selection. Industrial Metal came up in SJ so I decided to take a trip. Wow this place has such great selection! Not only do they have sheets of metal, but tubing, bars, square stock, fasteners, welding stuff, and casters. Stuff is sold by the pound and they will cut it down for you for $10-$20 depending on what equipment they need to use. The scale is at the front near the registers so although there are guides that tells you approximately how much each gauge of sheetmetal weighs, the actual price is determined at the scale. I walked out of here with what I needed and it cost me only half the cost and that's after they charged me with cutting it. The only thing I wished is if they provided sheetmetal folding service but they don't own a brake onsite. If you forgot your tape measure or leather gloves to handle the sharp stuff make sure to grab some loaners on your way in. read more

I called ahead and told them I wanted two 1/2 inch stainless steel square bars cut to 24 inch each and I got quoted a price at $36. Awesome! I rush there after work before closing and they quote me at $60 cause they charge for the cut. Why wasn't I quoted the cut price too when I called in and told the dimensions. They ran out of 3 feet uncut ones for me to cut myself but the worker was at least helpful trying to find leftover stock. Otherwise I had an issue with whoever I talked with over the phone that misquoted the price and wasted my trip. read more

So cool! STOP buying metal from Ace/Lowe's etc. it's 1/4 the price here and they've got every shape/size you could want. Everything is organized super well, prices are easy to see, staff is friendly. I just got into doing fab work myself, and just cut the cost of my project in half by coming here. Really wish they were open on weekends, or at least evenings so that I could come by after work. read more

Wow - What an awesome find for DIYers and hobbyists !!!! While they certainly stock heavy duty products for industrial clients, there is a great selection of smaller sizes for much smaller projects. Aluminum, copper, various grades of steel. In all shapes and sizes. Well lit and well organized. AND while browsing around, I found the remains section which has off-cuts at significant discount. I learned about Industrial Metal Supply from a machinist friend who purchases all his metal from them. So, I started purchasing my supplies from Industrial Metal Supply on Charcot Ave in San Jose, CA as well. The employees at this place are class act people. Quality of service is far better than any other metal supply store I've dealt with in the Bay Area. Their show room is elegant, organized, and clean. You can easily find what you need by walking through the aisles. Their employees frequently offer to help find what you need. And their prices are notably better than the other metal stores in San Jose (much more reasonable). I don't normally write a review for any business. I researched where we could buy metal for my husband who is hobbies in metal products. We visited this new location in San Jose and hate to say but this because my husband will be spending lots of time here when he needs his metal supplies.
