Supposedly this was the home base of the guy who had the concession to go get exotic animals to be slaughtered in the Roman Coliseum by gladiators in the famous games. This huge property has a wide assortment of floor mosaics including a long hall with scenes from the hunt in Africa and India depicting all kinds of animals. Really cool. You will walk on elevated walkways above the murals to maximize the views. The craftsmanship is truly outstanding. We spent about 1-1/2 hours to see it all and it is well signed in Italian and English so it's easy to know what you are seeing. Not to be missed

Everything is clearly marked and easy to find from the road. Try to go when there aren't a lot of crowds as the constructed passages that allow you to look down on the mosaics can be quite narrow. I found it nice to linger a bit to look more carefully at the mosaics. If you have even the faintest interest in Roman history, you'll need to stop here. If you've taken any Latin class, you'll recognize some of the mosaics from the textbooks.

Ordering the tickets online via get Your Guide we turned up in the Chiesa della Badia di Sant'Agata at 20:30 for a 1.5 hours hommage to Bellini. The setting is great, the musicians (2 violins, a viola & a cello) superb with, in addition 2 fantastic singers. A great experience for an evening out in Catania.

Ushers were helpful in finding my seat even with the language barrier. Take note there is no bar for a refreshment or glass of wine at intermission but do take the time to walk around and explore the theater.

The moat outside the Castle could use some love, but the inside more than makes up for it. We really wanted to see a soccer game in Sicily so Catania was the lucky team to get us! We had…read moregreat seats for $25. The home team section cheered and drummed and shot off confetti it was fantastic. On the first floor when you enter there are some rest rooms. On the second floor there is a bar. But very few people were drinking alcohol in the stands. The security staff wasn't able to help us find out seats but the hostess girls are all around and they are super helpful. It's not a new stadium and could use a coat of paint, but honestly who cares? The game was fun and the views were Etna made it even better!
