My stylist was Makayah; I was already a bit restless since I don't go to hair salons often.... like not even yearly. She was very gracious in answering my many questions about the exact colors, products, even effects of chlorine on colored hair. I figured ya pay all that money, right? Well... I couldn't believe the prices! At another place I paid $90 (I am almost embarrassed to say) Great Clips for a coloring plus $15 more for a haircut. But Makayah's price was not only quite a bit lower, haircut was included! I'm so happy with my lovely hair color and new style! Makayah was a true professional, a sweet spirit who listened and I WILL be back... like even BEFORE a year!

Oh, and then to lay there for an entire appointment and get to hear about how it's YOUR fault they all fell out is super fun. I've had lashes for the last 4 years, this isn't my first rodeo, im happy to learn new after care tips or routines, but i don't need to be harped on for 90 minutes, thanks, especially when I don't control how YOU work. 1st- it is standard practice to cleanse lashes before starting on a fill. this is never done here. 2nd, any loose or overgrown lashes should be removed. This is also not done. and lastly, BONDANT/SEALANT SHOULD BE USED AND SET PRIOR TO THE CLIENT LEAVING.... sometimes done. there's also never anyone at the front desk, ever, so you're left to stand there awkwardly until someone comes to get you. the one time there was a gal answering phones, she was incredibly rude to a guest named Nancy, who had a highlighting service booked for the next day. Nancy called to ask approximately how long the serice might take, one assumes, so that she could plan the rest of her day. the gal answering the phone told her she had no idea, and no, she couldn't ask, as the stylist was not in, and no, she didn't know how long she was booked for, and NO NANCY, THAT'S NOT REALLY MY JOB, OKAY? She then ran right back to the stylist she said was not in, and started talking about Nancy, (i assume that stylist had someone in her chair currently as well), telling her that she was glad she wasnt going to be in tomorrow, because she didn't want to deal with a Karen like Nancy. so while im sure that ill be the Karen after posting my review, im good with that. i tried to love this place, but it just can't get its shit together. beautiful place, shitty staff.

The stylists listen to you and give you cuts that look great, are easy to manage at home, and grow out well. Every time I've gone in, I've come out feeling confident. I'd had bad experiences at other salons with getting a haircut I didn't ask for, or getting one that was shoddily done, or for way too much money! US Male is a good price, and a great value. Seriously, even when I moved to another state for graduate school, I still would come back to this salon when I visited home.
