Tibits is a chain, better-for-you, buffet-style restaurant throughout Switzerland. After visiting…read moretheir location in Basel, we stopped by this location in Bern for lunch. It's one level where you wait in line to go around the buffet oval filled with salads and vegetarian food. The "Tatar Salad" is my favorite. Every plate comes with a roll and they have gluten-free options. Once done, they weigh your plate. It is pricey for a plate. There's plenty of seating and free WiFi.

We were lucky enough to be in Bern on a Tuesday - Tibits do 'Vegan Tuesdays', where all the items…read moreon their buffet are vegan! What a result! The food is priced by weight, so you can choose exactly the quantity you think you will eat and only pay for that amount. No waste. I love that idea. I've seen it across Europe, but it's not something that you ever see in the UK. I was really pleased with the choice of vegetables and filled my place with a salad of sugar snap peas, soya beans, broccoli, then chose an escalope to go with it, along with some other delicious items. We were so delighted with our lunch that we went back for dinner. The dauphinoise potatoes (vegan of course!) were a real treat, and I loved them with lots of green beans with garlic, delicious mushrooms, some other veg, and a wee pie thing that turned out to be like a baked samosa. I finished off with a hot chocolate and a pastry/bun type thing - I'd clocked earlier that they always have vegan cakes. Hooray! They also have smoothies and juices too. Something for everyone.

Came here for dinner tonight and honestly... one of the most beautiful places I've ever eaten. The…read morescenery and atmosphere are just stunning. Dinner is downstairs, and then there's a really cool bar upstairs with couches and little balcony-style seating where you can hang out before or after dinner. Our waitress was great from the start and took such good care of us. We ordered the beef carpaccio and the duck to start, and both were incredible. The carpaccio was hands down one of the best I've had in Switzerland. The duck came with a slaw and sliced apples, which was such a perfect pairing (srsly so good. For mains, my boyfriend ordered the lamb duo and said it was amazing, especially with the wine risotto. I ordered the cordon bleu and... wow. Just wow. It came with fries and ketchup, but the cordon bleu itself was unreal. As soon as you cut into it, the cheese inside is just chef's kiss!!!! We didn't even make it to dessert because we were completely full (which says a lot). Between the food, the service, and the setting, this place is absolutely worth it. Such a special experience. Highly recommend.

After we walked in and requested a table for five, the host looked us up and down, then with a smack of his lips told us "about a fifty minute wait". Clearly not true as over 75% of the restaurant was empty. Immediately, I went outside and successfully made a reservation for 3 minutes later. Of course, I did not actually dine there after receiving that sort of welcome. Try not to judge your customers by looks or clothing. You just missed out on a large cheque. To those who like matches or need a light: I will give one star for having a big jar of matchbooks. Just go down and grab some! Pretty nice and compact.
