Linda saved my breastfeeding journey and I highly recommend seeing her asap if you are having tear-inducing pain from nursing. I knew from experience with nursing my first baby that it would be difficult and take several weeks for it to be pain-free, but if I stuck it out, it would be rewarding and bring a lot of joy. With my second baby, I did everything to ensure we would have a successful nursing relationship in her early weeks. Meet with a private IBCLC? Check. Get ties released? Check. Work on supply issues? Check. Body work with a chiropractor to loosen up tense muscles? Check. I did everything right, so why did it get progressively harder every week? At 7 weeks postpartum, I started having excruciating pain from nipple vasospasms which left me crying in bed after every nursing session. It's a type of pain that no new mother deserves to experience, and pretty much everyone told me to switch to formula. I wasn't ready to pull the trigger yet and attempted to troubleshoot the pain on my own since my healthcare providers were not much help. The lack of support was tough and in a last attempt to save my breastfeeding relationship, I reached out to Linda Gage for a second opinion. She was incredibly quick to get the process going and arrived for a home visit a couple days later. The first few weeks with Linda were spent reversing damage done by the poor advice from an IBCLC that I had been seeing. Linda suggested different latch positions that helped avoid the damaged areas and made sure I was fitted with the correct flange sizes. She also gave me exercises that helped with my baby's head and tongue mobility. But beyond addressing the painful latch, she was concerned for my mental health and suggested seeing a therapist to help with my postpartum anger and anxiety. Linda continued to provide support and check in on how I was doing outside of our in-person meetings. I was referred to Linda by Dr. Strutz dental office and also Dr. Jon chiropractor office to help with my newborn's latch post tongue and lip tie revision. I contacted Linda and she was able to see me that same week, just a few days post revision which was awesome since that is what was recommended. Linda came to my house for the consult and was on time and very informative. Linda taught me and my son how to breastfeed! She stayed for 1 hr and explained a lot that I did not know! Linda provided support to our family when we needed it the most. I desperately wanted to breastfeed our son and after a long birth and a delay in milk we struggled to get a good latch. Once my milk came in and we were able to get him to latch it was so incredibly painful that I knew it was not sustainable.
