My daughter's experience at Inly School has been nothing short of life-changing ... not just for her, but for so many of her peers as well. It has been such a joy to watch her and her friends grow into poised, confident, thoughtful young people. One of the things that makes Inly so special is its emphasis on theater. And to be clear, theater is not just for "theater kids." It's for anyone who wants to succeed in life. Have you ever had to give a presentation at work? A theater background would help. Have you ever had to advocate for yourself to a boss or manager? Theater experience would help there too. Especially in today's fast-moving, AI-driven world, the people who stand out are those who are poised, strong communicators, and able to advocate for themselves. That is one of the greatest gifts Inly has given my daughter. We chose Inly seven years ago because every person we met who knew an Inly student had nothing but wonderful things to say about them. Now, I feel so proud and grateful to say that my daughter and her friends are part of that same group. I also want to briefly acknowledge some of the less positive reviews. I genuinely feel for families whose experiences may not have been what they hoped for. No school is the perfect fit for every child, and some of those criticisms may be valid. I can only speak from our experience, which has been overwhelmingly positive, and the growth in my daughter is evident every single day. There is also a new Head of School as of September 2025, and that leadership change has already brought meaningful improvements. There has been a clear effort to create more consistency in the quality of education across classrooms. Inly's student-led learning model has long been one of its greatest strengths, though at times that approach may have led to some inconsistency between levels, classes, and students. It is clear the school is actively working on that. What has not changed ... and has certainly not diminished ... is the magic of Inly and the remarkable education its students receive. During conversations with admissions staff, there was little room for meaningful dialogue or questions. Meetings often felt one-sided, with extensive talking at families rather than listening to them or engaging collaboratively. This imbalance in communication made the process feel more performative than genuinely collaborative, and made it difficult to view the process as student-centered when so little space was made for authentic family input. read more

As a student who attended Inly school for four years, I am excited to leave and there is many reasons 1. PE once a week only 2. They don't challenge the mind 3. One time when I was in 4th grade I got 1+1 on my homework, this is supporting the 2nd reason 4. They make you do a play even if you don't want to 5.because they have mixed grades (ex: 4-6) in classes, we get the same lessons over and over 6. They are money hungry and constantly ask for donations. 7. Rich families are favored over middle class kids, for example one kid at the school who's name I will not state, gets his way all the time Because his parents are the top donators of the school, he could do anything with no consequences 8. Unless you're a kid with rich parents, you are A criminal to them, you could say a word like "shit" and they make you have lunch with the principal and right a reflection. 9. We chose Inly for our family because we valued creativity and emotional development. For my child with ADHD, the freedom and model worked very well. However, my other child was repeatedly assaulted by another student during recess for months. I think the "freedom to express" at Inly may just be a lack of adult oversight. Due to the negligence of the school, my daughter has lifelong trauma, and we left the school and moved as a result. Unfortunately, I'm not the only parent who had this happen to their child. I have three children at Inly. Each of them runs into school every day with a smile on their face. We are privileged to have our thirteen year old in her 11th and final year at this wonderful community school. In addition to superb leadership, faculty, and staff, the greatest strength of this school is their holistic approach to education and emphasis on both the individual and a healthy social environment. Values such as tolerance, kindness, and altruism are rooted in the school culture from toddler through middle school. The building blocks of the Inly community start with multi-age classrooms which allow children to learn and develop these values and to work at a variety of levels. The classroom structure creates a leadership role for each elder level: kindergarten, and grades three, six and eight. Self-confidence, one's role in the greater community, and comfort with adults and children of all ages are fostered through drama, experiential learning, and sports programs. These values and the student's daily struggle with them are exemplified in the Middle School Open Water Rowing Program run by the Hull Lifesaving Museum. Teenagers of all personality types, many at the peak of self-consciousness and sensitivity are required to put all that aside one morning a month to learn to row and work as a team to power a large wooden rowboat through the Harbor. No school is perfect although in our time at Inly we have seen enormous improvements. The biggest weakness for our family is the small school size, but for many families this is preferable. The sports program and facilities are limited but have grown to include Montessori league teams in soccer, basketball and flag football. In keeping with the Montessori philosophy the school is non-competitive and does not give out awards, for our family this was not an issue. I highly recommend Inly School as a place where your child will be nurtured as an individual and encouraged to find their place in a community that really does instill a life-long love of learning! read more

Our youngest daughter entered Inly as a fourth grader and graduated in 2008 after receiving an outstanding and inspirational education. Each student is challenged and supported by dedicated faculty and staff to become a learner for life! Inly is a school community that embraces not only its students, but also their families and provides a culture where joyful learning is the norm, rather than the exception. Our daughter, now a senior at a local independent secondary school, still returns to Inly to be part of various events and visit with other graduates.
