Something just seems different here? New owners? I am not sure. This is my usual go to when I am in Sturgeon Bay. The olive tapenade & goat cheese was ok. It could have used some olive oil. We asked for gluten free bread and multigrain crostini's. We only got the GF bread. The chicken risotto was ok. The sauce was really good but the dish was lacking in veggies and chicken. I sat at the bar and had a great experience. The bartender recommended her must-see stops in town and the surrounding areas, and I took notes. She recommended the Green Goddess salad and a few other favorites. I chose the Green Goddess and Salmon. My salad was fresh! Most of the time, we eat lettuce shipped in on a truck across the state. This salad tasted as if it came straight out of someone's garden in town. Now I'm spoiled and won't look at lettuce the same again. The salmon was slightly overcooked, but it was still good. The homemade green goddess was amazing. I do wish the bread crumb pieces were a little bigger so I could have a crunch element. (just me being picky) I didn't notice they were there, and I love the crunch of croutons on a salad. I didn't drink or have dessert, but the dessert selection sounded amazing! read more

I had a delightful dinner at the Cedar Crossing restaurant recently in Sturgeon Bay. I began my meal with the cheese curd appetizer that was great with dipping sauce perfect for it. For my entrée I ordered the garlic Parmesan cod plate and was stupendous. Service was wonderful and I drank the fresh Coast ale. Inn at Cedar Crossing sounds like the title of a Debbie Macomber book, doesn't it? But no, this place is part bar, part restaurant, part B&B-style hotel, all in the cozy little town of Sturgeon Bay. I started my visit at the bar, because my table for dinner wasn't ready. The server praised the cherry old fashioned, so of course I ordered one. This particular old fashioned was made with brandy, not bourbon, so it tasted a little sweeter to me. The cherry flavor and slightly rusty pink color was a nice touch. When in Door County, order the cherry things. After my little drink, I was able to peek upstairs at the hotel and guest bedrooms. These cats have a plethora of breakfast and other food items out in the kitchen area for guests. They offer house-made morning buns, granola and scones! I need to stay here the next time I'm visiting Door County, for real. Finally, dinner. My dinner companions and I ordered a bunch of different appetizers: cheese curds (of course), artichoke gorgonzola dip with multigrain crostini, hummus and naan, and bread for the table. It was a lot of delicious food. The Caesar salad was really good -- nicely dressed with slivers of parmesan and bite-sized croutons. My entree was the beef tenderloin: 8 ounces of beef filet topped with red wine herbed butter, a baked potato, and sautéed onions and mushrooms. I eat steak maybe twice a year, and I'm glad I made this meal one of the times I ordered the steak because it was amazing. We ordered dessert for everyone to share: the cherry pie (naturally), and a big piece of chocolate mousse cake. There were half a dozen people at the table, and we couldn't finish all of the dessert because they were huge portions. They have an OK wine list here (a half dozen reds and half dozen whites). Mostly, though, they specialize in cocktails, which you'll definitely want to get. read more

Nothing wrong with the room or food. The people there work very hard and do a good and thorough job, and the food is good too.

What a wonderful gem! We came here over the weekend, and we both stayed in the Inn and dined at the restaurant. Let's start with the Inn. The check in process was all remote and clever. Basically the room is prepared for you in advance, the code is emailed to you, and the keys are ready for you once you arrive. The room was fantastic - the decor was lovely, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom / bathtub perfectly clean. There were pastries waiting for us in the room upon arrival. The Inn has a continental breakfast, which was wonderful. Plenty of fruit options, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, and freshly baked pastries available. The coffee brewed was local and delicious. The restaurant was equally as delightful. We came in early around 4:30/5 for dinner on Sunday, and we were able to be seated promptly. That being said, the restaurant filled quickly despite the early time. We started with the feta lemon peppercorn spread and naan bread, and it was delicious! Then, I opted for the half chicken Sunday night special, which came with vegetable of the day (asparagus for that day) and mashed red potatoes - very generous serving and very tasty! My boyfriend went with the walleye, which he said was fantastic. Then, we couldn't leave without a taste of their cherry pie, and it was phenomenal. While we didn't get cocktails during dinner, we did check out the bar the night before, and their old fashioneds were spot on. Overall, we were incredibly happy with our experience here. A small B&B style inn located on the upper floor of an historic building in downtown Sturgeon Bay. The inn consists of 9 rooms decorated with antique furniture and small, older motel-style bathrooms. We had rooms 6 (Queen) and 9 (king). Both had fireplaces and enough room to spread out and settle in. Room 9 also has a large balcony with table and chairs. This place is cozy and nice for a short stay and was a great base for our visit with family in the area. It does operate a bit differently: 1. Pay attention to the pre arrival emails-there's not always someone staffing the desk so you need the door code to get into the building. 2.There's not really any "checking in" process- the room you reserved (all are upstairs-no elevator-pack light) will have your room key and is unlocked when you arrive and they bill you the day you are scheduled to arrive 3. They run your credit card in advance -just leave your key at the end of your stay-no checking out 4. There is no housekeeping just a spot to help yourselves if you need more tiny shampoo, Kleenex etc 5. There's a daily "help yourself " continental breakfast with juice, coffee, milk, tea, cereal, fruit, yogurt and sugary scones all individually packaged. Enough to get you going. I think much of this is a remnant of the COVID protocols and it just seems to work for them. Our room was fairly quiet although the beds and pillows are super hard. If driving, bring a pillow from home. read more

We dined here both nights. Cherry cosmo was wonderful: both times Hummus hit the spot too- fresh veggies crispy. Gorgonzola dip a little salty Beet salad was tasty. I had chicken on it and my husband the shrimp. Risotto was tasty, had the right bite. Service was great the first night- though the food all came out at once and great second night, she even pre split the risotto for us. We need a place like this in my town in CA LOL. read more

Update: Manager/General Manager were contacted and listened with empathy. The acting manager had debriefed them and concurred that the service was not representative of the establishment. GM was very generous in resolving the situation, more generous than she needed to be and we told her so. She genuinely wanted to make things right so that we would give the establishment another chance. No grudges - hoping next time is smoother. They deserve another chance. read more

"Lava" cake tasted like a tv dinner brownie and yet somehow more dry. Risotto was watery. Mac and cheese had the texture of mashed potatoes and tasted cheeseless. Mac would be disappointed. The only saving grace was the side of roasted potatoes - only $3 what a steal. read more

what a wonderful lunch experience. We stopped on our way home from a lovely get away in Door County and had a great lunch at the Inn. We were seated at a big table by the window which was nice as we could see people walking by as we waited for our food and while we ate. Nice, upscale atmosphere with friendly service. Two of us ordered the quiche of the day and they both enjoyed their meals. I ordered the fried perch sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both were excellent. The fish was lightly breaded and fried to perfection, served piping hot with tater sauce. Prices were a bit high but the food was well worth the price. Street parking and lots to see on the street if you are looking for shopping experiences. My friend had a specialty Manhattan and really enjoyed it. Great dining experience in a quaint little town in Door County. I would recommend it highly. read more

First time (Sunday) 4+ second visit (Monday) 3-. First day waitress very helpful and food, martini, and take home cherry pie all good. The waitress did say the chef could substitute salmon in a menu dish which was done no problem. When went a second day after making a brief stop in a local supper club that was a non-starter for us so we walked out and went back to the Inn. Second day waitress was terrible and stated the chef could not substitute salmon for the same dish had the day before. We had to inform her that it could and was done previously. She was uncooperative and had a chip on her shoulder all during service. My second visit dish was bad. There were about $8 of capers in a $20 dish that overwhelmed the taste. Different chef? We would still stop again but likely only on a weekend. read more

Super solid lunch with excellent service. We stopped in during a day trip to Sturgeon Bay because the lunch menu was pretty interesting. Glad we did! The interior is classy casual with William Morris wallpaper, beautiful lighting and comfortable banquettes. We started with empanadas ($8) - a little pricey for 2 smallish pieces but they were completely delicious. The mister had a fried chicken sandwich that he said was really good and I had the falafel burger ($13) which was great - really flavorful and topped with hummus, feta and a bit of sriracha. This review is solely about the Inn. I have yet to eat at the restaurant but the inn is absolutely lovely and deserves its own review here! We have now stayed here twice while visiting Sturgeon Bay. The inn is right on third street which is basically where all of the shops, bars and restaurants are. It is the perfect location! Although you are right "downtown" in Sturgeon Bay, the rooms and town are quiet at night so you will get plenty of sleep. Each of the rooms is a bit different in style. We have stayed in room 5 both times and loved the aesthetic. It was tastefully decorated. Small, but comfortable for a couple. The breakfast offered in the morning is wonderful! They have homemade granola, cherry scones and morning buns. The cherry scones are delicious! They also have other items out and in the fridge that you can snack on as needed. They even have ice packs ready to go if you are planning on hiking or heading to the beach for the day and have some stuff you want to bring along and keep cold! The best part about the inn is the service. From the person who calls you to confirm your check in and provide you with those details, to the woman at the desk who is just SOO lovely, it is amazing. My husband and I (and our service dog Maui!!) will always stay at this inn when we are in the area. Price is good and experience is top notch. read more

What an amazing find! The food here was so good that I ate here 3x during my trip lol! The menu has a ton of options really something for everyone, everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. Service was great and (especially during covid times) the order to table time was incredible which was great because I get hangry. Also very pretty decor and so clean. I didn't take pics of everything I tried but here's what we did try. Also when we went for lunch it was late in the day so it was busy when we got there and then slowed down before dinner so I grabbed a couple pics :) BLT with grilled chicken - open faced sandwich, perfect portion size, everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned, I love BLT's and the chicken just adds so much filling protein. This is what brought me back two more times! Health Salad - healthy grains, carrots, veggies, we added grilled chicken. 85/ hard to find healthy, fresh, clean food when traveling and this really hit the spot! Falafel bites - homemade falafel was soooo good and you can tell it's home made. I didn't try the falafel sandwich but I bet it's sooo good. If I ever come back to Sturgeon Bay I'm coming back for it lol. Cheese curds - no words. So good. Get them even if you don't think you want them. Spinach salad - ok so I don't even like spinach but it's healthy and had sliced apples and walnuts and homemade cherry vinaigrette so it seemed like a good healthy choice bc I'm traveling, right? Well it was so good, I ordered it again the next day again and added grilled shrimp. I don't have a pic with the shrimp bc I gobbled it up but they were fresh and big and perfectly cooked. Crab cakes - very good, it's a family recipe the girl said. If you like crab cakes, you'll love them! Next time I'm in town I'm coming to try the crab cake sliders for sure. Caesar salad - awesome and they make their own croutons. Beef empanadas - simple and delicious, well seasoned ground beef filling in a dough pocket. This menu is so unique really. Walleye Sandwich - fried fish, perfectly coated on a delicious potato bun. Soooo good! Soup of the day was a beef and barley. They used filet mignon for the beef. It was sooooo tender and juicy. They also have fresh baked goods on the shelf by the register. Get a cinnamon sugar morning bun and chocolate chip cookies if you're lucky enough to score some. So good! Also - I'd like to address the reviews saying prices are high. Where are you from? I'm from NY and I thought this place was underpriced for the quality, freshness and given the fact that it's a pandemic. Cook at home if you can't afford to pay a few bucks for someone to serve you homemade food. Restaurants are a tough business operating on small profit margins (I used to own one). The Rubin sandwiches excellent along with the perch lunch plate. I would recommend this for lunch. The menu does not include gluten free or other adjustments one might need. Good service but surprised when we said we hated a drink they didn't take it away or remove from bill. My drink was like drinking maple syrup out of a jar (supposed to be old fashioned). Their burrata dish with crostini is a bit weird. The combination is a bit strange and the fact they serve it with toasted bread with cheese on top makes no sense to me. We asked for soft bread on the side and was a bit better. We had the cherry pie but it was nothing to write home about. It was just ok. Too sweet for me but maybe that's me. People seem very nice but not a place I would go back for for food. Do not recommend unless nothing else is open. read more

The perch sandwich was delicious! It had 4 half pieces of nicely breaded perch. No bones, YAY! The TURKEY BRIE sandwich was nice with sliced turkey piled high with a tasty berry chutney on it. The only food I thought was NOT up to par was the BEEF EMPANADA. The pastry was delicious and spot on but the beef inside was TERRIBLE! It was just ground beef with absolutly no spices or flavor. They'd really have something there if they only used like a short rib filling or pot roast. TAKE NOTE, OWNERS! You're half way there on those empanadas! A beet salad was good but the perch sandwich was on an unimpressive bun with 3 little fish and steak fries from a frozen bag. Doesn't rise to the price point, especially given the excellent meals we had in Door over the weekend. After many years (and staying in the Inn) we can no longer recommend. **Note to management.. the folks behind us were welcomed by the staff "haven't seen you in a while" and they also commented because no brunch! read more

Brunch was fabulous. I loved the frittata: you can go with three or more than three adds to the dish to suit your fancies. I also treated myself to the Mimosa flight: the blackberry mint was my favorite; the lavender lemon was a bit strong for my tastes. The ambiance of this older establishment is charming and sweet. I love the ceiling and wall decor, especially. My one critique would be that the service was slow and the servers and hostess were not the friendliest. The chilly vibes from restaurant staff could have been due to the large number of people they were serving for Sunday brunch but even if that is the case, there are ways to be more welcoming and kind throughout someone's dining experience. read more
