Sadly, no I don't recommend it here. Unfortunately they've deleted reviews, and didn't even contact the person that left it to address the concerns they had. That person spent close to 10 thousand dollars at this school. The upside for Insignia is that it deleted the only bad review they had, so now it's all 5 stars. The people were great! But the course isn't. I heard that they've actually had to revamp the course since I went because it was mostly notes written by a different teacher (spelling mistakes and all) being read aloud, and Youtube videos. At least once a week in my class someone would cry. Not because the class was hard, but because someone in faculty would be disrespecting students. It was brought up MANY times (by myself and other students) but not really addressed. Our last day of classes we were berated by our teacher, after she showed up late. Before I even start in the class, I was told they let a student in. but she probably wasn't going to do very good. I was told "You'll know who it is". That student did do poorly, and ultimately dropped out after not enough support from the school itself. It was also brought up to the owner of the school, Sharon, that two of the students were cheating on tests. She told me, and the other students that brought it forward to her that there would be something done. Nothing ever was, which was confirmed with one of the students that cheated on the test. What I would say before taking the Vet Assistant course (at this school, or any other schools) would be to check the wages. On Vancouver island I found that the wages on average is about $14/hr. I had actually been told in an interview "We'd really love to pay living wage, but just can't afford it". The skills that you learn in the class are mostly skills that would be taught to you if you apply off the street. Vet Assisting is not a job that needs this course. The course does give you a one-up on other applicants though, which is nice. Too bad that you're unable to pay your bills, and pay off the loan you would have taken out to take this course. I would honestly say that the Vet Tech course would be better. I also do not wish to be contacted in regards to this review. I am currently taking Pharmacy Technician Program. Quite tough program if you are working in the afternoon or have other commitments in life. But it's a great program. Job is pretty much guaranteed after taking this program. Well, as long as you don't have a bad personality or attitude. :) This is probably the best decision I made in my life so far. I have not only gained knowledge, but very valuable lessons in life. If you are thinking about taking this program, stop reading those reviews and just go visit the school and ask for a tour and you could even talk to someone who is actually taking the program. Insignia overcharges students for a program that is taught by people not qualified to do the job they are teaching. The "advisors" are uninformed and mislead students about the process of getting registered in the profession they are pursuing. They also greatly exaggerate the career possibilities available for graduates. Do yourself a favor: GO ANYWHERE ELSE Vancouver Career College looks like a decent option and charges HALF the price of Insignia. Wherever you go, do your research- its your future! read more

I previously completed a program at another college. In comparison, the lowest "1" score is the only rating I can possibly give Insignia. Insignia's full-time medical program delivers important core language and physiology courses at a pace that is twice as fast as "accelerated delivery" at a competitor college. Students who were concerned about being competent workers in the medical profession were not reassured by the brutally short classroom delivery time. In addition, the college charges extremely high tuition fees. Student loan funding may not cover tuition at this school so expect to work or have other financial support besides a student loan. Make an informed decision. Get accurate program costs, apply for student loan funding BEFORE signing the Insignia student agreement and forecast probable funding shortfalls, all very important to student success. read more

Future Potential Students of Insignia College DO NOT APPLY! I can honestly say that this "school" is the biggest waste and money grab you will ever experience in an academic setting. You will not receive a breakdown for your $9,000.00 but I can tell you that the quality of books, materials and lecture do not reflect $9,000.00. You will be taught by someone who is not a Veterinarian or an Registered Animal Health Technician. You will be taught by someone who has a "University Pedigree" but who has only recently done work in a clinic setting. Despite the honest efforts of this business professional you will find your self asking questions to better your education that will only be answered with "I don't know." The learning environment is unstable and in some situations you will find your self asking what did I learn today? and not having an answer. There are some modules you will take that are 1 week long, but when they say it is one week long that means the final is on Friday and review is Thursday and you are expected to learn a insanely large amount of new materials in 3 days. Not only is that unprofessional but it is reflected in the grades of present and past students, and despite the pleas of students to make the course longer it is now 3 days long and you are expected to write a university level paper in those 3 days as well; completely removing precious study time from already hectic lives. Shortly after finishing your last one week long module you will discover that all the stress and effort put in is for not. You will not use the information in those modules in a Veterinary Assisting position. Why? because things like Pharmacology, Anaesthetic and Dentistry are the jobs of Veterinarians and Technicians are you are just there to mop up blood, fur, feces and urine and when that is all done you need to sterilize surgical equipment and do surgical laundry. Your "Mentors" Paul and Sharon will constantly berate you, they will pit you against your class mates and constantly compare you. You will never feel safe in your learning environment and it is not encouraged to make friends. Good Luck finding a practicum, most clinics in Greater Victoria and surrounding communities will smile and welcome any person looking to volunteer or job shadow. However; do not mention you are an Insignia Student or else they will ignore your emails and phone calls and turn you away harshly at the door. My advice to students who want to take this path is put in the extra effort and upgrade so that you can go to TRU or go to Douglas College. There are volunteer and job shadowing experiences available at most clinics and some may even employ you because of your passion for animals and desire for the field. You can learn everything on the job and it is the most encouraged way in this industry to learn as all clinics will do things differently and all Veterinarians will have different protocols. Do not let Insignia take your money and force feed you their bullshit. There are better, more reputable options out there just do your research. read more

Just a scam for your money. The materials they use to teach you are photo copies of who knows what or are printed straight from the internet. Although they still charge you a ridiculous amount for all of it and make sure you sign your life away so you are unable to challenge it later. They make you memorize things you will never use in the field but don't teach you any practical work once so ever. The teachers are under qualified and have never taught before, and they are desperate for teachers so they will take anyone who comes to them. I was blown away at how I wasted my life's savings and a year of my life to ace every "test" and yet get into the field and have not one clue what I was doing. For your own good, please avoid this school and make sure others do as well. I could write a novel on all the ways they scam you and I know people from 4 different graduating classes that would say the same. And PS there are no jobs available so don't expect to find work on the island after. read more
