I would have liked to given 5 stars but....the sugar cookie for the grandchild was missing. I ordered 20 cookies and received 19 I ordered them to be delivered at 7:30, before the grands went to bed. They didn't arrive until after 8. The cookies are good. They didn't turn hard like some people had in their reviews. I go here probably once a month and it can be hit or miss, tonight I ordered cookies and they are harder and staler than a rock and weren't even warmed up. Insomnia cookies are awesome. They are warm and delicious. And the smell of fresh baked cookies upon walking into the store reminds you of when your mom or grandmother would make you fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. As for the taste... soft and chewy is how I like them and they were beyond expectation. And thanks to Ashley for donating cookies to the Cedar Falls Post Prom for all of the attenders left with a warm cookie of their choice. This place really stands out on college hill. In a sea of tattoo shops and bars this place is very different. Walking in to coolers filled with milk and smell of fresh cookies in the air. Insomnia is located on the hill and has been here for about 3-4 years because this store was all tour guides could talk about when I was on tours in 2015. The cookies are good but they are not like mom makes them. They keep the cookies in a warmer and if you don't eat them within a few hours of buying them they dry out and harden. This place is also overpriced. For 12 traditional cookies its $16.50 which is a price hike from the summer of 2015 when it was a lot less. You can make better cookies on your own, you can even buy a dozen cookies from hyvee for $3.99 and microwave them for 5-10 seconds and have the same effect as insomnia for much cheaper. read more

This small shop was right across the street from University of Northern IA campus. I got 2 dozen cookies to bring to my daughters basketball team. If you need more than 2 dozen, you have to phone ahead. I was expecting more of a bakery but except for the cookies in a warmer, there were no other baked options. The cookies were boxed in a pizza box for takeout. I didn't try any cookies but apparently they were very good and were eaten quickly after the game to much fanfare. read more

This is the second time we have not gotten our order delivered. I even called to check on the order when it was 15 mins late and was told they were still baking the cookies. That was 15 mins ago. Wow! What a great treat! I ordered online and thirty minutes later warm cookies at my door! We got the 12 pack and their daily special was 3 free chocolate chunk cookies. It was $15 for the dozen, $1.99 delivery fee and then tip. We ordered each of the cookie flavors. My fav was snicker doodle and my husbands was peanut butter chip. The oatmeal raisin & mint chocolate chip cookies are the best; I have good taste, and so does "Arthur" (per the receipt tickets server name). Did an order last night, with plenty of time before they were supposed to close. 45 minutes later, 5 minutes after they said they closed, they decided to give a call and say that they had just realized that the order had been placed, and that they weren't going to fulfill it. So much for late night delivery. Lo and behold, today just before having to leave for work, they had tossed the order onto the door step, and left it there in disarray. Horrible delivery and customer service. Do not recommend this place at all. Doesn't matter if the cookies are passable in taste at this point. read more

I am glad this wasn't on campus when I was a college student. Love their peanut butter cookie the most. I could do without their chocolate chip because I can do it better at home. My only complaint is they jam 3 hot cookies into a tiny bag so they are all stuck together by the time you get home. read more
