I have been a client for 20+ years. My homeowners insurance renewal is due next month so I called customer service to confirm coverages and pricing. I am writing this letter as a formal complaint about my car insurance company INTACT insurance!! After my car was stolen in August 12th 2018. For the past 10 years, I have paid monthly My car insurance to get full coverage on all my vehicles. And on this beautiful August day , my SUV was stolen !! If I would of driven drunk that day and not taking a cab , my SUV would still be in my possession !! As a responsible person took a cab home the next day I immediately noticed my vehicle was gone! I made several calls inquiring about my vehicle to Tow companies, public security, then the police ! I reported my theft to the police and insurance . After Six months of grief payments and accusations they never paid for my car theft!! BAD COMPANY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE Only EXCUSES THIEVES WORST COMPANY All said and done this still does not explain the fact that my vehicle will not be replaced ! I I HAD TO BUY A NEW ONE AT MY OWN EXPENSE!! To make things worse, after canceling all my insurance, signing a legal release Of my insurance , the cancelled on me before receiving my signed legal document!!! Therefore once an insurance company cancels your contract ... no one wants to give you insurance!!!! read more

Warning on getting a rental car/waiting for a service inspection I was told two different things from different customer service representatives. Before going to pick up my rental car, I called into Customer Server to check that even if the work was not covered, that Intact would pay for the rental car for the delay period before the Intact inspector went to go and assess the vehicle. Being assured by your Customer Service representative was the only reason I went to go and get the rental Car. I was told that the car would be covered until the Intact inspector could go and see the vehicle, as there was a 3 day delay. When they went, my dealership called me to tell me that the work was not covered. I did not get a call from Intact to confirm this until 5 business days later. On this call, they told me the rental car was not covered by Intact nor were the repairs. Good thing that my dealership had my back and warned me to go and return the car, so that I only had it for 1 day, as they knew that Intact would not cover. I think it is pretty disappointing that the Customer Service rep that I spoke to told me that they would cover the rental car until my vehicle was assessed, because it is not drivable. I would advise that you align your service department on your own policies, so that this does not happen again in the future. read more

Beware of Intact Insurance (also sold under the banners National Bank Insurance & Belair Insurance). They are completely unprofessional when it comes time to processing a claim, and they utilize undocumented policies (applying their interpretation of policy) to reduce the amount they have to pay. As an example, I made a claim with them this summer for my above ground pool which got damaged during the winter. Not only did it take them 3 months to process my claim, they also applied depreciation to the installation cost of my new pool, claiming it's their policy. While their policy does indicate depreciation will be applied to the pool based on the age of the pool, there is no specific mention as it pertains to the labour cost to install the new pool. After several escalations internally, they refused to pay the full cost of the installation of my new pool. I have since changed insurance companies, to one where logic prevails and labour costs are not depreciated in the event of a claim. Shame on you Intact! read more
