New policy holder. I never knew it was so difficult to pay my policy. Too many hoops to jump through. I sign up, 10 days later I get a temporary slip, 15 days later I get a registered letter telling me I am delinquent and they are going to cancel my policy, one week later I get my policy that states the billing date and the amount that was MORE than was told to me over the phone. $40 NSF charge, $40 processing fee, then I have to fight with Intact to make a payment. They told me they only accept registered money orders or certified cheques because it is faster. I asked them if a certified cheque and 2 weeks travel time was faster than a credit card payment? I was transferred to several departments. I was finally directed to go to Intact.ca to make a CREDIT CARD payment. 2.5 hours wasted. Thanks Intact! read more

The app is absolutely garbage! Doesn't record trips- shows time traveled, zero km recorded. Called customer service they told me to enable a feature, and now I can't even open the open. This company is a joke. The MyDrive discounts is a scam. They say 20% discount and they only give 1 fourth of it because they calculate it as they wish. !0 years of clean record, zero accidents, zero speed tickets etc and my insurance keeps going up. My car's value is 8k and I am paying half the value of the car annually for this terrible company. I tried to get rid of all comprehensive etc and it only makes 40$ difference which means they are dedicated to screw people. I got many quotes with less than 170$ and I don't have to pay double that for this scam company. Can't wait for august. read more

Horrible customer service. Don't trust the Ombudsman of Intact to step in and help deal with your claim. I made multiple complaints about the way the adjuster was handling my claim. I ended up suing Intact, they still owe me money and put me through hell. read more

HORRIBLE! I was in a car accident and determined by the intact it was not my fault, however they refuse to cover the cost of the damage. Instead they are trying to make me pay more money for additional tests to conclude that the damage was in fact related to the accident. They left me for more than 4 weeks and I was the one who initiated the call. they took my rental away, refused to help me in any way, never returned calls, never followed up with me about anything. I took my Jeep out of the mechanics and got a second opinion, my Jeep was fixed in less than a day. 94.00 total...... I will be leaving this company, and I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

I will never recommend intact. they are a massive rip off and will find anyway possible to make more money off you when other insurances would lower payments. Their driving app as well is a major joke and made it completely impossible for you to get a good score let alone a decent discount. If you want good affordable insurance I recommend Belair Direct where I switched and am now saving $100 a month on insurance and am getting more for what I was paying at intact. Also beware of Intacts cancelation fees its costing me $180 on top of my last monthly payment just to cancel my account with them. read more

Intact Insurance is probably one of the worst companies that I have ever dealt with. They are dishonest and misrepresent themselves. They claim in their commercials that they care so much about their clients. They don't give a damn about their clients. They overcharged me for 14 years, and in all that time I never submitted a single claim. However, when I finally woke up and found an insurance company offering MUCH cheaper rates, Intact penalized me with a huge cancellation fee. They said that it was in their right under the FSCO to charge me on a "short rate basis" along with a sizable cancellation fee. Do yourself a favour and find another insurance company. My father is currently on the phone trying to reason with them over a scrape on the side of his brand new 2017 Ford F150 and the company is refusing to pay more then a quarter of the damage which is 900 dollars worth of damage.. he pays 120 a month in insurance premiums and this company cant cover him what a crock. read more

My 'car + home' insurance rate with Intact Insurance increased by 22.97% overnight when i received renewal for 2018 - 2019 period. I called my broker and was told that nothing can be done about it. I am reporting this to BBB, consumer protection agency and Financial Services Commission of Ontario. My total insurance premium for 'car + home' insurance 2017-2018 year was $2,213.15 and 2018-2019 'car + home' insurance statement shows $2,721.72 for the same insurance. I never had any accidents, no claims, no road tickets or any other factors that would cause my insurance to increase by 22.97% in one year. I have been insured with intact for over 3 years and never missed a payment. I strongly recommend to avoid this company if you are looking for insurance and want to get a fair price. read more

Got into a motorcycle accident where I was rear ended and thrown to the ground. My brand new Italian motorcycle had cosmetic damage all over. The claim went smooth at first but after the adjuster looked at the bike they have not responded to phone calls or emails. The mechanic replaced most of the damaged parts but has not been paid. There is still severe cosmetic damage to both my side bags and exaust. The last time I spoke with my adjuster I was told the problems were my fault because I took my motorcycle to a mechanic not on their list (the mechanic I used is the only licensed Moto Guzzi dealer in Toronto ). So two months later and I still have a damaged motorcycle. Intact insurance will only serve as a piece of paper to prove insurance. God help you if you are in a serious accident and they are your insurance provider read more

Very disappointed with Intact. They sure love to take your money, but when you have a claim it is truly a nightmare! In September 2019 I was side swiped by a FedEx double trailer on the freeway and the police determined it was FedEx 100% fault for the accident. We were very fortunate that we were not killed. FedEx wants to pay the cost of the repairs but Beatrice Giansante and Jamie Prinn from INTACT INS. are playing games with me. They tell me to take it to recommended shops then they wont pay for the repairs. I told them I have to go to Florida and my F350 pickup still has something bent or broken on the front, the front end vibrates through the steering wheel and it since burned the tire off the Right Front where most of the accident damage had occurred. The front end vibrated all the way to Florida from Ontario! It is very annoying to drive and probably ruining more things. They do not even deserve ONE star rating! I wish that Intact would stop playing games with me and pay to fix my vehicle properly since it is at the request of FedEx insurance company as well who says they are waiting for Intact. Intact is the WORST insurance company ever. Never use them. Avoid them at all costs. You pay them premiums for years for home insurance then when you finally get a water leak, they refused to pay for any repairs. There is no point in using them, go to BCAA or Coast Capital home insurance, they at least pay for the repairs. read more

I would absolutely never recommend anyone use Intact insurance. My son was recently in a serious car accident, in a vehicle covered by this insurance company , and dealing with Intact has been nightmarish. For the past seven months the only news we ever hear from their service agents are what they cannot or will not do. Requests for written correspondence are ignored and an adjuster has not been assigned to the claim. It appears that little effort is made, by Intact staff, to take detailed notes during phone conversations as it is constantly necessary for me to review my concerns regarding the handling of the case. I have repeatedly requested the contact information for Intact's Ombudsman and nobody will provide his or her name and number. Despite promises to review the file nothing ever happens. It has been a very stressful, difficult time in my life and Intact has done nothing to alleviate the hardships we are experiencing. In five years, I never made a claim and I certainly would have expected more from a company that claims to care. They don't. read more

After being with Aviva for 10 years and having 3 auto and 3 property policies. They cancel my insurance after a filed a claim because some idiot drove their car i into my home. They fixed the damage and as soon as they wrote me a cheque and the next day they cancelled my policy. They file my claim incorrectly causing me to pay higher premiums and push me into high risk. But Intact understood my situation and helped me out of a very bad situation. I would highly recommend them they cared. read more

Intact Insurance is by far the worst insurance company. I am ashamed to admit that I was a loyal customer for 6 years. I am now shopping my policies with different insurers because of their bad faith dealings and questionable business practices, which are a far cry from industry standards. I recently submitted a comprehensive claim in July through Intact and paid my deductible. My car was repaired (took 3 weeks) and the claim was transferred to the subrogation department to determine liability. I followed up on several occasions by e-mail and was told "no news, the subrogation team is still working the file". In December I followed-up again and was told that the adjuster "Cidalia" and her Unit Claims manager "Jay" determined it would be difficult to prove negligence on behalf of the other party and the claim was subsequently abandoned and closed in September without so much as a phone call, letter or e-mail. The adjuster had no qualms finding me 100% at fault. Cidalia and Jay failed to contact me to discuss the accident or ask for additional information. Intact also neglected to send a demand letter to the other party - literally did nothing!! Do not insure your vehicle through Intact. They employ illiterate, simple-minded, ill-mannered, uneducated staff. Consider yourself warned. Do not do business with Intact. Unfortunately I have to give them one "star". zero stars isn't possible with Yelp. :( FSCO should revoke their license. read more
