I love bookstores and when I spotted this one, I went right in. What I found out though was that it was not a bookstore but a magazine store. Sure a lot of bookstores sell mags too but this place was wall-to-wall in magazines and you would be amazed at what kinds. Honestly, pick a subject and you have an excellent chance of finding a mag on the topic. Personally, I love art and literature and there were many in the back part of the store. The great thing is that there are also mags in English. I don't mean just a few stuck in a corner somewhere but a large part of the stock has English ones. On the artsy side, I picked up one on graffiti art and flicked through some literary review ones. I honestly could have spent the whole day in there and spent a lot of money on several purchases. That's the main problem though; they're not cheap! Sure you can get some in the 5 Euro area but the big glossy art type mags can run a lot more than that. Just bring your credit card with you! read more

Als je onvoorbereid binnenwandelt word je omvergeblazen door de massale hoeveelheid strips, poppen, t-shirts en andere comic gadgets. Noem het en het staat er. Denk er aan en je ziet het. Alles maar ook alles is voorhanden.In bijna twintig jaar tijd is Mekanik strip uitgegroeid van een klein winkeltje, een voorschoot groot tot een pretmagazijn. De Comic Art and Warehouse, oftewel de kunstgalerij op de eerste verdieping, was en is wat mij betreft revolutionair. Gevestigde waarden als Charles Burns en Glen Barr minder maar ook jonge mensjes in de striptekenwedstrijd "What's your excuse?!"' krijgen een platform. Oh ja en voor je binnenstapt, kijk zeker even naar boven!
