To start the day, I was prepped by her make-up artist who was phenomenal. During the session, she gave great directions and posed me to get the best angles for the photos. The preview I saw of the photos (even without retouching) were gorgeous. It made me feel so good and confident about myself. I can't say enough about my experience. Just had my fantastic Hawt Shots session! The entire process was flawless. Theresa Mocini is…read moreoutstanding in her customer service orientation. I only had a small window I could go for a shoot and, even though I wasn't able to give her much notice and she's officially booked through August, she juggled things around to fit me in. I then received a tips email and a reminder email prior to the session. Her studio is quite inconspicuous on the outside. Once inside there's a pleasant sitting area, a makeover room and a lovely boudoir room. Theresa starts by reviewing the process step-by-step including photo purchase options. I really appreciated everything being clarified up front like that. Then off to the boudoir room (no hair/makeup for me this time) and again Theresa carefully reviewed the game plan. 3 wardrobe changes, 3 poses per wardrobe change, and varity within the pose (look up, look at me, look over your shoulder, that sort of thing). Theresa demonstrated the poses and had lots of patience with me as I did my best to replicate them :-) The hour flew by and the pace was fast, yet eveything was relaxed and we had fun along the way chitchatting about all sorts of stuff. She shared some raw results in her viewfinder which were outstanding. I'm a long way from photogenic but Theresa obviously knows just what to do to accenuate your positives, hide your negatives and make you look good. Looking at her work on her web site and Facebook page she spends a lot of painstaking time on retouching to ensure providing results that delight.

How is it that all the 5 star ratings are missing from the reviews and only the negative ones are showing up?? Hmmmm...a little biased? Now on the to the most important part, the actual review. I initially received a Groupon from my husband as a gift to go to Hawt Shots. I am not an insecure woman, however, I am a plus size woman and have had some seriously negative experiences with other photographers. In addition to that, my husband gave me the gift when I was 7 months pregnant with our miracle baby. Every preconceived notion I had about Theresa was blown away. I try not to judge a book by a cover, but my initial thoughts were, "What does this gorgeous, petite, woman, know about posing my pregnant plus size curves?" Boy would she prove me wrong. My photos were amazing and worth every penny. My first session was March 9, 2013. I would come back again to have photos done of my daughter and I together after she was born. Then again for Christmas 2013. I will be back again for our anniversary this year!! I love Theresa's work so much that I gladly volunteer to promote her work, to tell other woman about her, and hand out her cards. She loves her job and she loves helping women fulfill their beauty potential and empowering them. She was made for this job. She loves it and she loves the women she works for. She truly does not care what size you are what your insecurities are. She will help you love parts of you that you didn't know was possible. I just didn't want to waste her time if she is thinking shes doing a shoot which was not the case. So I called left a VM no answer or callback. So the next day I proceeded to go 45 minutes into downtown houston, waiting around the lofts for about 10 minutes called her multiple times and got forwarded and never answered the door to her studio. One of my Other friends who had shown me this boutique had known her personally and reached out, ONLY THEN DID SHE DECIDE to text me some message on how MY appointment got cancelled and if I wanted to reschedule. I think its completely unprofessional to cancel an appointment for a someone and not let them know and just leave them in the dust. if this is how she is even for shopping I cant imagine how unprofessional she is in her other endeavors.

I was not in a very body-positive mindset the evening before and even walking into the studio the day of, but that quickly changed as I talked with Julia and her team. My nerves calmed when Laura started on my makeup, and Kendall handed me a glass of champagne. Leading up to the photoshoot, I received several emails with information regarding their downtown warehouse loft location right across from Minute Made Park and parking. They also included how to best prepare for the shoot--from what to wear, skincare suggestions, and where to buy high-quality lingerie if I didn't already have some. The email sent the day before let me know the timeline and everything that would take place that day. Their excellent communication certainly helped me relax before the big day! Laura did a beautiful job on my makeup. I typically wear very natural and light makeup, and it was fun to see the drama she added, so my makeup would stand out for the shoot! I still looked like myself, which was important to me. While Laura did my makeup, Kendall went through the several outfits I had packed and my jewelry to pick out the shoot styles. She and Julia decided to put me in a few pieces from Julia's lingerie line, and they were absolutely stunning! It was wonderful to hand over the final decision making to their team of professionals and relax. Once my hair and makeup were done, I got to see the outfits that had been styled for me, and we started the shoot. Julia demonstrated and talked me through exactly what poses I'd be doing for each shot. She kept saying "gorgeous" or "perfect" with every shot, and it definitely boosted my confidence. By the end of the shoot, we had several stunning photos to choose from, and we sat together to whittle down the choices. This was the most challenging part of the experience, and I was stunned to see myself on the screen. Was that really me? The lighting was stunning. The curves and angles were so feminine and breathtaking. She and her team had managed to bring out the goddess in me, and I couldn't have felt more confident leaving the studio. I will be recommending ShineOn Boudoir to all of my friends. Men and women alike! They also shoot couples, which could be such a fun gift for a birthday or holiday. I'm certainly hoping my upcoming birthday involves a gift certificate so I can snag more of the photos I had to weed out from this shoot! Highly recommend!

I finally committed to using Lighthouse Boudoir and I would highly recommend Sontera to anyone! My biggest fear when committing to this was that I would get my pictures back and not like them. After months and months and months of researching and looking at other pictures online on various websites, I felt like my pictures would never live up to what I had seen others look like in front of the camera. Boy was I wrong!!! I was more nervous on reveal day of the proofs than I was in front of the camera, but Sontera delivered the most amazing and beautiful pictures I had ever seen of myself! My favorite part of the shoot was the fact that I was one-on-one with Sontera and there was never a moment of awkwardness. Jenna took the time to get to know me and find out what I was looking for in our wedding pictures. She did not simply show up on the day of the wedding; she got coffee with me a month before the wedding to get to know each other (her idea!). Trust me, that made a BIG difference in my comfort level on wedding day. She was not a random girl taking our pictures - she was Jenna, the girl who cares! It was honestly like having a friend taking all of our photos. Jenna is friendly, classy, talented, and funny.
