First time the judge said the paperwork was filed wrong. Second time he came late we were in December and when he came late the judge was done so he continued to first week of. This office had me in thier calender since then. The surprise is that his assistant called me before the court by five days telling me that he will not come to the court to represent me because he has to go to chesapeake. The court does not want to continue cause it is the third time. He is putting me in very bad situation after he had is the one who continued till may. So from December till May he could not tell me earlier that he does not want to go to the court. First, no responsibility to handle people matters. Second, he put the claint in bad position because who will be able to find another attorney in a few days. Third, being told to go represent myself in the court alone is not appropriate. I don't even know where to start. We went to his office to talk to him about my case, he seemed like he knew what he was doing so we decided to hire him. I was told that I would need to take a paper to the court to continue my case because Cline was out of town. Fine. The court date was continued. There was a period of 2 months between that court date and the next one. I never heard from him. I called, emailed, left messages, nothing. The case was important to my husband and I. Seemed like it wasn't at all to him. Two days before the court date, he called me back and we briefly discussed my case. When we got to court it was a disaster. He had no clue what was going on and when the judge asked him questions he was lost. Embarrassing. The court date was continued again. When leaving he pretty much told me good luck I'll see you next court date. No help or anything. Mind you my husband and I have had to go through a lot of hoops which our particular situation. In between the court dates same thing...nothing. Until finally Clines law partner reaches out. He was the only one who actually communicated with us and helped us. Which is the only reason like I said this place gets a star at all. All and all Cline was not a good choice for us.

I was given the name of an attorney who would be handling my will and I was emailed an intake form, which I promptly completed. Two weeks later, when I called to have the consultation appointment, I was told that the attorney I was assigned would not be available at our scheduled time because the form was missing key information. Why wasn't this brought to my attention sooner? I pressed the matter, believing I had filled out the intake form comprehensively, as much as was possible given the obvious constraints of certain form fields. The legal assistant on the phone apologized and sent me a new form and said the attorney now needed me to fill it out because there were fields added that were not a part of the old form. Evidently the form they initially requested was changed within the time I waited for the consultation appointment, but this was never brought to my attention nor communicated proactively. This is all to say that this was very disappointing--to learn of the mishandled intake form and a request for a new form to be filled out, albeit at the time of the consultation appointment, an appointment that had been scheduled for approximately two weeks. It may seem like a small detail, and yet it was enough to erode my confidence that other matters would be handled prudently.

I'll be honest in saying that at the time I wasn't overly sure I had made the right decision. Mr. Yates is a straight shooter and may come off as less compassionate than you would hope for.
