I especially enjoyed speaking with her about her volunteer trips to provide exams and glasses to those in the Philippines. She is fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi and has practiced in several different countries.She takes the time to ensure that her patients will have the best eyesight possible, even when it means repeatedly showing me options "A' and "B" until I can determine which is clearer. The staff were all dressed up and gave the kids a great welcome as well as helping Momma set the appointment up with great care. We waited in a private sitting area that offered a wide variety of drinks, books and television for the clients. Once called into meet with the Doctor the staff helped wrangle the kid patient with their treats and smiles before the Dr. arrived moments later. We could not have been more pleased with our check up and left with an above average understanding of what we were dealing with and a progressive plan of how to deal with it. When i received my order i noticed that i couldn't see well out of either the glasses or contact lenses. I went back to see what the issue was and had my eyes tested again and received a different prescription. This was within weeks....the original prescription i was given was wrong...obviously. Instead of taking responsibility for this mistake they in fact made me pay for the visit and did nothing about the glasses or contacts that were now useless. Be aware of the clinic you are going to that's all I'm going to say. I won't be going back ever. Since my visit I've heard from friends that this has happened to them also at this clinic.

They offer coffee, tea, and water, there's a closet for your jacket in the waiting area. The area is never half full with plenty of seats and magazines on the table while you're waiting. When I went for my last eye exam, I didn't need to wait long for the pre-exam scans. I had to wait a few minutes in the other waiting area for the Doctor but there are lots of magazines to keep me entertained. The Doctor is friendly and personable and I don't feel rushed if I have questions to ask him about my eyes and products. He will show me my scan and let me know how it looks. He walks me out to the front where I pay for my exam. They direct bill to Blue Cross which is convenient. I haven't bought glasses here and I'm not sure how the prices compare to other places but they were busy when I was there and no one was available to show me frames right away. They have a sale now that's second frame free with a purchase of a full pair until the end of the year so I have time if I decide I want to buy glasses here.

DO NOT GO HERE! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE! Where do I begin. Absolutely horrible experience…read moremore than once and I've finally had it. I've been going to Optiks for 15+ years to see the optometrist and purchase glasses. One stop shop so it was perfect and I don't recall having any issues but it only took one appalling incident to change that forever. Here's what happened; I took my son to see Dr. Nimrit K. Nijjar at this location for his annual check up and she gave us a "corrective" prescription. Immediately the glasses irritated his eyes, I gave it 2 weeks to adjust and still his eyes were severely irritated and swollen from rubbing. I took my son in to have the prescription re-checked. Dr. Nimrit K. Nijjar said it was fine. He wore his glasses for another week and still nothing was better. I then took him elsewhere for a second opinion. I was horrified to learn that my son did not need corrective lenses and that his very minor issues will adjust on its own and in a few years it would have corrected itself. What upset me the most was to learn he now has a scar on his eye from the rubbing caused by weeks of irritation. During the month this was all happening, I was due for my exam with Dr. Nimrit K. Nijjar as well and this time it was suggested that I get bifocals, so that I could see my work computer clearer, however I have issues seeing far away, not close up which is what bifocals are for. I was a bit confused. I also started having issues and irritation with my vision and so I then went for a second opinion and lone behold, I again was given a bogus prescription and I did not even need bifocals. As many people know, bifocal lenses are very expensive. I was livid. I contacted Optiks to tell them the situation so they could rectify the problem and when I could drop the glasses off for them to adjust. I also asked for the blue tint to be removed while they're at it because it made my skin look horribly orange. The woman scoffed at me, told me that I would have to pay for new lenses and restocking fees, but they weren't willing to do so until I paid a $50 charge that was on my account for removing the blue tint on one of the two new pairs week or so prior (I couldn't afford to do both new pairs at once). Basically, they wanted me to pay for their screw up, and the woman I spoke to had a nasty entitled ignorant attitude. When I spoke to the manager, she told me that it was pretty much my fault and was unwilling to help me unless I pay for all the corrections even if I don't agree with the Dr's prescription. I couldn't believe that I paid over $1,000 just on my glasses and I couldn't even use them. I felt so helpless and frustrated that I couldn't help but cry. As a last ditch effort, I called the Sherwood park Optiks, explained my situation, and if there is any way they could help me or be the mediator in the situation. They were equally horrified by my experience and they (Chantal & Jeanette) was all over it. They asked me to come in and they were able send my glasses in to be fixed on a rush basis free of charge. They also gave me a very thoughtful gift because a grandparent had passed shortly before I went in. The Sherwood park location bent over backwards to fix the issues that WERE NOT THEIRS TO FIX! Chantal and Jeanette are absolutely amazing people and amazing professionals. I will not be going anywhere but the Sherwood park location going forward. Another positive note to add, my son recently went for a check up and he now has 20/20 as the second doctor guessed. Unfortunately, the scar will always be there and I am in the process of obtaining a medical opinion on the prognosis of the scar, if it will get worse, if he will need specialty lenses if he one day needs glasses, corrective surgery, etc. DO NOT GO HERE! You will pay one way or the other and treated like absolute garbage once they have your money.

I walked out paying $1,100 and all I had was one pair of glasses and 6 months' worth of contacts. Now keep in mind that my prescription is a bit strong so I'm extremely choosy when it comes to the frame I want. Lightweight and stylish is very important to me. I'm willing to pay extra for glasses that are not only comfortable but look great. I will say that the selection in the store is impressive but the customer service from the very first visit was not where it should be. I asked about contact lenses and was told that they would not use my prescription, forced me to use their optometrist. This has already rubbed me the wrong way. I had already ordered the glasses and paid for them so I'm stuck now, I need contacts for work so here we are forced to pay the $50 to spend 10 minutes with the optometrist knowing what I already knew. Order placed for glasses and contacts so now cue the disorganization. I get a call roughly a week later that my glasses have arrived, thinking that the order I complete I stop in to pick my stuff up. When they said glasses they meant only glasses! It sucks because it is way out of my way to visit this store. Now that means another trip will be required, not that it matters though because I wasn't wearing the new glasses without my contacts anyway because this prescription is slightly different from before and I'm not willing to mix and match different prescriptions. A week after the call for my glasses the contacts arrive. Finally, the order is complete. I left knowing that I overpaid heavily for what I received. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago (a year later) when I need to reorder contact lenses, I ordered online thinking it would be easier. 3 weeks go by as not a response! Poor poor service in my books. I then received a call today saying that if I need contacts I'll have to come in for an eye exam! This is completely new to me and I've worn contacts for years and years! Talk about a money grab! The girl on the phone was rude as well. So from now on, I'll order my contacts from clearly.ca 6 months worth for $139. Sorry Optiks but you can take your 2 for 1 and shove it where the sun doesn't shine! You've lost me, I'll never return and never ever recommend!

First of all, Bailey, who helped us find our frames and adjusted glasses (and basically did everything but the eye exam) was a fantastic, amazing salesperson and I wish she was my friend she's so fun. She was so helpful in finding proper frames for my face and was honest without looking to upsell me on more expensive frames. The eye exam was super thorough, which I appreciate (even though my eyes were tired by the end!) and I feel good about my eye health going forward. It turns out, my previous glasses had a prescription that was too strong!!! And I have needed reading glasses! Thank god for Vision by Design. They have a loyal customer for life!
