Great souvenir place near San Marco plaza. There are tons to pick from. I highly recommend this…read moreplace because of their friendly service! The guy (owner I believe) was a gem! I don't bargain when I shop in an actual store, the owner offered a few euros off the things I was already buying. I didn't even ask! Then he continues on with offering more discounts as I looked thru the store. He was generous with giving discounts!! The more you talk to him, the more discounts he gives !! He's the guy in the black jacket in my pic.

As much as Venice is one of the world's most visited cities it's hard to find a high-quality…read moresouvenir made locally, despite souvenir stores making up a huge portion of the stores in Venice. These stores or stalls look practically identical; the shop/stall owner may or may not be Italian and they'll be selling the same types of t-shirts, magnets, keychains, Carnevale masks and jewelry made of Murano glass. These souvenirs can be of dubious quality and most likely not be made in Italy. When I souvenir shop for people I avoid those stores like the plague. I try as much as possible to shop locally wherever I go and in most places when I do find a good shop I find it by accident. Feelin' Venice is an example of a local shop. A group of Venetians artists and architects got together and created a shop to share their passion of Venice through their art (https://prontopia.com/venice/feelin-venice-local-venice-shopping-with-a-sustainable-city-vision/). You'll notice immediately as you step in the shop the difference in the layout and content from other souvenir stores. The shop feels more clean, the layouts is more simple and the designs in their merchandise is more contemporary. More importantly you see the people running the shop passionate about both their business and their home city. The shop has the staple T-shirts, bags, mugs and stationery but the designs are obviously more thought out and represent the city well. However this particular business has won me over because this was the store that I bought my most favorite souvenir of my 2 week trip: a rope bracelet with an attached iron prow that adorns all Venetian gondolas. I immediately fell in love with the bracelet at first sight and purchased it immediately. My only regret was that they sold it in only one size. I ended up losing it 2 weeks later and had to order a replacement online in a smaller size. The shop is located somewhere along San Marco. Use Google Maps if you don't want to get lost finding the store.
Small shop. Only adult sizes. Mostly just t-shirts and posters, but some designs are nice.read more

This store has beautiful glass products but the service is absolutely horrendous. My partner and I…read morejust went and purchased 70 euro worth of small glass items. I don't know about Italy, but 70 euro is a lot of people's full day wage in Canada. The store attendant, probably the owner, couldn't care less for the business. He criticized us for spending "hours" choosing some inexpensive products (we were in the store for about 15 minutes). He made fun of us for asking for a price concession. He said his products are better than "Chanel". He started to get so verbally abusive and was shouting. The ego of this shop owner is something else...

It's unassuming exterior does not do justice to the beautiful costumes inside. Although we were not in the market for buying a costume, we were very happy to discover that they created exquisite masquerade masks. After several days of looking at hordes and hordes and hordes of mass produced, Chinese - made masks in all the souvenir shops, it was a relief to finally discover true artisans! Flavia was a very hospitable shopkeeper. She went out of her way to demonstrate all the different kinds of costumes that they provided, showed us pictures of amazing balls that they helped host, fantastical costumes she had created... We didn't just purchase wonderful masks; we had a cultural experience! Thank you Flávia for providing us such a unique experience!!

We came to spend a few days in Venice and knew right off the bat we were going to get some sort of…read moremask as souvenir. Masks seems to be a thing in Venice. Some are little more than a painted mask with some painted designs to them. And some as intricate as a work of art. Such is this shop. Joie de Vivre is not a souvenir shop, this is a specialty store that carries only masks and some puppets. We were talking to the son of the owner who told us his father makes every single mask, he has been doing it for 30 years and learned the craft from his grandfather. We couldn't really take pictures but trust me when I tell you these masks are amazing. They are so intricate I only bought a small one because of lack of space in my luggage, but even so I would've been remiss to buy one and not being able to bring it back to the US intact. They are too pretty to just throw in a suitcase.
