Irashiai Sushi Pub is one of my favorite places to go for sushi in the Greenville/Spartanburg area. It is always delicious. We went this past weekend. I got my old favorite the "cowgirl" roll. It has spicy crab, jalapeños and lemon zest inside. It is topped with thin slices of seared steak. Those flavors go so great together! It is served with ponzu sauce. I also tried a different roll "jumping shrimp". It has tempura shrimp and avocado inside. It's topped with sushi shrimp and spicy chili sauce. It was very good. Another favorite of mine is the "Mr T" roll. It has spicy crab inside. It is topped with a drizzle of unagi sauce. All of the appetizers i have tried through my years of dining here have been delicious. The servers are always attentive and give great tips on different sushi rolls to try. Their newest location on Congaree road is spacious with a cozy ambiance. To sum it up you need to try Irashiai Sushi! Their food is always fresh and delicious. I appreciate their prices not being so outrageous like some of the other sushi restaurants. They always keep me coming back. read more

Sadly this place is a has-been. The jalapeño roulette is still decent and you can't go wrong with the sixth sense specialty roll, but don't even think about ordering a basic hand roll. They aren't listed on the menu, however, they claim they can make. Then on the bill, they charge you a ridiculous price for a tiny piece of fish wrapped in rice. They don't even have a way of properly ringing it up. They charge you for a bowl of rice and each individual item. Super weird for a sushi restaurant. Hand rolls are cheaper downtown. Server was great. Owner...not so much. Rude and difficult. Won't be back. Too many other great sushi places. read more

I went to the old address. Restaurant has moved to 723 Congaree Road in Greenville (old Chiefs). New location, but the food is still great! The mussels are my favorite and will always be the first thing I order. You can never go wrong with the Jumping Shrimp sushi roll. I did not care for the Angry Shrimp. They taste oily and not much flavor otherwise. The wings were a new try for me. Do yourself a favor and get them! Location is nice and clean! I will be sure to frequent this spot more often. read more

Absolutely outstanding! The place is beautiful, the vibe is sit down and enjoy, the staff are friendly, welcoming, accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly, the sushi is amazing. Nothing negative to say about anything if I tried. The bartender was incredible and so accommodating. Second time here and I already can't wait to come back. This place is not the same anymore. We used to come here for years and love the food but unfortunately the customer service has gone down the drain making the food not even worth it any more. We came in 30 minutes before closing and were treated like criminals starting from the host to the waiters. I don't know if I'll be back here again. What a shame. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but this one definitely deserves it. My husband and I came around 8:00pm for a date night and only waited 10 minutes to get a seat (not bad at all). Our waiter asks us what we want to drink/appetizer and got our first drink pretty quick. After that, not really anything until I had to wave our waiter down to get my husband another beer. We sat there for nearly an hour waiting on food and for them to bring that second beer. When we asked how long it will be for the food the waiter said it'll be 30-40 minutes until the food is out. Didn't even get to try the sushi or stickers we ordered so can't tell you how the food was. Really disappointed with the service but I'm willing to come back and try the food. read more

Irashai is a favorite go to for my wife and I. And she loves sushi! The cowgirl roll and the fire shrimp roll are probably our two favorite rolls, though we also often get the blazing tuna. I'm also a big fan of the bird's nest; baked crab in avocado is delicious! The ambiance is laid back and pleasant. It's out of downtown which is nice for parking. The service is pretty good for the most part, though they do look a little disorganized at times. The servers are nice though and the food is always worth it. Wow!!! Why have I not come here sooner?! Their sushi is amazing and probably one of the best I've had in Greenville! I've been to many sushi places downtown and those are great...but then I went to Irashiai and am obsessed. They have a huge variety of sushi rolls and they're very generous in size. Their menu is a picture menu and I'm all about seeing what I'm ordering. They also have great hibachi and udon options. I had the Lucky Cat which was essentially raw fish on raw fish which I love. But really tuna and yellow tail with an amazing combo of spicy mayo and unagi sauce on spicy salmon. So good!! And let's talk drinks. $5 glasses of wine?! Heck yes! Ambience was cold, as was the air in general causing food to get cold but the inside is very clean and roomy and updated. The music playing was odd.. every emotion from the 2000s was playing. From Ludacris to JB's One Less Lonely Girl and all rap was explicit so don't bring granny here LOL. $70 for two people and disappointing food. Not our cup of tea, won't be back. read more

Today was our first experience at this restaurant for lunch. We ordered sushi--tuna and a California roll. It was the worst sushi I've ever had! The rice was cold, hard and unseasoned. Totally inedible and an embarrassing example of their culinary talents or lack thereof. We also ordered tea that was bland and watered down and priced exborbitantly! A total rip-off! My sister started getting take out every Wednesday. I was curious and she took me to eat in. It was delicious but I didn't necessarily want it again. I got chicken hibachi and we shared the crab fingers which were AMAZING. I didn't care for the sauce but it was alright. After my sister continued to get takeout literally every Wednesday. I was curious to try it again. I got it and it was so good. Something about it that time was really good. The flavor was great. I gave the sauce another change and it was a great additive to the crab fingers. I have started getting with my sister and one time decided to try the honey chicken. It wasn't the best. It was a little fried but because of the sauce it was soggy. The sauce just wasn't the best. I finally kept with my chicken hibachi and it's great. Doesn't disappoint. I didn't try the shrimp but they are so small and drenched in sauce that I couldn't really enjoy them. Also lastly the fried rice isn't really fried rice. No vegetables or anything. I think it's lightly sauced and then cooked differently. I am not sure what the normal rice tastes like but I'll have to try it. Overall great food. 10/10 recommend. Of course every place will have issues but it's consistent and good. read more

Irashiai is one of the better places for sushi in the area for it's price point, but recently I noticed that their food can be inconsistent. It can be hard to catch them on a good day. The fire shrimp was good, and they were accommodating, because I am lactose intolerant I asked to substitute for avocado instead of cream cheese. On the other hand, the tuna square was worse this time. Previous times I went, they cubed the tuna that is placed on top the sushi rolls, this time looked as if it was chewed and on placed on the sushi rolls more reminiscent of a 'spicy tuna' style. I noticed it had a good amount of gristle, perhaps the change was an attempt to hide it. While this may be one of the better restaurants for the price point, in my opinion there are better sushi restaurants in Greenville at a higher price point but you definitely get what you pay for. read more

I love the sushi and appetizers here. They have happy hour from 5-7pm Mon-Thur. And they are open for lunch Sunday-Friday. Update (6/16/19): The rolls here are super thickkk and filling. Honestly would be really stuff with just an appetizer and a roll. I've tried a number of things from the menu. I like their salad dressing. It's like a ginger vinaigrette. The tornado cucumber is really refreshing and you have a choice of what protein you want for it. The tornado cucumber is like a veggie salad slash sushi roll where everything is wrapped with cucumber instead of rice. I usually go for a salmon tornado cucumber. There's a vinaigrette sauce that is poured on it and it's really tasty and evicts the blandness of the cucumber and veggies of the dish. My favorite roll is the lucky cat. Their crab fingers are good so but gets tiring really quick. Their string beans age are pretty good but I think it would be better if it was tempura instead of just battered (kind of like a fried okra). Their sashimi is hit or miss. Had a reservation for 20 tonight at 5:30. Was seated immediately at our table. We had the back room to ourselves so the party was comfortable. Our server was fantastic! He stayed on top of our drinks and anything we needed. The food and desserts.....delicious! We had a wide range of sushi and hibachi. My son and I shared various rolls - his favorite was the rainbow citrus roll! I personally loved the shrimp roll (I cant recall the exact name) but the waiter recommended it. We were in the mood for some sushi for lunch and came across this gem. I am not sure what other sushi restaurants are like in Greenville, but this one was legit. From start to finish this was a great experience. The outside of the building didn't look that great and I was having second thoughts, but once we opened the door our experience was perfect. The host who greeted us was very polite. It felt like we were actually in Japan eating our lunch. The menu has lots to choose from and we settled on the following rolls: Una Kyu - barbecue eel, sesame seeds, and cucumber, drizzeled with unagi sauce Holy Moly - shrimp, crab, & avocado. Panko fried. Served with Dragon sauce. Greenville Giant - shrimp tempura roll topped with asparagus tempura and masago The food was fresh and tasted excellent. That's part history and part quality, but this spot maintains its local feel while delivering fantastic sushi at truly unbelievable prices. Start with some mussels and an Ahi Hawaiian. Get a nice dry Japanese beer like an Asahi to help cut the creaminess of these dishes. Top it off with your favorite rolls and you'll have an amazing meal at a fraction of what you'd pay elsewhere. Update: went again during covid and had yet another amazing experience. They do have outdoor seating even though the yelp page says they don't. Food and service remain as good as ever. Update: we've been coming here for more than 20 years, since the old Rushmore location. Has long been a holiday family tradition in recent years, so it pains me to say that something has changed for the worse. Came tonight for a family dinner and sadly ended up canceling most of our check and leaving after 2.5 hours had passed and we still didn't have most of our food. Even at the worst of the pandemic things were never this bad. I hope there was some kind of mixup and another table got most of our order and something got overlooked, but the hungry looks on all the other sad faces as we left combined with the other tables who gave up like we did said this was a bigger issue. Add to that the food we did get was not on par with prior experiences and I fear we may have to find a new local sushi joint here. Every other restaurant in Greenville ran smoothly so this isn't a post pandemic issue impacting the entire local industry. Sad to see them fall like this. It's one thing to run behind, but to string people along saying it's almost ready for over 2 hours is insane. Just tell people at the 1 hour mark that we're looking at another 90+ minutes so at least we can cut our losses. Absolutely inconsiderate and unacceptable. Been here several times with no complaints. My last visit was just ok. Got sat immediately on a saturday night. That never happens! Service was bad though. Took a while to be greeted. Drinks were empty and took a while to get siracha sauce. Sushi came out pretty fast but my fiance found a hair in his sushi and it took a while before the server came back. My fiance showed him the hair and he apologized and asked him if he wanted another one. He asked for one to go since we had to be somewhere. That one sushi roll took over 20 minutes! I felt like it should of been a priority since it was messed up. Server came back and told us the reason why we waited so long was because they put it in the "to go area" and he didn't know. I always get the Mr. T. It's good and simple if you don't eat a lot of raw sushi. The popcorn crawfish is always amazing. Gyozas are good. Beef tataki is awesome. If you like your meat medium rare, this is for you. It's smooth like butter and has looks of green onions on it!
