To say Irene is amazing would be a gross understatement. From beginning to end of the process, Irene showed her thoroughness, creativity, and desire to please the customer (me)! I contacted Irene based on my trusty friend, Yelp reviews. I initially utilized her website for contact and she called me that day to chat. During our initial call, I advised her that I looking for a photographer for a wedding gift for my future husband, a boudoir session. Irene was very upfront with cost and the process to get there. She was swift with all communication and set up an initial meeting to discuss outfits and locations to put me at ease for the actual shoot. I arrived at Irene's home for our initial meeting and she walked me through (and showed me) all my options for locations to choose from. She also gave advise on outfits and what would work with which location. Her home and set up is beautiful! On the day of the shoot, I choose to come with my hair and make up all ready completed. As soon as I walked in, Irene commented how great I looked. It was easy to anticipate the flow of the shoot because we reviewed everything in the initial meeting, while I was fully clothed and more comfortable!! It was definitely awkward for the first 5 mins, but Irene quickly made me feel at ease and comfortable. I had three different outfits with three different locations and became more and more comfortable and even brazenly confident as the shoot went on. I've used the services of numerous professIonal photographers over the years, but my experience with Irene Abdou Photography was by far and away better than my experience with any other photographer - ever. I hired Irene to create some business portraits of me for use on a new website, book cover, business card, and other marketing materials. Irene: (1) took the time to understand specifically what I wanted in the headshots, (2) she looked at previous business portraits I had taken and asked me what I liked or didn't like about them, (3) she suggested what I should wear for the photo session, (4) she brainstormed with me about locations for the headshot session that would be relevant to my business as an Intellectual Property attorney, (5) she made me feel comfortable during the photo session, (6) she never made me feel rushed during the photo session, (7) she showed me my headshots during the photo session, (8) she worked with me in my decisions as to which business portraits were the best, (9) she retouched the headshots, (10) she sent the hi-resolution digital files to me without delay, (11) she also went above and beyond in that even severall months after the job was complete, I went back to Irene to request her feedback on which image would be best for a book cover, and she went so far as to provide me her recommendation and modify the horizontal I image to vertical for me to fit the cover. After being a life long "picture taker", last year in the fall, I found myself with more and more opportunity to work in the field of photography. Suddenly I had a great desire to know everything there is to know and understand about taking photographs. I stepped up with a new camera and a mound of books. While I appreciate the auto setting is there, I've never allowed myself to use it. I wanted more. Like learning to drive a car with a standard transmission, I wanted to learn in manual mode. Short cuts did not entice me. I wanted to know how and why pictures work and what makes them art. I started Googling, you-tubing, reading book after book trying to make "it" all come together. I kept getting out there and shooting in manual, trusting that eventually it would click. Last January or so, I was working on LinkedIn for day job, when I decided to do a search on photography. Irene was one of the four options that popped up. I looked at her website and felt an immediate connection with her and her work. I emailed her immediately, we chatted on the phone the next morning. A week later I flew to Maryland. I spent six hours (2 days) working with Irene. Even considering that I had to travel 900 miles to get there, my time away from work, the investment was more than well spent! I have many photographer friends who knew my work and offered to show me the ropes, but I knew the depth of what I wanted to learn - I just felt it would be more for social with friends, and way too time consuming. I took an online dating course for women and part of that course talked about hiring a professional photographer to get the best photos possible to use for online dating. That's when I found Irene through Yelp. She asked all the write questions to get a feel for who I was as a person and which types of images would capture me best. She helped me with ideas for outfits I should wear as well as being able to show me various shooting locations from inside her studios to outside photo shoot locations for me to select which I liked best. I liked how she was extremely organized and professional with her questions. I decided I wanted to try something daring after a horrible previous year do to surgery after surgery so I decided to do a Boudoir photo shoot for my husband as a surprise birthday gift. I had no idea where to start and I found Irene just by doing a google search for boudoir photographers in my area on. Little did I know it would be a life changing experience for me!! I filled out the contact information on her webpage and about 20 mins later was given a call back. She was very upfront and informative about the whole process and just like that we set up a meeting to talk about my vision in person. Irene is so very sweet and easy to work with. She totally knew what I was going for with this intimate shoot which I had never done by the way and looking sexy was like a foreign language. She has a absolutely beautiful home and studio to use but she can also do a place of your choosing. The day of the shoot I was so nervous because I had no idea how to be "sexy" and I have some physical limitations that I was very self-conscious about but Irene was so patient and understanding with me that it made me forget all about it. While i was super nervous when we began Irene had a mirror across from the bed and I caught a glimpse of myself and was blow away that it was myself I was looking at. Irene gave great direction during this shoot and told me I had achieved that "sexy look and pout" that I had no clue how to give when we started but felt like a pro by the time we were finished shooting. I couldn't wait for the finished product. A week or so later she had the proofs ready and called me to come see them. I was BLOWN AWAY!!! I couldn't believe I could ever be so beautiful in all honesty I couldn't believe that was me I was looking at and instantly gave me back all the confidence I had lost with the surgeries I had not to long before hand. I wanted to cry because she did such an amazing job capturing just what I wanted sexy yet still very classy. We picked the photos that I wanted and even added words to a favorite song of mine and my husbands to run along each page of the album we also picked colors and background so it was truly personalized. It was also such a pleasure meeting with Irene that we often kept talking for hours even after the business aspect was finished. She knew I wanted the book back in time for my husbands birthday in August so we got it ordered right away after I picked everything. About 6 weeks later and plenty of time before my husbands birthday the album was ready. When I went to Irene's home to pick it up she had it packaged beautifully and I couldn't wait to see the final product. AMAZING,BEAUTIFUL,HIGH QUALITY,WORK OF ART all these are not even enough to describe the joy and happiness I felt with this album. I am so very happy with both Irene and my album. I had decided to have a reveal party with some of my girlfriends who were just as eager as I was to see the final product. Needless to say they were all sold! From the moment my daughter was born, I wanted to do a fun, outdoor photoshoot with her. Finally this summer, the stars aligned and I was able to book our first shoot. I'd never met Irene nor did I know anyone who had worked with her so I didn't have a lot of expectations but WOW..... did she wind up blowing me away! We hired her using her Groupon deal earlier this year, and she was very professional and nice while taking photos. She also helped with telling us the best time to take pictures when the sun would be at its best. However, we were a bit surprised in her office when she gave us her high prices for those photos. We just wanted a few and weren't that interested to get so many expensive photos. Her attitude changed as soon as she heard that and told us 'Well, what did you expect when you hired a professional photographer?!" It was incredibly rude, and we were pretty upset by that. I recently enlisted Irene's photography services again for a corporate environmental photoshoot. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this concept (as I was), my understanding is that it refers to business photos where the subject is not photographed against a plain, solid-color backdrop. I chose to have my photos taken at the Reston Town Center, which was an excellent choice because of the attractiveness of the shops and the center in general. As before, Irene made me feel very comfortable, despite the freezing temperatures -- it was my brilliant idea to have these photos taken outside during February! My posing skills certainly had not improved since my last session with Irene, so she gave me many different ideas, which proved very helpful. Once we finished taking photos, we sat down in front of her laptop at a Starbucks to view the images. As before, she was very patient with me as I studied the many images. At my request, she was active in the selection process, as I defer to her aesthetic sense. Together, we chose two beautiful images. Because of my thorough nature, I asked Irene a few days later whether it would be alright for me to view the images once again, just to make sure that I didn't miss a real winner. She kindly obliged, and we were able to view the images together (although remotely) by sharing her computer screen. Sure enough, I discovered another image that I really liked, and I ended up purchasing it as well. I appreciated Irene's patience in letting me view the images a second time. For each of the three images selected, we discussed retouching issues, and I felt comfortable that I would love the end results. I purchased digital copies of the three images. For each image, Irene provided me with three different versions -- a high-resolution version, a lower-resolution version, and a square-shaped lower-resolution version. After researching for almost 2 months, I came across Irene's website. Her family portraits posted on website looked so natural and each picture was one of its own kinds.
