So happy a fellow Yelpie reviewed this restaurant as I was craving Jamaican food. This is a go-to spot I recommend everyone! So far it's the best in the area! The team is always so lovely with service. They let me try things my first visit and they're fast. I tried the jerk chicken & curry chicken patties, the jerk one is delicious I personally didn't like the other. I will say last time I got the jerk patty it seemed like less chicken and I'd prefer it less ground. I only ever order the curry chicken lunch as it's affordable and sizable they went up a dollar recently but it's so delicious. They sell Jamaican ice creams as well by pint I'll try them soon. This place is a hit or miss. First, I tried to call in my order, but my call went to voice mail. When I got there, a young guy was on the phone, on what appeared to be personal. Next, this place have quality chicken, but you never know what they have left for the day. As far as I know, this is the only real authentic Caribbean restaurant in Woodbridge VA. However, they are not consistent with their menu items. For example, I ordered a chicken roti. It usually has chicken, chickpeas, potatoes, and loads of spices. On 01/10/25 the waiter ask if I wanted chickpeas, I said yes, this was unusual. Normally, it's a given. When I got home, all I had was a plain roti with chicken. When I call to complain, the same person said they perhaps ran out of chickpeas and potatoes as if it was not a issue. Why wouldn't the chef disclose this upfront? This is not the first time they were out of menu items, but normally they let you know. The fact that I experienced this more than once, I cannot continue to support this establishment. read more

Great flavor with the tiniest bit of heat to the jerk chicken. Stopped here to get a quick bite as I headed home from out of town. There's plenty of free parking and the place was very clean inside. The cashier was very friendly. I got the jerk chicken, which came with rice and beans, cabbage, and a single plantain. That would be my one negative is that there was only one slice of plantain. When you find good Caribbean food, you hold on tight and never let go. 1. Curry Chicken Roti was fantastic. The curry chicken was seasoned perfectly... Probably the best I've had. The roti has like a crumbly chick pea type of situation, wish is kind of strange.... But I kind of just ignored it as best as I could. 2. Jerk chicken was well seasoned! 3. Beef patties were on point. I was disappointed they didn't have any more curry chicken patties. 4. Coco bread was like regular white bread. I've only had actually good Coco bread from only a couple of restaurants. Like actually warm and tasting like coconut, which is what Coco bread should taste like. Wanted some good Jamaican food, and was recommended this place by a friend. The place was clean and set up for either in house dining or take out. When we arrived around lunch time, the dining area was empty, but the take out was very active. We were recommended to order the oxtail dinner as a specialty of the house, but was disappointed that they ran out of this item. However we tried other items on the menu, and I was very disappointed with the lack of taste of my entree. The price was comparable to the amount of food, but the flavor was of watered down meat (as mentioned by another reviewer), and sides that needed the flavor that is expected in island cuisine. According to my friend, this was once a very hotspot when it was first open, but the food quality seemed to have gone downhill since the original chef/owner took a lesser active role. Since I only speak of my personal experience and taste, I recommend that the readers of this review give this spot a try and make up your own opinion. read more

The food is always awesome and the portions are always large (except as someone said for Shrimp dishes). The Roti is spicy but delicious. I will recommend this restaurant many times over. The BEST Caribbean food I've ever tasted. I had the Ox Tails and they were very tender and perfectly seasoned. The rice and peas were also delicious. I'm usually not a fan of the rice but this was really tasty and they give a good amount of it. Also it wasn't dry like in most restaurants. My meal was rounded out with cabbage (which I usually don't like) and it was so good! The point is these folk are very good cooks! By far the worst experience I have ever had. It's unfortunate that this is one of the few shops in the area. I'd recommend taking the trip to go a little further out. It appears this is more of an American establishment trying to pass as authentic, hence the American flag. Food was great. Real jerk! A lot of places seem to have "toned down" their jerk for American pallets, but not Irie. It was as spicy as expected, but flavorful. We are here visiting family, and we heard great things about this restaurant. Unfortunately, neither the jerk nor the curry lived up to the hype. I think they're afraid of spice because nothing had any. Very little meat could be found on the little ox tails. I'd say more, but the lack of flavor really took away from the entire experience. I waited about 15mins in an empty restaurant (which should have been another clue that I should've said forget about it) only to receive this big ole, styrofoam container with a pile of dry, day old brown rice and peas, two burnt ends of plantains and about four pieces of some overcooked, bland pieces of FOR REAL COW TAILS!!. Owner (i guess) running register/taking orders was a bit rude but i guess he was frustrated from the six orders that were waiting(?) maybe cuz they were running out of food (?) but thats only the reason for one of the stars. the other star is because of the roti. Never had roti made from dough that was stuffed with some crumbly powder mix??? Look at the pictures see for yourself. Went to Irie Caribbean for lunch today. They are now allowing call in orders which is new for the business, so I am glad to see this. Only 5 people allowed in the building at a time. After placing your order, you're asked to wait outside, there is a separate entrance and exit. I ordered the lunch size Jerk Chicken and a beef patty. This place is usually my go to spot for my Jamaican fix. However, this was truly disappointing. My beef patty seemed old and the meat inside was dry. I didn't even eat half of it. As for my jerk chicken, it was just ok. My rice was dry, my cabbage was on point. There seems to be a lack of effort now going into the food. I am truly disappointed because Woodbridge doesn't have many gems and this was certainly one of them. I will give it another try though because again this is really all we have. So I will follow up with another review soon hopefully. I'll give it a break for now though. read more

This place is cozy and I really enjoyed the restaurant. It is run and owned by a veteran and his wife and kids. It has a nice ambiance and an island fill. I spent time talking to the owner as I was waiting on my food, which came faster than I thought. This place and the food is wonderful, this family has been in the same spot with the same cook, the owners wife. The place is very welcoming. I had the oxtail, Jamaican beef patty, and curried chicken. The oxtail came in a delicious sauce, rice/black beans, and cabbage/carrots and so did the curried chicken. Both were very good. Oxtail was tender and very good. The rice was and vegetables were very good. The beef patty was very crisp and flaky. The filling was full and good. Oh, yea they have coco bread too.
