This is definitely one of those roadside places that you could easily miss if you're not actively looking for it! The outside looks like a gas station with no pumps, a "Cafe" sign on the awning, and an "Open" sign lit up in the window. If you're there during the lunch rush, you may see 4 or 5 cars/trucks outside parked under the awning. When you go in, there are only 4 or 5 tables and Irma is there to greet you. Go to the refrigerator and grab a bottle/can if you want a soda & ask what the specials for the day are. The past few times I've been there, the Chile Con Carne with freshly made flour tortillas has observably been the popular dish, especially on a cold day. The chips are thick and crunchy, made fresh every day. Some days Irma makes fresh beef or chicken empanadas, and if you're lucky enough she'll make you fresh ones while you wait. If you ever find your self out in northern Decatur off FM 51, definitely give this place a try!

From the outside it's easy to miss. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. However, if you are looking for good food, good prices, and 2 of the sweetest ladies you would ever want to meet, then stop! This hidden gem of a restaurant has a very limited menu, but everything is made by hand and delicious! If you really want a treat, get in here on Saturday morning for the pozole! 5 STARS read more

Irma's is a little place located inside an old gas station across the highway from Decatur Sale Barn just North of Decatur TX. off Hwy 51. The food is amazing and is always home cooked meals! Irma is in the kitchen cooking the food herself and I'm telling you this place is worth the drive! If you are expecting fast run of the mill Mexican food then this is not your place but if you are looking for homemade food and homemade flour tortillas made with love and kindness then you've found it with Irma's! The service is worth the wait for the food! The menudo served only on Sunday's is just like your grandma would make it! Get there early or she may run out! The pozole served Saturday and Sunday is just as amazing as her menudo and it runs out fast too! Today we had the chili relleno and it was amazing. The beef mixture stuffed inside was packed with flavor. Barbacoa tacos were delicious as always and trust me, it's not a roast in disguise. They even made the girls pancakes! I left this cozy little place feeling like I had breakfast at my gramma's house. Irma was in the kitchen whipping up simple but delicious meals. He son, Valentin took our orders and promptly brought out chips and salsa.. for breakfast. Yes please! The refried beans were delectable and unlike any I've ever tasted. I had eggs, chorizo and beans with tortillas. Also had a potato and sausage taco. This is a place we will return to when in the area and craving some "comfort" food. read more

This family owned Mexican restaurant is small with only 4 or 5 tables and has a limited menu of simple but authentic food. Homemade tortillas, chips and salsas are delicious and on Saturdays the "mom" owner/chef makes delicious Pozole crammed with tender pork. You can buy her amazing tamales for $12 per dozen. This lady has a glowing smile from joy as she watched diners enjoying her special food. My wife loved her breakfast taco and I had perfectly prepared eggs over easy with bacon and refried beans. How she makes her flavorful food with only a small amount of salt is anyones guess but obviously is made with a lot of love. It is so good you will want to go to the kitchen and give the chef a hug....as I did. Go try it out. read more

We were a little worried at drive up from the gas station look. You must go inside. This food is off the chain good! Very friendly and they make bulk tamales (chicken and pork) fresh every Saturday morning for dining in or take away. Super friendly w awesome service. Worth the short scenic drive out of town. Great little local cafe. Super nice staff. Food is wonderful. Tortillas are homemade and amazing! Side note - if you get the breakfast tacos, be sure to order them with everything you want on them. If you just say "bacon and potato," they will give you bacon and potato, no egg or cheese. read more

I love this place. Its a little no nonsense Mexican Restaurant on the side of the highway. The food is good, portions generous and flavor authentic. They sell tamales for $12 a dozen. It's really like Irma is your Tia and your visiting her and sitting in her kitchen table. Do yourself a favor and visit this place you won't be disappointed! read more

I particularly recommend the pollo poblano and the beef fajitas, but I also enjoy their street tacos, which I believe are a more recent addition. (Only discovered them on the menu recently, anyway.) Food is fabulous! I had enchiladas (chicken) with rice and beans. Oh my gosh the food was outstanding! Loved it! I asked if she had any stuffed pablano peppers. She didn't but told me she can make them and I could pick them up on Friday. I picked them up and holy buckets they were so good! Can't wait to go back and have more great tasting food!
