    Old Fashioned & Beer

On an unseasonably warm day in October, we decided to hunt down a patio to soak up whatever was left of the residual summer sun. This place looked like a solid spot for some classic bar food and it did not disappoint! Upon walking in you're greeted with a small but charming pub, but as you continue to walk, the back opens up to a large parking lot patio with full sun! We ordered an old fashioned and a beer to cheers a new job offer I had received, then Fish & Chips, and the Porketta Cubano Sandwich. The meals were hearty and cooked well, very large portions, and hit the spot. I love the addition of giardiniera to add pops acid to break up an otherwise meaty & cheesy sandwich. We street parked behind the building in a residential area and walked to the restaurant. If you're looking for a great patio, standard, yet slightly elevated bar fare, and good vibes, this is a great spot! Note: the patio had lots of bees.

This place is so cute. We walked in at 11:08 and they don't open until 11:30 and they very graciously sent us and served as immediately. At 11:30 we were just finishing up our meal. I had the fish and chips it was amazing. Super crispy fish very meaty and not separated from the batter. French fries are frozen fries the kind I really like. My husband had the shrimp tacos I stole the shrimp as I don't like all the rest of the stuff on there it was amazing. He really liked his tacos. My friend had the porketta Cubano and she went for the spicy giardinero she said her nose was running but it was totally worth it. The sandwich was very good. She had fries also. Highly recommend this place It is a little pricey. But good ingredients are expensive

Hey, this place is pretty cool! We opted to pick a place we have not ever been to before. It has a typical bar scene feel, not too bright, not too dark. Their bisects two eating areas. We were put on a wait list since they not take reservations for less than for in the group. The bar and restaurant was semi-crowded due to the MN United game going on. We bellied up to the bar, and a couple were nice of enough to offer us their seats, since the match was almost over (thank you nice couple!). I will say it was a passionate crowd in attendance rooting for the home team, so if you're a United FC fan, this is the place to be. Sitting down at the bar you'll notice the bar is kept clean of empties as well as the bar surface. I would characterize the bar offering s as average. There is not a large array of liquors and liqueurs to make some craft driven specialty drink. They have all the basics to make your standard cocktails. I will note that they have a decent bourbon list. The tap list consisted a spectrum of beers that should appeal to just about anyone's palate. The menus is plenty fun. They obviously have the standard bar-fare; wings, cheese curds, hamburgers etc. One thing stands out and rightfully so is the Porketta. If you like pork roast, you'd think you had died and went to porcine heaven. There are several offerings of dishes that have Porketta. The poutine has Porketta, cheese, French fries and of course the gravy, Nachos with Porketta, and a few sandwiches with the Porketta. We could not really make up our mind so ended up ordering the BWCA salad...because you should mix in a salad in once in a while, and we ordered the poutine and the three Ps (Porketta sandwich, Pasty, and Potica) fully intending on taking a bunch of food home. Boy, we chose well! The Porketta was amazing as I hoped it was, and the pasty was huge, and is served with a side of gravy. I will drive out of my way to eat the Porketta. Note the Potica was a wee bit dry, so I would pass on that sweet. On the service side, even after all the soccer fans cleared out, the service was certainly on the slow side. Not sure why, my wife and I were two of maybe four bar patrons. This is located on Grand avenue, and we know how parking is here. PRO TIP: there is parking in the back, and if the Bank is closed, use their parking lot.

Friends and I sat in the back patio and it was super nice with multiple umbrellas! Perfect for happy hour. The server recommended the fish tacos and they were good! My friends got the turkey burger and beet salad. The mangorita I got was super good! It seemed the menu had multiple strong drinks if your up for that vibe also. Only took a star away since my friend didn't love the beet salad, she didn't say it was bad, but felt the beets weren't as "firm" as she would like. I took a bite and it seemed good overall, but I've also never had beets before lol

Hate to be this guy but I'm ALL about the tall blonde. Pretty sure she gets hit enough but if the food was average I'd still come in lol. The service was superb and she was kicking a**. So about the food.. chef and the cooks be bout the life. That bacon blue had the PERFECT amount of blue cheese. It had chunks and it was creamy, the meat (PAUSE) was juicy and the MF was soft as cuddles on a warm winter night. The cheese curds.. if I was with myself man I could have me if I was a beer drinker had some beer but I could have had me a nice bourbon!! I bet the beer drinkers definitely get the cheese curds like all the time. I can eat the cheese curds without dip EASILY!! I didn't catch the waitresses name but I want to say to the tall blonde thank you for telling me about the cheese curds and the wings. Those f**king dry rub wings!! It's either somebody from Texas or or black man from the hood that made those wings. They are crispy flavorful and moist!! Bruh how you get it like that?! I'm not shameful about my game cuz you know what I did after I went back to the smoke shop I came back place the order online and a ANOTHER order. Pretty sure if I did it on the phone.. I could have added another patty but I need that option online orders. Lastly the only thing negative I must say or request from ownership or management can we please get tap/apple pay!? This is clearly a spot for 21+ adults we don't walk around with our cards. I had to rely on my buddy to pay my bill. That was embarrassing. Let's get with the times huh?? I love the look of this place it's fun. I didn't really get to check out what the bourbon selection is like but next time. I forgot to say something about the fries.. those motha f**kers were SO DAMN DELICIOUS!! I DIDN'T KNOW FRIES COULD BE SO GOOD. Just maybe we can do a spicy ketchup (wink). I know it's not going to happen but I'm just saying maybe a seasonal item?? Chili please. I feel like y'all don't do chilly in the midwest or something?? All the snow we don't do chili?? It's criminal I swear (crying sad face). I could easily see myself becoming a regular here.

    A very-Chocolate cake with Bridgeman's ice cream

Experience was totally grand! Ate in patio area, which I didn't even know existed. Had a delicious Harvest Salad - generous serving amount of all the ingredients (pear, goat cheese, walnuts, etc) and my partner had a cabbage-spiced meat dish he liked, with yummy fries. But the chocolate cake we shared was exceptional - not to be missed if you like chocolate. We were told it was made by the restaurant. We are coming back for live music - perfect setting for it! Thanks, Tom the owner!

This place is awesome! Came here for lunch on the way to a football game. While not a huge place, hubs and I were seated right away. The hostess and waitress we had were both super nice and attentive. Cool, relaxed ambiance with a nod to the MN iron range. Had the pumpkin spice old fashioned- not something I would normally order (Old Fashioned purist here!), but OMG it was awesome! And the food.... Wow! Decided to try something different than the usual burger type thing I'd go for. The porketta sandwich was like nothing I've had. AMAZING. The bread was warm, soft with an awesome crispy crust. And the meat was so tender and flavorful. The fries were delicious- crispy, not greasy, perfectly seasoned. These guys know what's up. Will definitely be back.

Had the Chicken Avocado Sandwich and tots. Food was decent. Great iron range theme bar and restaurant. The server was wonderful, the place was quiet for a Saturday lunch, the atmosphere was amazing. Little hidden gem of a place.

All perfect. All old world. Our favorite very old deli in West Palm Beach was sold 1.5 years ago and gone gone gone are the DELIGHTFUL happy charming old staff and the perfect old world flavors, cooking. In Sarasota where we just lived the last 5 years, a new deli closed after just 2 years, and there is nothing left. We've been visiting family in Sarasota every year for 40 years. Gone too in the Twin Ciries is the ownership by brothers Scot and Stu of Hopkin's beloved Crossroads Deli just last year. The new owners, a corporation owning 6-8 other restaurants have CHANGED almost all the recipes for breads, cakes , wonderous cookies and 80 % of all pastries! No more butter, no more fine ingredients and no more of their once " Grossinger's taste/quality" STELLAR seeded rye bread! They even eliminated the lemon flavoring. In their incomparable lemon coconut cake! Their stuffed cabbage is one of their only true deli dishes left. Sandwiches are half their original size...... heart breaking after going there 3-4 times a week for 25 years........ Cecil's of course had to cut back on the $$ use of butter in their pastries. But they have WORKED VERY HARD to still retain their wonderous long long ago heart warming flavors. ALL their sandwiches are AUTHENTIC. Old world New York City flavors! Made with care and love. My husband loves their beautiful generous Nova salmon platte. Noshing away happily! I love their pastrami Rachel's with plentiful half sour pickles lots of Russian dressing and creamy Cole slaw. Mmmmmm. I hope and pray Cecil's owner refrains for a long long time from selling his rare business. We must support Cecil's too.... Or lose it with all the others, and lose part of our joy and heart.
