Now just "Irregardless" - Once a haven for vegetarians seeking the thrill of expertly disguised faux chicken, beef, and even the occasional suspiciously convincing "rib," this restaurant has taken a sad slide into mediocrity. The menu that once boasted bold, bragging fake-meat masterpieces now reads like a produce aisle roll call. Gone are the days when seitan strutted and tofu transformed; in their place are... carrots. So many carrots. With their star performers washed-up and uncooperative, the restaurant has retreated to mainly just vegetables--unmasked, unembellished, and unmistakably... vegetables. Carrots that crunch without charisma and Eggplants that show up fried and now Morgan Street Chicken? The restaurant hasn't just changed direction; it's lost its spark. The excitement, the creativity, the playful deception of fake meat alchemy--all replaced by piles of straightforward, undeniably earnest vegetables and seafood. It's still vegetarian, I guess. Just not... excitingly so anymore. Cheers!

The food selection was fantastic! Some items were a bit pricey. Presentation was good. I liked our server a lot, she was very friendly. Ambiance was fine, atmosphere wasn't too loud and the perfect temperature. I love their hummus. The focaccia was okay, the oyster mushrooms a tad salty, and the pasta was good.

We are in Raleigh visiting to work the tattoo convention this weekend. We arrived yesterday and of course the first thing we do is search for food options. We came across Irregardless. And omg! I'm so glad we did. They have been around since the 70s, and was the only vegan restaurant in Raleigh, at the time. Today they serve non vegan food as well. When we walked in, a guy was playing a string instrument of some sort. The place was dimly lit but very casual. Our waitre was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Ended up finding out he grew up in Charleston, SC. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the "Not Chos" which is nachos with cashew cheese and chorizo topped with picked Jalapeño, onions, and pico degallo. I didn't get a picture of it because I was so excited to eat them since they had vegan cheese. As my entrée I had their Curry. It was fantastic. Jasmine rice topped with chicken, carrots, and eggplant. Gluten and dairy free for the win!! Corey had one of their burgers. Not only was it massive, it was very tasteful. And to top everything off, I got to have ice cream for dessert. It was made with lentil cream. It was the creamest "ice cream" I've had. If you ever find yourself in Raleigh, definitely don't sleep on Irregardless!!

A good spot for an easy upscale ish dinner! I didn't feel rushed or anything, the staff was amazing! The cute artwork and the live music were completely well blended! The salmon was so good and the social butterfly drink was better!

From start to finish, irregardless was perfect! The restaurant was cozy and festive for the holidays, and they have booths, which is always a plus. We got a mimosa and the Queen Bee cider - both were very good. For our meals, we got the the bowl and Crunchwrap - both were tasty, filling, and presented nicely. Service is where they really shine. A very enjoyable experience all around!

Holy smokes, Batman! As someone who often struggles to find great food options as a celiac (gluten-free), Irregardless blew me away. Our waitress--whose name I regretfully forgot, and it's not on my receipt--was phenomenal. I told her I was torn between a few choices, and she confidently recommended the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich (GF). Honestly? One of the best sandwiches I've had in over 12 years. Crispy, flavorful, and totally worth the hype. They accommodate a ton of dietary restrictions. Portion sizes? Generous. Food? Incredibly fresh and delicious. Location? Adorable. Parking? A bit tricky, but it's the only "meh" part. Inside? Cozy, charming, and quiet enough to actually enjoy a conversation. If you're in Raleigh and want something amazing, run--don't walk--to Irregardless.

Dropped in for brunch to catch up with some friends and was surprised to see how popular this spot is! We had made reservations so after letting the staff know we were here they quickly seated us. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time- even though the spot is fairly large and had a decent amount of large tables, this place looks to be very popular! I ordered a classic crab cake Benedict, my husband got the tofu scramble and both dishes were excellent. Unfortunately the beignets fell a little flat for me- they were coated in sugar rather than powdered sugar which ended up making them overly sweet. I'd like to try to come back here for dinner! The menu is very vegetarian friendly!

I have wanted to go to this restaurant for years. I finally had the opportunity this past Sunday. We were welcomed to the restaurant ith warmth and smiles which was awesome. It is a very cozy and quaint restaurant which also offers lives music. Music was very good. I am pescatarian, and joining me for dinner was someone allergic specifically to cheese (so not dairy in general) and a vegetarian. We order the Spanakopita, Foccacia and Brussel sprouts as appetizer. All amazingly good. two of us shared the Fall salad which was also good but I forgot the picture. The vegetarian ordered the Eggplant Parmesan he said it was just okay and he was disappointed that it was not served with pasta, nor was that an option you could add. The no cheese guy order the burger with no cheese and said similiarly it was okay. I order the Fried Oyster Mushroom entree and it was SO AWFUL, I could not eat it. Oyster Mushrooms can absorb flavor if marinated properly and can easily mimic chicken among other things. I cook it often. First of all it was TOUGH and I needed a steak knife because I was sawing into this thing with my butter knife. secondly it was no flavor FULL STOP. I cook this at home and so if you marinate it AND THEN you fry it, it is tender and rivals fried chicken in taste and texture. This was not only missing on seasoning it didn't even have salt. Like eating tough fried cardboard. Later we all tasted it and wondered if it was some sort of mistake. Because it would be hard to believe that a skilled chef would serve this in a well known partially plant based restaurant. The risotto that the mushroom was sitting on was amazing. Knock it out the park on flavor and perfectly cooked which is why we couldn't understand how the mushroom was so bad. I did not send it back, but I did tell my server I didn't like it and why. When I told him, I had not taken but a bite or two. He did NOT offer me a refund so I just ordered the Salmon. The salmon was amazing. Super tender and the flavor was profile on point. I loved that it had the skin on it, which was crisped up just right and also seasoned. The Bok Choy cabbage tender. I loved it!!!!! We ordered the Beignets which were amazing and bourbon pecan pie. The pecan pie was not good. It had a weird taste to it, it was salty and I could not find the bourbon but maybe it was there ..somewhere. So the food was okay, and something items were really good, BUT I would never go back. It was not memorable or even tasty enough to warrant a second try. While my server was nice, he kept forgetting things. Forgot to put the salad order in, and then forgot the to go containers "three times" so we had to flag down another server to help us. I am glad to check the box on this one. Really wish the Triangle would offer more plant based restaurants or expanded menus with plant based options. Not just impossible burgers and not something just thrown together without any care for making the dish tender and have it taste really good. I mean anyone can take a piece of cardboard and sit on some pretty risotto.

Came for brunch on my way out on NC. Got seated pretty quickly because we have reservations. Serve was nice. Ambience was noisy but still talkable volume. The food was okay for me I was at blown away but my friends who are vegan loves their food. I had the avocado toast grits and chicken sausages. Grits were a bit different for me didn't love but may be a local style.

Sunday Morning is BUSY, so make sure you got reservations otherwise you'll wait a typical brunch 30-45 mins for a table! THE WAIT IS WORTH IT live music by the front door+friendly staff= perfection Come hungry to try everything and be patient for the food to come with a drink or app. you have to get the Chicken and Waffles for the full southern experience and make sure you try the pour/mix the sauces on a waffle and chicken bite because it will change your life... Gluten Free family members were beyond happy with this location! The shrimp and grits were another explosion of flavor that I recommend!!

My dad and I came for dinner after having run a long distance that morning. We were starving and ready for a substantial meal, and the dishes we got hit the spot! I got the Morgan Street Chicken. The first time it came out, it was way too salty (which says a lot because I was low on salt from sweating so much that morning). The GM and our server, Thomas, were so gracious and got me a new plate quickly. It was perfectly salted the second time around and was just the balanced meal I needed. My dad really liked his bucattini, but felt like the sauce could've had a bit more acidity to it. The sauce is more butter and just a hint of white wine flavor. Overall, we would come back to try other items on the menu.

12/10 experience every time! Irregardless Café never disappoints. We walked in without a reservation and snagged two seats at the bar. Such a great atmosphere with live music and the friendliest staff. Our waitress was super accommodating with my tree nut allergy, which I really appreciated. We ordered the chicken & waffles and the classic breakfast plate, both were amazing (and yes, we cleaned our plates!). The food, the energy, the kindness... everything here just feels good. Can't wait to come back!

Do they accept walk-ins? my friends and I would like to dine outside but I can't tell if it's by reservation only or if walk-ins are accepted. Thank you!

They do take walk-ins as long as seating is available. They remain socially distant with table arrangements so it helps to make reservations.

Is the music loud? I see people saying it's good for groups, but is conversation in a larger group possible with the volume of the music?

No it's not too loud, usually just one musician.

Does this place offer gluten free options?

Yes! Very "crunchy " menu with vegetarian and vegan too

Do you have Wifi ? Thanks !

    Yes, they do!

"Delightful vegan restaurant on Crabtree Blvd in Raleigh"…read more I'd heard of this for years and was happy to finally give it a try on a Saturday for lunch ~1:30pm. The restaurant is a bit set off from a strip mall, and has a small outdoor seating area. The inside has high ceilings and is airy, and is nicely decorated (I also enjoyed the "sci-fi themed" wallpaper in one restroom stall). We were greeted quickly and given a table right away. The specials on the wall sounded amazing-- it was hard to believe they were all vegan with burgers, bbq, "chicken", and more on there. We opted for simple-- the special cantaloupe soup for an appetizer and burgers (impossible) for lunch. Mine came with chips, and my girlfriend's came with mac and cheese. Food came out in maybe 15 minutes. The cantaloupe soup was AMAZING... perfect for a summer day... super refreshing and tasty. The cheeseburgers were good too-- well dressed with an aioli, if I remember right, as well as fresh lettuce, tomatoes, etc. I appreciated that I didn't have to pop a lactase, too, since all vegan! The chips I think were store-made and were absolutely tasty-- we got a lot too and snacked off them for the next few days. And my girlfriend liked the mac and cheese. Service was friendly throughout, and cups were refilled. And I felt the prices were reasonable for what we got. Overall, I'd DEFINITELY come back and am eager to try some of their fake meat dishes like the BBQ.

Their new location is very nice and spacious and there's plenty of parking too! We got the Cast Iron Skillet Cornbread, Grilled Romaine, Hearts of Palm & Lion's Mane "Crabcakes", and Southern Style Plate with BBQ "pork". The cornbread was so moist and the crabcakes were flavorful. The grilled romaine was a revelation - I loved whatever creamy sauce it came with, the candied nuts, and the smokiness of the romaine. The BBQ "pork" was probably my least favorite thing, but don't get me wrong, it was still tasty. We asked for a little more BBQ sauce to go with it and our waitress got it for us right away. The drinks were also fantastic! I got the Autumn Flare which was coconut water, housemade falernum syrup, pineapple juice, and lemon. So refreshing and yummy!

The atmosphere immediately stood out with colorful artwork throughout the restaurant that felt like a gallery showcasing local artists. It had the energy of a modern, upbeat vegan gastropub while still feeling comfortable enough to settle in and enjoy your meal. As someone who enjoys finding restaurants with great vegetarian options, this place was a fantastic surprise. The menu offers a wide variety of plant-based dishes without making them feel like an afterthought. Instead, they take center stage, and that alone has me looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. I ordered the Knob Creek Old Fashioned along with the Philly Cheesesteak and an order of the malt vinegar fries. The Old Fashioned was well-balanced and exactly what I was hoping for. The cheesesteak was packed with flavor, and the malt vinegar fries were the perfect pairing. One thing worth noting is that most entrées don't come with a side, so be sure to order one separately. The menu does mention it, but it's easy to overlook if you're skimming. The service was outstanding. My server was cheerful, attentive, and took the time to explain different menu options without making me feel rushed. That level of hospitality made an already enjoyable meal even better. Pricing falls comfortably in the low-to-mid range, but the quality easily punches above its weight. To borrow a phrase from my recent Game of Thrones binge, this meal was worth far more than its weight in coin. I'll absolutely be back. In fact, I could easily see this becoming a regular stop whenever I'm in Raleigh for work--or even when I'm in town for personal trips. Restaurants that combine great food, welcoming service, and a memorable atmosphere are hard to come by, and Element Gastropub checks every box. Final Verdict: Good food brings you in. Great atmosphere brings you back.

"Vegan faux meat dishes near the Raleigh Convention Center"…read more Stopped here on the Saturday of GalaxyCon in July at 5pm. There are a lot of outdoor tables with umbrellas, but we opted for the interior. The interior was a bit dark but still comfortable, especially near the windows. We got to pick our table and were given menus promptly. I went for the faux Philly cheesesteak and a side salad with Bleu cheese. My girlfriend got the western nodeo burger and a side salad with ranch. Service was good- there was a little confusion about our order and what table we were at, but they were apologetic about it. And we still got our food within 20 minutes and regularly were offered drink refills. My food was fine. The vegan Bleu cheese dressing was quite runny and tasted ok but not nearly as good as the real thing. Honestly, I felt the same about the cheesesteak. The faux meat was oddly rubbery, and the cheese was just ok. It also wasn't very large. In contrast, my girlfriend's dishes were excellent- the ranch dressing was epic and the burger was super tasty. Warning- it was hot, especially the jalapeños. But delicious. If I went back, I'd get her order for sure. Price was pretty good especially for the burger- most entrees were in the $15-20 range, but did not come with sides. Overall, a good vegan option near the convention center and Marriott hotel.

The Fido's Fries were beer battered fries, topped with cheese, bacon (we got the pork option but they have soy), scallions, & sour cream (on the side). The fries were absolutely delicious! I loved my chili cheese dogs as well. It was a very generous portion because it was two dogs and a ton of frickles. As a dog lover, I adored all of the dog art & statues around the place. Schwarzbier, German beer tastes like coffee but it was kind of good. The bar staff were great this day greeted us as we sat down and even changed the channels for us right away. It wasn't crowded as we went at the start of Happy hour but got busier by the time we left. The vibes are always good at Yard house.

I ordered the crispy cauliflower app which was delish! Don't let the raisins sway your decision - it's suttle but just right with the cauli. They add a romesco sauce that's flavorful add capers to add the salty goodness. Loved this! I also ordered the meatball app which was plenty. They were perfect size and more than enough for two. The sauce was rich and bold with flavor and a sprinkle of goat cheese was just right. I will return and try a few more apps next time.

The food was pretty good. I started with the tortellini soup and had the French toast from the Brunch menu. For drinks, I tried the pineapple mimosa, but it was warm, which really affected the flavor. I also ordered an espresso martini, and unfortunately it had an artificial taste that I would not recommend, especially for the price. One issue we ran into was the number of flies around our table. Even though we were seated inside, there were several constantly circling, and one ended up landing in my water. Our waitress tried to help, but the problem continued. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the service, but I would come back for the food only and not for the drinks.
