It has the usual High Street names, ie Dorothy Perkins, River Island, Burtons, Claires Accessories, Thorntons etc. they also ocaasionally have small stalls set out in the middle selling gifty type items. They do special events in the school holidays and to promote other keys times, ie Halloween or Christmas. It has an undercover carpark attached, which is not too expensive and is good for when it is raining. There are two coffeee shops in the middle, my favourite is Esquires. All in all, this is a good place to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon, for some retail therapy.

Always clean and always busy but plenty of staff so no long wait at the check-out. Interesting architecture, a previous review suggested that it used to be a railway station - Nope! It was the Kayser Bondor until the 1980's when it was bought by Tesco. Kayser Bondor made ladies stockings - but switched to making parachutes during World War II. Wish that we had selection like this in the USA!!!!

As it is an Extra, it stocks everything from TV's to toothpaste, so everything you need is under one roof. The car park is large (and needs to be as it does get busy), and the store also contains a petrol garage.

You can even sell your own items to them - though check the website for further details. Everything is set out according to colour so it is easy to find the shade of your choice. There is a changing room upstairs and this store also does make-up tutorials and colour analysis. They sell shoes, bags and hats (They are also a millinery) too so you can buy an entire outfit here. Prices are pretty good, much better than the only other clothing store for dresses.

Oh God, what have they done!…read more Jackson's square, named after Sir George Jackson, who was one of the founders of the Stort Navigation, was originally built in the 60s, and as such, had the heavy concrete look of the era. In the late 80s a big refit and revamp was performed, adding a glass roof to the centre, and attempting to make more of a classic piazza feel. Then there is the recent development. Before my rant, I'll tell you the good stuff. Jackson's Square is pretty central to the town, holds big name chains such as Sainsbury's, Next, New Look, Superdrug, Starbucks, Peacocks, etc, and a few independent clothes shops as well. The smoking ban has helped to lift the lingering pong of fags that used to cling to the clothes in Peacocks, and there is no longer a gauntlet of smoking school kids to get past. The bad news. The new development is hideous, huge, awkward to get to, awkward to park near, looks about as new and glam as the original 60s building did, and generally towers over the rest of the town leaving it in dark shade most day. Poor old Sir George must be rolling in his grave.

Maybe they don't always have these items but I have had t shirts at £2 and £3 from here before and they are great. Also have a great range of veggie and free from goods. Often things that are hard to get elsewhere and a range of budget stuff which is finelike tomato paste 25p and veg stock cubes 18p. Have always felt the food in Sainsbury was fresher and a better selection than many other stores. Great discounts in the evening when stuff can be marked down to 10p like pizza and breadgood for the munchies :0) Staff are courteous and friendly. Large car park.

They also sell beautiful candle holders and votives, plus the candles to go with them - scented and unscented. The soft toy selection has something for both young and old alike, from beanie babies to soft toy door stops. In the glass cases are some more expensive items such as watches, pens, lighters. All are well made and would make excellent gifts.
