I foolishly left without going inside to get a receipt printed. I'm left to assume this is a pre-authorization charge, but that was not made clear. I've never had this happen at any other gas station. I would go to any of the other gas stations in Grand Marais before buying more fuel at Bucks. UPDATE: Called my bank, when I could not get through to Bucks by phone. The bank tells me the $175 is not a pre-authorization, but an actual charge to my card.

I didn't like the selection, and decided to try Julie's. I had also visited Zup's Dollars for stationery and a pen, but the selection was poor. Julie's True Value met both my needs. The mouse trap selection was diverse. As for the pens, I was overwhelmed by the options. If that wasn't enough, they have yarn, and embroidery floss. I could tell from a glance that they had the normal hardware stuff, but it is also a craft shop. I was impressed. I know where to go for such materials the next time I'm in the area!

I finally decided to take it to someone else but when I go back......it's not there. The manager then tells me I never dropped it off - even though I was the one who pushed it into their workshop area. Basically.....it's MY fault and they never took it in. Oh - and then tells me it was really old and rusty anyway (which it wasn't!)....all it needed was a tune up. My fault for not getting a receipt saying I dropped it off, but someone stole it and I will NEVER use their store unless it's an emergency....but I'd rather drive to Two Harbors or Lutsen and give them my business.

It was a shopping experience that took me back to the old fashioned Ben Franklin I grew up with a mix of modern day boutique. I don't think there are many stores where you can buy craft supplies, children's unique toys, running shoes, maple syrup and Pendleton sweaters and blankets. I will agree with some of the other reviewers and say that the prices are on the high side. Being from the Mid-West I thought all prices in Minnesota were higher. However, I understand much of the areas I was visiting were tourist towns, or remote areas and that alone explains the price increases. Being a small town and a tourist town, the staff was attentive and friendly. They made shopping a fun and pleasant experience. If you're in Grand Marais, you've got to at least walk through this store and be amazed with the variety of merchandise.
