I needed my barnett sorting in preparation for a party and thought I'd try somewhere new; I went along to Retro, having booked an appointment earlier that day, and as I sat waiting for my stylist I began to worry that the outcome would be disastrous and my terrible new do would ruin the photographs of the evening's celebrations. However the professional manner of my hairdresser, Rebbecca, as she discussed my desired style and how she would create it, settled my nerves a little. In under an hour I had had a consultation, had my hair washed, (with the most divine products; the shampoo smells gorgeous0 layered and styled with a new full fringe, and blow dried beautifully with big bouncy curls. My hair is very long and thick and in my experience, hairdressers tire or simply bore when styling it, but Rebbecca was patient and did a great job; I was thrilled with the final result. The services are very reasonably priced as well; £22.50 for mine. My only complaint is the somewhat hazardous salon chairs! The protruding foot rests caused a couple of trips and a near concussion as another client took a tumble into the metal stair rail!

This may suggest its an old lady salon catering for perms and sets, but this is far from the truth. Its a bright, modern salon, with young stylists, but friendly and welcoming nontheless, you wont feel initimidated or out of date. Ive used a couple of stylists here and they have all been good - my favourite is Annmarie, who is a great colourist, and takes her time to make sure you are happy with her suggestions before she starts. I just wish she worked Saturdays! Expect to pay about £30 for a cut and blow, and approx £50 for half head foils and cut.

SInce then I have returned on numerous occassions, for cuts, up-dos, and re-dyes, all of which have been equally professional and more than adequate. The stylists are extremely good although occassionally a little.. haughty. I have tried other salons over the past five years and few have exceeded the standard of Smithies. Prices are about average and they are, I believe, the only local hairdressers open on Sundays which is, for some reason, always the day I want my hair done. As well as hairdressing the salon offers a range of beauty treatments such as manicures, pedicures and tanning.

Imagine my delight to find Will... The owner of a new salon opening in Chorley! Woo-hoo! I booked in with him at his new posh place. Very nice decor and lovely staff. Drinks and mags on tap :) After my first visit around three years ago, I've never been anywhere else and never will as long as this company is going. I'm back to getting comments of friends and collegues again on how good my hair looks. Very very happy with the service from all staff and the friendly atmosphere at both chorley and leyland salons. Thankfully…read moreI came across this place after another review on the internet, my hair colour and amazing extensions are perfect from Sammy she blended 2 colours and cut them in perfectly so now they don't look like extensions thankfully!!! the staff are so nice and welcoming and not pretentious like many salons the place was very busy and had a nice buzz about the salon. If you decide to have your hair styled by Dickens then please remember to book early, especially at Christmas because they do get booked up very quickly and you could have a few weeks wait for an appointment. The shop itself is very bright and pleasant with large window frontage and they have an excellent range of hair products on display to purchase.
