My wife and I went for a special "Cowboy Dinner" that they held. It was $125 per person, then they added 20% gratuity so $300 for both and it was prepaid. The event was sponsored by Garrison Brothers which we love. When we got there they gave us a glass of wine, which was nice. There was no assigned tables so many people had to stand, the food was good but you had to stand in line to get it, also they had little tasting of Garrison Brothers but other than that no drinks were included. The staff was nice but $50 bucks gratuity was ridiculous. We have not eaten at Isidore before so I don't know what it's like on a normal night but this was a ripoff. read more

This was truly a great culinary experience. Let talk about the esthetics ... think mid century modern meets old San Antonio industrial. It's a unique vibe and the open kitchen is an awesome component to the scenery. Now the best part... the food was ultra creative and full of new flavors. We had the shrimp toast, the crudo, the pork chop, and the beef tartar. Cocktails ...the bread and butter old fashioned and the margarita... EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD! Pretty disappointed in this restaurant. The food was not up to par with the pricing and hype. They charge $24 for 6 gulf oysters... if I wanted gulf oysters I would go to Willie's, not a "high end" restaurant at the Pearl. When the server asked how we liked them we said we were not fans but did not push for her take it away or take it off of our bill; we were just being honest and answering her question. She got extremely offended and was snappy and short with us the rest of the meal. We actually didn't even see her but once after that. Someone else even brought us our bill and then a different person checked us out. Our grouper came out cold, the cauliflower flavor was lack luster, and the cheese croquettes were glorified bar food with, again, a lack of real flavor. Even our "dirty martinis" were basically clear in color and had no olive brine flavor; we had to ask for more olive juice. Overall the experience was not worth the money. Two items that were good: the complimentary bread and butter and the crudo. Seems to be just another trendy, instagram only worthy spot. read more

Enjoy the ambiance while sipping a margarita or beer Then, turn around and head for Isidore. We sat at the bar, as usual and was greeted by the most amazing and attentive staff. The service was impeccable. We were blown away by the handcrafted cocktails. Including the Sourdough and butter drink that was a masterpiece! We dined lightly. We were headed to Jazz TX We did have the fish dip with homemade chips which was outstanding. The mushroom wrap appetizer with beans was a must try along with the bread. Great dining experience last night at the newest fine dining spot at the Pearl. Isidore, the final full-service upscale restaurant from the Pullman Market. The restaurant was beautiful with the open concept kitchen, modern decor throughout. The staff was very attentive and the service was exceptional, something that always stands out to me about these places. All of the foods/drinks were brought out and explained in detail by our waiter DJ whom was very nice and very knowledgeable. The food and drinks were all delicious, unique, and packed with interesting flavors. Definitely will be back here. Make reservations as they do get pretty busy. read more

We took a client here last month. The ambience was actually very nice - it is dark and has an upscale feel. The food, however was just not very good. Look - if you are going to offer a Wagyu Ribeye on the menu, it better be perfect. The ribeyes we got were tough & had barely any marbling. Our clients even asked if we thought it was really Wagyu because how bad the steaks were. Literally all of the meat was tough. They absolutely have to fix this when you are paying $96 a steak. read more

Met a couple of girlfriends for dinner last night. This was our first time here. Loved the aesthetic of the restaurant. I loved the bar area and we sat in front of the kitchen and that was great to see all the kitchen working in harmony. The staff seemed a bit pretentious but the service was really good. Food- very strange menu. In my opinion it's not cohesive. Our waitress was great. She knew the menu and we followed her recommendations. We started with the smoked fish dip. I am more of a pescatarian so this was a great choice for me. All 3 of us thought the fish was so fishy it was not appetizing. It didn't taste rotten but it didn't taste good to any of us. The lady walking by noticed we weren't eating it and asked what was wrong, she politely picked it up and took it off the bill. Extremely nice. The next thing that came were the beets. They had been cooked over an open flame but they had no flavor. They gave you a palette cleanser of vinegar and beet juice and that was great. Way better than the beets. Next came the pickled okra and shrimp. The okra was fantastic I believe it was done 3 ways. The shrimp looked like they had been pounded out into disks but again sadly no flavor. We all agreed on this dish too. The lions mane mushrooms were the best thing we got. They were delicious and everything made sense. The cheese froth ravioli ( I had something similar in Mexico City but this fell short) this was oily. We used the bread they brought us to soak up some of the foam but it was strange. The bread was good but here was an interesting fact. Our waitress said they would be coming by with bread service for the table. They make the 3 butters in house so we were fine with that. We ordered a delicious bottle of wine. Our waitress was trying to convince us to order a couple of main meals. The dry aged wagyu was just too big and it's just meat.. it seems like the whole menu is a bunch of ideas a chef who's learned some cool techniques decided to make a menu out of. When the bill came the bread was 16$. When I'm spending this kind of money for snacks and wine I don't mind but bread service sounds complementary. Maybe next time inform guest there is a charge. Isidore, is absolutely amazing. The restaurant is breathtaking and all aspects. The food was spectacular. Just wonderful in every which way I felt like I was eating at a Michelin star restaurant and if they're not one, they definitely need to be one I would not only just highly recommend this place I will be returning myself. The food was on point probably some of the best food I've had in San Antonio in a long time their customer service was better than I could've ever asked for it was top-notch and beyond any expectation. They definitely exceeded it with flying colors. If you've never heard of this restaurant look into it went to a long time ago. Come back check it out. I had wanted to visit this place after tasting Nicosi. The ambience is very romantic and moody. The food is very fresh, all farm to market. We had the yuba and cream, squash, herb roasted chicken, chocolate sorbet and avocado cream dessert. Great cocktails. All well-flavored. First let me start by saying that the service is amazing, the staff is friendly and very attentive and knowledgeable. Having said that, if you're the kind of person that loves to take pictures of your food regardless of the taste, this is the place for you, if you like me are more interested in the flavor this is not the place for you. A lot of people had recommend this place to my husband so we were excited to try it out. They had a four course menu for "restaurant week" and we decided to go with this, you could accompany this with a wine pairing which I do recommend. The first thing we got was a sampler that included 2 grilled oysters, cheese curl (basically 2 dried cayenne peppers with barely to no filling) and 2 fried chicken pieces. Flavor 4/10, the best was the fried chicken. After this we had some bread and butter which was ok. I mean is bread and butter. Next up, we had some "Embered beets" with pecan butter. This had no flavor at all, the pecan butter did make it a little bit better, but it felt like I was eating raw beets, presentation wasn't even good 0/10. Finally we had a 6oz Wagyu Striploin which we were excited to try but our excitement died as soon as we got the first bite, the meat was ok but it didn't taste like anything, is as if they were afraid of adding flavor. The meat was accompanied by a sauce which we had to dip the meat in to add flavor to it and also had a side salad which was ok, overall I gave this dish 2/10. Honestly, I am always up for the experience of food and trying new things, but this was one of the most disappointing experiences in San Antonio. My sister flew in from Tampa and we went to Isidore lastnight for both of our birthdays after we saw it received a Michelin Star. Every single staff member that we came across greeted us and they were very attentive throughout the experience. It was great to see the cooks on the line doing call backs and working in the line. Awesome ambiance. Unfortunately the food was terribly underwhelming, big time. The popcorn chicken and ribeye were both good but nothing to die for. We are both crudo fans but the red snapper crudo we had last night just tasted like raw fish; no citrus, no sweet, no salty, no depth of flavor or texture. In addition, the wagyu beef tartare that was a play on onion soup tasted solely of caramalized onions. Very one-note. Not good at all. After our experience, with the exception of the staff, I'm truly wondering how they received a Michelin star. I wish we got to taste that level of food that we were hoping for and expecting. read more

Well I went there because of a meet up group I am trying and this was the restaurant chosen for us. There are supposed to be 4 other diners who join you and you have a meal together. That did not go well but the restaurant also has a part to play with the company that sent us there. For the most part low lighting and an open kitchen concept. Low lighting but loud as far as voices and music goes. Not conducive for conversation. Their menu was diverse and sparse at the same time. If you like steak, they have a lot of options. My dining partner agreed with me on price point. You are paying a lot for what you are getting. Please know that the menu on line was not the same as what they had in the restaurant. So don't preselect anything till you see the menu when dining. I did tell them they needed to update it. One take away was, we really liked the two bartenders that served us at the bar. Can't say enough good things about this place. The food was outstandingly great. The service made us feel like VIPs. The atmosphere was awesome. Can hardly wait to go back for more popcorn chicken, which was moist and delicious, more Wagyu ribeye - flavor so great you didn't even need the dipping sauce it came with, more of that unique cheesecake dessert. Wow! Plenty of things on the menu we wanted to try and did not have room for. We had a table with a great view of the open kitchen which we really enjoyed because it allowed us to see all the dishes being prepared. It begins with a warm steam towel scented with green vetiver to clean and restore your filthy hands while the smell of wood smoke lingers over the sounds of sophistipop dance music. The beginning is almost sanctimonious and is very telling of the conceptual thoughts of purity and the general cerebrally that follows. Now that I am clean I am ready. If this sounds like a lot it is, it's a lot of theater and coming from a gay man like me that's saying a lot hunny. The courses are all perfectly executed and driven by concept, are so balanced that it's hard to criticize, but let's try. At best Isidore celebrates the perfection that exists in the food itself, good food prepared well doesn't need much. At worst Isidore overthinks and over dramatizes, tries too hard. A perfect example is the incredible bread and butter. The bread is maybe the best I've ever had, but comes with three butters that all range from a crowd pleasing honey butter to a chef pleasing beef tallow with cayenne. The kitchen is clearly a bunch of nerds who dream about this REDACTED all day long, and they need to push further. They're too balanced, too safe and too crowd pleasing to say anything. Isidore is perfect, but sometimes perfection is just sorta nice. Our server was amazing, as well as almost everyone we met which was surprising except for the Somm, they came over to talk wine, uh we didn't ask for you, and when we said we wanted glasses they walked off and didn't even tell our server what we asked for. Really nice place! Music and ambience is great. We got here early for our reservation, ended up waiting 35 minutes for our table. Seemed like it was either over booked or the kitchen was just overwhelmed. Or both. We got the multiple course option. It was pretty good, nice flavors, fresh ingredients, but some of it just didn't hit the mark. For the price, I was expecting a little bit more. Not to mention, it was about a 20 minute wait in between each course... our stay ended up being over 3 hours.. if there was more time being spent eating/drinking rather than waiting, it would've been a much better experience. read more

Ambiance was outstanding - tables faced the chef's working area surrounded by red brick was facades. Food was mixed- the squash was delicious: perfectly cooked and svaory flavored and balanced but the nabe was a mess- the rice was overcooked and white turnips? inside were hard and lacked flavor and the mushrooms smelled sour. Our server seemed distracted and tardy. Overall, a disappointment but still has lots of potential. we will likely try again but not right away. read more
