They do a good job of bussing people from satellite parking locations. The temple is well managed and clean and offers a peaceful environment for prayers and meditation. The external structure looks more like a ranch house rather than a temple and may be hard to locate if it's your first time here. They do organize the BEST event of colors during Holi festival!

Great Hindu temple with South Indian deities and delicious dosa!…read more In the center, there's a large statue of Sri Venkateswara or Tirupati Balaji, which is another form of Lord Vishnu worshipped in the South. There are a handful of deities that are more prevalent in the North like Ganesha, Hanuman, Durga, etc. Even though I'm North Indian, I enjoy coming to the temple and worshipping all the deities. There's a wonderful cafeteria downstairs with scrumptious masala dosas, warm tea, and some other apps. There's a great Deepavali annual celebration with fireworks and puja for a few days along with a special Thali and other types of food offered during the festivities. There are events at the temple which you can easily find online. The Thali is a bit different than a traditional Thali with a ginormous Puri, which is more like a Batura, the dhal/kitcheri was quite tasty. The channa chick peas were a bit undercooked and the rice had a spicy kick! While the Thali was fun to try, I'd stick to the Masala Dosas. The heated tile floor downstairs will keep your feet nice and warm. Don't forgot to bring socks for sanitation/hygiene in the bathrooms. My favorite local Hindu temple and always look forward to returning for some worship and dosa!

Once inside the temple you are blown away by the marbel floor only to pass out from the totally awesome painting on the ceiling. They even have a shop right there in the temple and the people there were eager to assist us. They were professional, informative and extremly helpful. It made me remember another temple where the staff thought that they were kings and how dare you interrupt their day. Moving on when you enter the prayer room it was a sight to behold. I would definately recommend this place to visitors.

But I am sad to see that not all priests take their job seriously. I came for Tarpan in piturpaksha this time. ( I have done this here for a couple of years now). The priest I got literally sat less than 2 minutes and tarpan was done!! Other priests take longer time doing the job with more sincerity. I was amazed at blatent disregard for a somber ceremony and also very sad to see erosion of true religiosity and spiritualness. BTW, Mandir charges $51 dollars for tarpan, which I am happy to pay if the ritual is done properly. Mandir should maintain quality control on priests, otherwise the reputation of the temple will fall.

Externally there is plenty of parking available, have outdoor mandirs for gods that are not inside. Everything is very clean and taken care of. The only thing I will say is that for the Outside mandir one of them is locked and you need to ask the priest to open it the other is available but everything needs to be kept in the packaging. Inside is a work in progress as they are remodeling a bit so you can see loose wires and etc but the main mandir is peaceful and i really enjoy sitting there for a few minutes and just taking it all in. The gods that they have on display are done very well and a lot of time is put in to ensure they are treated with the utmost respect. Finally, all the priests are very friendly and easy to talk to. Not all of them speak English very well but the front desk has someone who can translate if needed. It is a 30 min drive for me but I will continue to go here because this place is great and feels almost like a second home:)!

It's been two years since I started my journey to Islam, and McLean Islamic Center truly feels like home to my heart. The community is sincere and kind, and every person I've met here is a beautiful example of what it means to be a good Muslim. The imams also have the most beautiful recitation, clear, moving, and so easy to connect with even when I was still learning.
