Island Cigar factory is a great place to enjoy a smoke and people watch as people transit Duval St. I wasn't terribly impressed with their cigar choices but I ended up choosing a key lime flavor as I like sweeter tasting cigars. The cigar did not taste like key lime at all but I still enjoyed some conversation with other travelers who were visiting. The bar inside offers a lot of local draft options and liquor, the outside seating area is where I found most of this lounge's appeal. Stopped in on a hot Summer day to grab a smoke, a cold beer, and chill off. I'm not a cigar aficionado so take my review with a grain of salt. Drinks: Inside of their sliding door cooler they have all of your gas station beer regulars as well as soft drinks. Their canned Miller-Lite tasted as good as any other. Cigars: They had quite a selection of house-made and imported cigars to choose from. Prices were higher than what I'm used to but its Key West. I choose a house "Al Capone" style cigar that tasted fine but could have pulled a little smoother. Location: This is a casual cigar bar, flip flops fit right in. Past the storefront there is an open patio with lifesaving fans and chairs if you want to relax while you smoke. There was a DJ both back there as well so I guess they have music in the evenings. Don't spend premium prices on these knock offs just because your at the keys On vacation know what you're getting and know what you're buying. Doors wide open, no humidor, very hot and no signs of trying to maintain the conditions of the cigars. I assumed some would be dry and gave it a try because I wanted a "real" Cuban as I was told. I purchased a short cigar and it was very dry. The person working the counter was semi dry too. She answered the one question I asked but was not friendly or inviting. I did not feel welcomed but gave the benefit of the doubt being a tourist area because I saw plenty of drunken tourist on Duval getting a little loud. But after a few minutes in the store - it was her. Bad service, dry cigars, inflated prices and a very small area to sit if you wanted to smoke. I would not recommend this establishment. read more

This place is a joke. Do not go there. We went there today and I went to grab a box of cigars and there was a wooden display box that was on a top shelf that fell over because they put them on the tip of the shelf. It fell and I was forced to buy it by the manager. I was there for the day for vacation and didn't want issues so I paid for it and left. It is great to have a place like Island Cigar Factory's -The Robusto Bar in Key West. We met there nightly with our friends and celebrated our anniversary, Some nights we sat outdoor/ patio seating and consumed some top shelf drinks. Me and my boyfriend stopped here last Friday to buy some Cohiba cigars and as soon as we walked in the lady behind the register gave us so much attitude it was crazy. She was extremely rude! She barely answered any of our questions and tried to rush us out of her store. She made me feel so uncomfortable that I decided to wait for my boyfriend outside in the steaming hot sun. I am not a cigar person, per we, but I went in with someone else who is. The shop is small, but had a good assortment of cigars, pipes, and accessories. The one drawback for me was the rude young lady that works there. She acted as though she had some sort of attitude when my friend asked questions about the products. Several people in my group left because they felt uncomfortable with her tone. I did some research online and we walked around to another shop in the area. I'm staying right down the street and passed by on my way to dinner and decided to stop back to check out the shop. Firstly, a huge selection of shapes and sizes, but I'm a bit of a guy who likes what I like from My Father, Drew, etc. mostly Nicaraguan. These cigars are Cuban seed Dominicans which can have a wide range of flavor. The woman working asked what size I usually snake and I'm a toro guy so she showed me the 3 blend of toro. I opted for the medium bodied that has a nice smell and seemed well constructed. $12 plus tax. Well, the cigar smoked really well, had a surprising amount of flavor and was enjoyable. In an age of getting a host of amazing cigars for $12, was this part of the pack? Not for my palette, but I honestly enjoyed it more than most Arturo Fuentes I've had. I gave this place 4 stars because although there are a massive variety of shapes I get the feeling your looking at 3-4 blends overall. Very nice woman working. I came in to discover a very well run & helpful store. I could tell that that this business was customer driven. Workers were helpful and spent a good deal of time with me as I looked through the vast supply of fresh cigars. They offer self made cigar boxes that really shared the flavor of the tropics/and old Key West, along with a medium to mild cigar for me. I just wandered in looking for a casual smoke. The place is full of handmade cigars rolled from Cuban leaf that is grown in Dominican Republic by the Rafael Fuentes cigar company, which their own publicity claims in one of the largest operations, though a web search couldn't verify it's existence. It is an open air store without a humidor, and the cigars are in piles all around with some 'premium' cigars in boxes. I guess that's ok since the humidity in Key West is usually 60-75%, but it's not ideal. The proprietress was very helpful, splitting her time between showing me around and shoeing out some underage (and under financed) party boys looking for a poser smoke. Then again, one of the wingback chairs was occupied by a guy who was busy taking a video of himself smoking. I chose a handmade light torpedo, which was reasonably priced at 3 for $20. I tried one later in the evening, and it started off bitter but mellowed quickly. Decent mild flavor. The draw was medium and the wrapper burned perfectly. Sorry to say but as an experienced cigar guy I was disappointed in the quality of the cigars. Bought some Panatelas and some Reserves. Both were on the dry side and the wrappers fell apart. Too bad because I heard good things about this place. When I stopped in I asked for a Dominican Robusto and bought a few. People need to buy these cigars by the bundle so they can receive a great deal. I enjoy smoking the Island Factory Cigar because they are smooth and robust. The always give me 30 percent discount so I get these cigars at 3 dollars each. But I spend over a hundred dollars on each order. I love the petite maduro and the large Churchill. Went to this cigar shop the first thing when I arrived in KW mid December 2013. Bought a torpedo the price was $12, figured at that price better be good. Got down the street and the cigar was so tightly wrapped that it would not smoke. Took it back and they replaced it with Corona it was dry and not much flavor.
