I have been a devoted regular at Island Heron Yoga Studio for the last 6 years. Heidi Doyle has a passion for sharing the practice of yoga with the world and her studio is an absolute gem. They moved from the original smaller studio to a new larger space one block away a few years ago, and it is gorgeous - bright and roomy and very welcoming. There are a wide variety of classes offered for every yogi - from introductory to more advanced. The teachers are all highly experienced guides, and I always walk out of the studio feeling healthier in body, mind and soul. If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. :) I highly recommend trying some of their workshops too! read more

Just went to my first class on Sunday. I had Heidi Doyle as the instructor. She gave a good mix of breath work, flow and meditation. It was exactly what I needed. Heidi was comforting, informative and had a soothing presence about her. The studio is small but cozy and relaxing. There were only 7-8 people in the class which was perfect for the space. I loved the windows open and the breeze coming in from the outside. I know the studio is moving down the street and I'm looking forward to see what they do. I can see that if the class size was larger, it would be cramped. I wonder if the new studio will be bigger. Overall, great experience. I'm looking forward to going back soon. read more

The Island Heron is a beautiful, joyful community space for yogis and yoga minded individuals, right in the center of the island of Jamestown, RI. The studio itself is large and spacious with a nuanced, calming color scheme and a large variety of props for all yoga styles, skill levels and tastes. Heidi Doyle, the studio owner, is always available and teaches some of the most wonderful subtle flow classes. All of the instructors here are highly trained, compassionate teachers with much to offer within their particular area. The schedule is rich with a variety of classes as well as meditation instruction, therapeutics and an ample selection of workshops and trainings. Beautiful new studio steps away from the old one. Clean, airy and plenty of space for yogis! Love the atmosphere, and teachers. Every teacher is helpful and welcoming to all levels. Each class I am able to get the workout I desire. Yin is also a great way to unplug and relax. The class passes are reasonably priced so it allows you to go more! Okay little yoga studio in Jamestown. Their room is super tiny which makes class less than relaxing as I found myself constantly trying to not hit the lady to my left or the wall and drapes to my immediate right.... But it's a very cute place, nice instructor, and the class was a great work out. As someone who has practiced a lot of yoga, my least favorite part was the end of class, it just sort of ended. No motivational or inspiring words of wisdom or story, just Namaste. Maybe I'm just partial to the studio I grew up in. However, if you're on the island and seek a nice little yoga class, I'd go again - just get there early and claim your spot! ;) read more

While visiting jamestown for a few days I decided to give yoga a whirl. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience at this fabulous little studio. Rachael is lovely, she made me feel very comfortable she was very helpful, offering individual attention throughout the class. I also took advantage of the massage services and had the absolute best massage I've ever had. If I visit the area again I will sure to return. read more

Cozy little studio right on the main street of the island (Narragansett Ave.) Both super easy/relaxing basic classes as well as a real work out for advanced students, including heated classes. It used to be where the Jamestown Press office was but they have 100% renovated the interior and it is now one of the most calming studios I've ever set foot in, terrific use of space. I used to venture up to 40min away for classes, but now I don't even have to cross the bridge! A handful of teachers, all of whom are fantastic. read more

Walking into the Island Heron is like coming home. Small and intimate, and even though the new studio is larger, it has not lost that intimate feel. I have been doing yoga on and off for years, and though I still struggle to get into a regular routine, I am always welcome at the Island Heron even when I can sometimes go months between classes. I have never once felt out of place or intimidated. All the instructors make you feel welcome and will tailor their classes to meet your needs. To me, the best thing about the Island Heron is the strong sense of community they create. Through their classes, teachers, and workshops, I have made lasting connections and friendships on the island and elsewhere. This is truly a gem of a studio in RI. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned yogi, there is a class for everyone. read more
