Ruben is a true master of his craft. He is meticulous, knowledgeable and a genuinely great human being. His ground guy, Luke, was also wonderful, super kind and very hard working. Every cut Ruben made was thought out. He didn't just show up and start just chopping away everything. He instead was like an artist and crafted our tree beautifully for what would ensure its health and longevity. When they left, everything was so clean, it was like they were never even there. He treated our tree like it was his own. Our tree is super important to my mom, who planted it herself when her and my dad bought the house over 50 years ago. They ripped out and took away my mom's cherished Cherry Blossom Bougainvillea plant, without my knowledge, nor permission. I only found out after they left, and went into the backyard to view the cut trees. I found the yard still littered with lots of small branches, two 5-6 inch in diameter stumps, a 12 ft large cut branch left leaning against one of my bushes, along with couple of 3-4 ft branches, and a hole where my plant used to be. WHY would they pull out my plant, and take it away. It wasn't in the way of the tree trimming job. I used to love looking at that plant every morning. Now it's gone. Ruben said he would replace my plant. So far, I've waited for, as of today, it's been 42 days. He stopped replying to my emails since Oct. 2nd. It's now Oct. 27th. So you tell me, would you use this service if you have any valued plants in your yard, that you can't lock in your house for safety? Also, I paid him to remove a large Traveling Palm. They just cut it at the base, leaving one small frond. And now the "base" is back growing new shoots. Is that how reputable tree service companies "remove" stuff that you paid them for? D. Ruben from Island Trees returned my call promptly and was able to come the next day to give me a quote to trim 3 large trees overhanging my house. He sent me an estimate the same day for a reasonable price. Ruben and his two man crew arrived at the day and time he said he would and got to work right away. They were able to carefully remove the tree limbs overhanging the house that were well above the house. They worked non stop and were very professional. I have been attempting to contact him by both phone and email for over 2 weeks and have not received a reply. Either he is on vacation, or the business no longer exists, or .... ? Did a good job and cleaned up well. Could have been more aware of plants below the tree from falling branches but nothing got damaged. Also with covid 19, staff could wear masks when near customers. I had an African Tulip tree that had been a pest for years. It constantly dropped leaves and debris and I'd finally had enough. I contacted several tree companies, and Ruben from Island Trees was the fastest to call back. He came to do the estimate the same day and I was impressed with him right away. His estimate was fair, and turned out to be the lowest I received. He and his men were able to do the job within a week. They came early in the morning and got to work on the tree, I was impressed with the care they took to make sure there was no damage to my roof, or my neighbors. They roped off the big limbs and gently lowered them down. Less than three hours later, they had finished and cleaned up the debris. And this was a big tree!
