This place gets crowded really fast ! Luckily they have plenty of open seating at the bar area. The bar area also has 3 TVS in case you're planning to watch a game ! We sat twice at the bar area and the bar tenders are so nice ! They can take your drink and food orders as well. Food is pretty good, they have large burgers and endless fries. We ordered the Big Wave burger and the Pipeline Burger. The Big wave its a decent burger, its pretty plain and wasn't memorable. The Pipeline is filled with chili and cheese so it was pretty flavorful. I would recommend skipping the Big Wave and trying one of the more bold burgers. On our second trip we ordered appetizers and beers. We had the Sliders without cheese and Buffalo and BBQ wings. The Sliders were so delicious! I had so much fun eating them. They came with a side of haystack onion rings and Pickles ! Definitely try it if you're not craving a huge burg. The buffalo wings were mediocre but still fulfilling. The beers come in size small and large. On another note they're happy hour menu is really adorable! I will definitely be coming back to try it. read more

Islands used to be good, we went for dinner today, I ordered the wings, they were dry stale, my brother got the burger the bun smelled moldy, my sister in law got fries also stale, the onion rings were greasy, worst food I've ever had. We asked for the manager John, he brushed it of arguing the fact everything is fresh, his opinion I guess because he said he was in kitchen cooking with them, well obviously they can't cook. *Happy hour review*. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 4-7 Came here with Stephanie V to hit up their happy hour and boy was it decent! They do have a selection of beers and decent well drinks for $2.95. Other Island's might have difference price, but this one is cheap! If sitting at the bar tables, make sure you don't trip people, because a bit tight. If you're sitting at the bar, you are better off with full customer service. I've seen a few people bringing their books and laptops here. Must be nice while working and having a drink on the other hand. :) Tried their fries before, don't expect much out of the fries since Island is known for their burger. Their fries baskets are really big. Even the two of us couldn't kill it. It's big enough to share up to 4-5 people. Friendly bartender's and well poured drinks. I had the China Coast today which is essentially their chinese chicken salad. It has grilled chicken breast, water chestnuts, mandarin orange slices, snow peas, lettuce, fried noodles and carrots in a sesame dressing. It's good and is real filling for a salad. You cant go wrong with any of the burgers. Big wave with cheese or Malibu that has bacon are some of my regulars. The hula which has sauteed mushrooms and swiss cheese is also good. I like the makaha as well though its not on the menu anymore but you can still order it. It's their version of a chili cheeseburger. Good stuff. Island fries are great. They come unlimited with their burgers now so that's great. Cheddar fries are really good and the beachside sliders topped with caramelized onions and ketchup are really good for appetizers. Get a passion fruit iced tea or a fruit punch and you are good to go. Parking is in a typically busy shared lot. We usually get takeout during the work week and call in our order. Update: They reached out and are getting me my refund. I really appreciate that and on top of it they are giving me a gift card. I recommend not ordering from them. I ordered a delivery from their website never got the food because the company that delivered it, DoorDash. The driver dropped it off somewhere else and not to my door. The driver did not speak English so I couldn't figure out where they put it. I called DoorDash to see if I can get a refund but because I didn't pay through them. I paid island burger. Island burger has to refund it. I have tried to get a hold of them for a whole week now. I want a refund for food I didn't receive that was almost $30 out of my pocket for no food that's ridiculous that I can't get someone to do their job and get me a refund. (West of Kabuki and Bank of America Building) Came in for a quick bite before heading to Old Town Pasadena. Endless fries or onion rings or steam veggies or salad with your burger or wrap order! Maverick burger recommended. Service is slow and could lag, but they're really nice. Again, don't order tacos or wraps or other items. They're known for their burgers, so get it. The beef is really soft and juicy. If you're the type to love the end super crispy crunchy fries no one touches at the end of a mcdonald's fry frenzy with friends, these are your fries. However, I'm not a fan of the onion rings being that crispy. If it wasn't for endless fries, I would make it a 3 stars haha read more

We had (2) Malibu burgers with no mustard with meat medium , well I guess char is their medium as the burgers were not soft and my kids could not eat the burger, my wife had a chicken bowl which was the only thing that was edible here and I had a hula medium and burger was char and then mushrooms were hard and not sauteed. Fries were the nasties I have ever tried so far in my life as if they let the seasoning just drop. I still recall as a child when islands went into The shopping center at Hastings Ranch in Pasadena. At the time, the bowling alley was a hang out for old people and kids, the movie theater was alive and well, as was the movie theater right up the street. Hughes market filled the space where there's currently at Ralph's.... Or was it Market Basket? And of course, golf Smith had nothing to do with the Scottish sport; instead, there was a giant Warehouse music. Since those days, my family has been going to Islands. The restaurants menu has remained vitally the same over the years. While the name has changed, I generally order a Hawaiian burger with an extra side of their delicious teriyaki. Since islands has recently implemented their endless fries deal, there's no need to purchase the giant basket and share with everyone. The smaller amount that they bring with your burger is usually enough, but if you're feeling frisky, you can always ask for more. No charge for that, and as an added bonus you don't have to eat cold fries towards the bottom of the formerly giant baskets. My bride usually gets the wiki waki salad, and it is also good. When we can manage to abandon the kids with Grammy and Pop Pop, we also like coming here and sitting in the bar. Service is usually pretty good, and like most places, a little courtesy from the booth results in a lot of attention from the server. Really above and beyond: as a middle school principal, I went to approach the manager of islands and asked if they had any kind of promotional deal to reward good students, good student citizenship, etc. The manager gave me a giant stack of certificates for free kids meals. When a company whose goal is obviously profit even possesses anything remotely like this, it's a good sign of their stewardship within the community. Plus it's not a dumb thing to do considering that most kids don't eat alone, And parents get hungry too. One of my friends who plays the guitar wrote a song called "islands is my home." Bottomless Tortilla soup is great! The Yakki tacos are almost always good. The service is almost always good and I like the constant refills. Spent about $100 last night for my order simple Big Wave medium came out rock hard and burnt ordered the usual amazing cheddar fries which came out looking like they've been sitting in a heating lamp for over 30 minutes the bacon was soft and not edible you would expect the food to be much better due to the loss of business from covid not worse but not in this case. Ordered buffalo wings which the looked nothing like Buffalo wings they looked old and breaded to the point where the wings looked soggy. I paid $110 (which included a 20% tip) for a kids burger, two adult burgers (Hula and a Makaha), kids chicken wings, a cheddar fry, and two sodas. I've been coming to this location for 35 years, and this was probably the last time. The cheddar fries were clearly old, cold fries with melted cheese baked on top, and they tasted like fried fish. Burgers were all cold (and not the gourmet burgers we have come to expect from islands) and other fries served also tasted like fish. Wife got stomach flu next morning. Kids didn't touch theirs. The only bright spot was our server, she was great and I felt bad for her having to serve this slop.
