I always love islands for their delicious burgers (don't go as often as I'd like) so last weekend we decided to stop in, service was friendly as always. A tad slow on the drink refills TBH and they were not that busy. My "go to" has always been the Maui, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion and Swiss. This visit I don't know what was going through my head I guess I was trying to be healthy by substituting the beef with a turkey patty. It just didn't hit the same and since I RARELY eat burgers I shouldn't have messed with success! The fries always hit nicely! Very disappointing visit! Our water had no ice and tasted like it was run from kitchen sink. Male waiter was nive, apologized and brought ice. Burgers wire mediocre at best and fries were horrible and cold. We used to come here years back and it was always great so I assume lack of management is causing this substandard review. read more

Service was less than desirable went 2pm on a Thursday. 1 out of 6 couples inside, we got seated and asked if we could get just another minute looking at the menu. It took a decent amount of time for the waitress to come back. I believe her name was Gracie. We ordered and got our drinks. Food thankfully came out fast. Once we got our food we weren't checked on the entire time while eating. Not asked how everything was if we needed anything else like refills. The sad part was there was a couple in the booth in front of us that did get checked on regular which was weird why we were being ignored. I had to flag the waitress down to say we were finished eating and if we could get boxes. She came back with 2 boxes and no bag. This location is always busy but instead of waiting for a table we sat at the bar as they offer full service. Our bartender Simone was on point with the special drink we've requested. If you're in the mood for a good burger and fries, can't go wrong with Islands. I ordered the kaanapali kobb salad which was so tasty and my BF ordered the kilauea burger that came with fries. The service was excellent--friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. However, the fries were a bit too hard for my taste. Still, the veggie burger alone is worth the visit! This is a great restaurant! My family and I stopped for lunch at the Desert Ridge, AZ location. There were 5 adults and 2 kids. Our amazing server was Jordan. She was one of the best servers we have ever had. She promptly greeted us and took our drink orders. Jordan was professional, friendly and laughed with our family. If we could have invited her to have lunch with us, we would have. We decided to get appetizer when we ordered our lunch. She asked if we wanted the apps served first or along with the meal. The fried green beans were delicious. When our order came, it was delivered by the manager and two others so everybody received their meal together. Thank you. The food was hot and tasty. We have been coming to Arizona for years and have always seen this place but never been. This trip we changed that and I'm happy we did!! I had the chicken teriyaki sandwich and oh my gosh it was to die for! Service was quick and our waiter was on top of it the whole night! I'm usually a fan of Island's. From it's tropical and surf decor to it's island inspired menu, Island's mixes food and fun. This location still has tropical and surf decor. (I'm a big fan of the ceramic birds.) It even has the menu items found at all Island's restaurants. The food itself wasn't quite on par with other locations I have visited. I decided to try something from their lunchtime menu. I went with the patty melt and fries. Island's patty melt is served on sourdough instead of rye bread. There was too much bread. It was hard to taste the insides over all the outsides. Both the meat and bread were dry. Fries were what I have come to expect from Island's. Fries are cut from fresh, skin on, potatoes. Rustic in appearance, and thicker than fast food fries. read more

Sam is the bartender and takes care of the lounge area, she did a great job today I really enjoyed her personality and she was on top of everything. YeVet ( ? ) the manager stoped by to say hi. I had the Hula burger, Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and I added bacon, served on my choice and I ordered the wheat bun that was incredible. My husband ordered the BLEUNAMI burger and Kona Longboard beer, He ordered his on a white fun and he said his burger was incredible as well. Food is good and priced right. We had a late lunch on 1/14/24 and was able to take advantage of the happy hour. I had an individual serving of the tortilla soup (limitless bowls are available) and it was good, temperature wise could have been a little warmer. My husband had the chef salad and said it was really good. Mai Tais are some of the best we have had and a great price at happy hour. Service is always attentive. This Island's has some of the beat service and quickness of getting food. The two downfalls I feel it has is being in desert ridge, the parking is HORRIBLE and getting in and out during busy times, especially the weekends, is a nightmare. Secondly it is always busy. Many times tables will be empty yet you still have to wait because the host at the front is flustered, and they are too busy taking names and doesn't see which tables are open. When the waiters and waitresses have to come and tell her they have open table(s), something isn't working. But.....the food Is fresh and the staff generally hustles (we have only had bad service twice). I would also say its one of the more fresh, tasty non-bar food styles in the area. read more

I've been an Islands patron for over 20 years, having been to them back when I lived in Southern California. For the Phoenix area this is one of the few locations left and it's so freakin' far! But we were in the area and I couldn't help but stop by for my usuals -- cheese fries with a side of ranch, and the toucan on wheat bread! They've got a small kids menu which my kids enjoyed. Our server was always prompt to keep our drinks refilled. The restaurant looks like any other islands. Please open one in the east valley pHx area!!! read more

I've been coming here for about 8 years now. Always great atmosphere with tvs playing everywhere. Some playing sports, some take us to the beach for surfing views. The green everywhere really make you feel like you've stepped away from the outside world. The service is usually super awesome. I say usually because I recently had one sever who just did her job. The service was good, but it should have been great. One of our favorite servers is Micheal. He's always friendly, funny and super attentive. Ive mentioned to the manager on a number of occasions how much his team is awesome. Now about the burgers... wow!!! They are amazing. My favorite is a Hawaiian. First time trying this restaurant and our experience was good. It was tropical themed which was cool. They have big portions of food but taste was just okay, nothing special. Our favorite was this strawberry coconut smoothie! It was delicious. I ordered a lemonade at first but didn't like it. I tried my fiancé's smoothie and was hooked! I love Islands at Desert Ridge in Phoenix, AZ. My boyfriend and I somehow became easily established regulars - we love to sit in Kolby's section. He's so fun, has a great energy, orders are perfect, and he relates to everything so well. It's a pleasure to get to know him. Matt K. is up and coming and soon to be on par with Kolby! Matt is so friendly, energetic, remembered us immediately, and even though he's hosting, he works just like a server. He always comes by to say hi, joke around, and get to know us. I can't wait for him to become a server! We spoke with his manager, Paul, to put in a good word for him. Remember the staff - they make or break, and Islands' staff makes! My family and I have been coming here for YEARS. I went here at least when I was in middle school so 10-12 and now I am 29. Every single staff member has always been excellent - service is consistently amazing, atmosphere is light and fun, and the food/drinks are delicious. I love all the decorations - they have so much character. Bar seating is super quick service but honestly so is regular seating. I would lay down my life for their passion fruit iced tea - get it with an orange! I always, always get their Tiki Tenders with multiple sides of buffalo sauce (it's flavor and spice!) and a Longboarder (cheese, onion, tomato, pickles, Thousand Island dressing) on white bread. I've been coming to Islands for years, being an L.A. native, since they're all over Southern California. Known for great burgers, beers and drinks in a laid-back friendly environment. Dinner last night was great! Had the Longboard burger, son had the Maui burger, and wife had the Beach Bowl (teriyaki chicken and grilled veggies.) If you've never been to an Islands before, you may be catching the "Hawaii + surfer + tiki" vibe and naming convention going on here - lotsa of fun. See pix. In all my years coming to Islands, I don't ever remember them getting an order wrong - but last night they did. These things happen. Minor issue, my burger had the wrong sauce... I brought it to my server's attention (Emily - she was outstanding) and she walked it back to the kitchen to fix. WITHIN LIKE 3 MINUTES, I had a replacement Longboard burger, seriously fresh and hot, delivered by the manager Chris. He was professional and just had a "we'll make it right" attitude about the error. AWESOME service! Yummy yummy. I like how spacious this restaurant is and I like "Hawaiian" theme. They closed many tables to make it even more spacious since the covid-19. We had a tide? or wave? burger, don't remember the name but it's the basic burger with a side of french fries and oh my goodness!!! French fries here are so crispy and tasty. Usually, I prefer McDonald's fries over other healthier and better fries, but fries here are... too good!! And the burger was really good too. Good amount of fresh meat, cheese, and some toppings. Yum :) And the Hawaiian burger and the sweet potato fries are a thing! Huge grilled pineapple chunk and teriyaki spread made the burger even tastier.
