I had a pretty good experience here. I found and booked via Expedia and was pleasantly surprised with how clean and spacious my room was. The music downstairs in the lobby at all times though I think can def be lowered a few decibels. We don't need Pitbull blasting eardrums out at 10 am. I had to ask a few times for late check out and they kept saying they noted it down....but didn't. But was able to so for that I'm grateful because I arrived super late and was working from my room. Upstairs was pretty quiet, which was nice. I'd stay again if I'm ever in the area. read more

I wish I could give it 0 stars. Was supposed to stay here after a wedding but we showed up and were told that the bride and groom did not have a room! After showing confirmation numbers for all of our rooms, including the bride and grooms, we were still told that they couldn't give them a room, nothing could be done, and that they just couldn't stay at the hotel. Even when there was a sign on the front desk mentioning the wedding! When originally told they didn't have a room, obviously the bride was upset. And the worker at the front desk immediately called security ??? Multiple officers and security showed up to be a part of the situation. Multiple people tried to talk to the worker and explain the situation. Worker would not listen and kept saying "the bride was rude and there's nothing I can do, you guys cannot stay here." Eventually one of the security officers had to butt in and apologize for the situation because all the worker was telling us was that "the bride was rude." Hello? It is her wedding day is she not allowed to be upset?! Anyway. It was all stupid and ridiculous. Majority people chose not to stay there due to the situation. You're really telling me the whole hotel was booked? And you had to ruin their wedding out of spite? Do better. read more

My daughter and I stayed here last month while visiting the Lost Island Theme Park and Water park. After a long day at the water park, we checked into our room, which was easy and fast. I wish there were parking spots closer for people unloading their luggage. I saw the valet spot and the handicap spots, but nothing close other than their normal, parking lots. The room was clean and the bathroom was nice. When I come back to Lost Island, I would definitely stay here again. read more

My room upon arrival had a wad of hair and candy wrappers in the entry way. The top sheet, blanket and 1 pillowcase had stains on them. When I got replacements from the front desk, they were stained also. There was also a glob of hair under the sheets...disgusting. No coffee pot, no room service, only 3 hangers in the closet, something nasty stuck on the shower wall that I had to scrape off and bare walls. I feel totally ripped off for what I paid for a junior suite. I will never book at this hotel ever again! read more

Stayed on a Saturday night. On Tuesday my card was charged $647.00. Called on Thurs to ask what it was for. Said they d look into it and call back. I had to call back the following Tuesday as still hadn't heard anything. Come to find out they said we cracked the TV even though we never saw a Crack. Asked for proof and the gal said they could not send pictures or anything else. What a joke. What your cards as they will charge you and not provide any proof. Anyone ever have this happen before??? A few weeks ago we took the boys to Lost Island in Waterloo. We decided to stay at the Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo next door. Everything was great with our stay until it wasn't....my boyfriend discovered he had a charge for over $600 on his card from the Isle. We tried to figure out what it could possibly have been from. We ate dinner and breakfast there and those charges were on there. Our stay was on there too. So he called this week to find out.....apparently they are saying we cracked a tv in our room.... Not offering proof or anything, apparently we'd need a subpoena to even get a picture from their security. No email from them stating they were going to charge us or what the charge was from. Like WTH??? I have so many questions... How often do they thoroughly check the rooms for damage? Who's to say someone else did it and they checked after us? What about maintenance/housekeeping,etc? Why didn't someone inform of us of a charge? Why will they not let us see "proof" of said damage? How do we even trust what they have to say at this point? We literally went to our room, went to dinner, went swimming, went to bed, and then went to breakfast then water park after....the boys were NEVER left unattended in the room and we certainly didn't break a tv, FFS! We stay at hotels almost monthly and we've NEVER had any issues. I'd think twice about staying at this place, they are liable to rip you off! read more

Worst casino in Iowa. Was a seven star until I lost my room keys after checking in one evening and not realizing it. I got a phone call that someone had been in my room and trashed it. Was banned from property, host did nothing for me. Months later new head of security looked at the footage and realized I had never actually been to my room and was not in the casino or the hotel that whole entire evening. I'm allowed to go back and play at one of the worst slots ever! Can not use the hotel though. Personally don't understand that. Tried calling the hospitality manager, never answered or returned call. Would never recommend this casino to anyone. I have gone back a handful of times just to loose every time. Very dirty place. Won't be long and the place will be bankrupt. Save your money and go to Tama, DSM, or Riverside. Before long Cedar Rapids. Will update this if anything is ever done yet I have a feeling it will be updated with no resolution. read more

Stayed in hotel last night, clearly was not cleaned period. Still items under the bed from the last guest(s). Shower and bathroom were repulsive with gobs of hair, dirt, grease in the shower and shower drain. The carpet looked like a dog had chewed it and scratched up the door. No coffee in the rooms, I've never seen this horrible of a room even in the cheapest of hotels. Whole hotel even the non smoking room REAKED of smoke. I was going to take pictures and blast them but just decided I will NEVER stay here again. Bedding and towels were stained horribly and drunks next door running in the hallways and through the wall all night long. Worst stay at a hotel I've ever experienced. I call ed last minute to see if they had any rooms available for my disabled sister and they were 100% helpful with getting us checked in and allowing us to stay as long as we needed. we were having an emergency and needing a place to stay for a few days with all the flooding. a couple nights turned into quite a few and the staff never complain . we didn't have to switch rooms or anything. so thanks and we really enjoyed our stay!!! read more

Bathroom floors were dirty (pee spots around the toilet, old dust around the edges, looks like shower wasn't scrubbed before us), we extended our stay and the maid woke us up trying to slam open our door a half an hour before checkout (yes we told management), I guess I don't know what I was expecting for a casino hotel. The casino had a policy only one drink every 20 min per person. Not sure if that's normal. The bartender at the casino bar we very rude and was spacey or incompetent, not sure. The Isle isn't just a casino; it kinda is like a tiny ecosystem of neat commercialism stuff. There's the Lone Wolf bar (with food), a pool/hot tub, fitness center, Otis & Henry's Bar and Grill, and the Farmer's Pick Buffet food area - plus the casino floor of course. All of this is in a single (quite large) building that offers valet service as well with close-by, huge parking lots. If you feel like a tiny bit of a drive, the area's only good outdoor waterpark (Lost Island) is literally down the street. Customers: My companion was surprised by the customer make-up here. I guess he's used to large-town casinos. Almost everyone here is an older, retired-age person. You'll run into a lot of 65+ people here. On the bright side, it seems that the Isle knows this, so there are free wheelchair uses, wide space areas for wheelchair use, and a three-elevator system which meant no waiting for an elevator. Room: The room was probably the disappointment of my stay. I'm not entirely sure what was going on with the room, but it wasn't as high-of-quality as I was hoping for. Our two-bedroom queen room had two beds, a gorgeous walk-in shower (with a seat) as well as a mini bar and a TV. There was a courtesy shelf in the mini bar fridge, but it was honestly about the length of a macaroni & cheese box, and it only fit two soda cans in it. Smallest one we've ever seen. The TV was usable, but it was about 32" in size. I imagine their draw is for the casino as entertainment, so I doubt they foresee you using the TV often, but it was still an oddly-small TV. The biggest issue were some of the random small things about the room. The carpet was damp and squishy when we checked in. There was a panel missing off the wall that exposed wires. There were some stains on the outside of the toilet that were either blood or something else. There were some clumps of food (protein bar?) underneath the dresser lip. Aside from those things, the room was entirely useable. I checked for bedbugs (clear!) like I normally do. The mattresses, while not uncomfortable, were odd. They were hard to get in and out of - like the interior of the mattress had actually curved in. The view was of the top of the neighboring building. Not exactly scenic - though I imagine rooms NOT on the 4th floor don't have that problem. The Isle is tall and will overlook some of Waterloo from the upper floors. I'll make that request next time when I book. Casino: The casino itself was decently large and fun. We went on a Wednesday night, and almost all of the live tables were closed or had no one at them. It could just be the weekday, but the "action" at this casino seems to be in the slots. TONS of shiny slot machines everywhere. Lots of smoking going around. It's actually weird to be in an establishment that still allows smoking indoors. However, it didn't *smell* smokey - and as a child who grew up around two smokers, I tend to be pretty attuned to it now. According to the signage around the property, the air is entirely recycled in the casino room every 11 minutes to prevent smoke smells. There is a non-smoking area, but it was entirely abandoned. As you can imagine, this means the hotel itself offers non-smoking and smoking rooms too. We had a non-smoking room and had no issue with any smell of smoke. We ended up playing slots and ended up making a tiny bit of money, so it was a worthwhile casino experience overall. Food Options: We went to The Lone Wolf, but we didn't visit the other restaurant options. The Lone Wolf was a good bar, and it was super friendly and laid-back. We sat at the bar during their Happy Hour for $1.50 bottled beer. The bartender was friendly and prompt, and I was tempted to try their food (but didn't end up doing so). The only odd thing was when we inquired about a Mudslide and the bartender said she'd never made one and would have to consult a recipe in the back. She was happy to make one for us and said she'd be happy to remake it if we weren't happy with it. Very friendly bartender. We also ended up getting drinks inside the casino floor as well. That was odd. We let the bartender pick out her pick of alcohol for a shot. Except she had put ice in the shot. It seems like it kinda defeats the point. Pool/Hot tub/Fitness Center: The hot tub is located very close to the pool (with a view of the pool), so it's easy for adults to sit in the hot tub while their children play in the pool and still keep an eye on them. The fitness center was entirely abandoned both times we went. They have a weight machine in the corner, two treadmills, a recumbent cycling bike, two ellipticals, and a dumbbell rack with mirrors to watch form. Not a huge little area, but it was totally manageable for working out - and seems pretty ignored. For some odd reason, the Isle requires that you wear a yellow wristband (think "waterpark admission" band style) to use the fitness and pool area - in ADDITION to having to use your room key to actually get into the area. read more

The winnings were decent, not great but just average. The rooms were not bad but need to be updated. The thing that really aggravated me was the resort fee they don't tell you about on Expedia when you book. I got another charge for $26.88 on my card. I called and they explained it is their policy to add 8.99 per night resort fee on top of the room rate. I was not told this when we checked in. Just keep that in mind when booking. Not a huge deal but they should roll that into the price, because adding it on in a hidden fee after you check out just seems dishonest to say the least. I called this morning and they got my players club number. The lady said they would see what they can do. I doubt I will hear back from them but at least anyone reading the review will know what to expect and know to factor this in before deciding to stay somewhere else. For the money we could have stayed somewhere a little nicer had we known about the hidden fees. read more

I have only gone to the casino portion and it was a great time! I went with a couple of my friends around 1pm on a Saturday and we all sat at an open blackjack table. I knew the basics of blackjack but there was a lot more to it than I had realized! Our dealer was so nice and friendly and helped teach some of the strategies in blackjack. After a bit a manager came over and gave us a little card with basic blackjack strategies! Overall it was an awesome experience where the people at the Isle really tried to help us learn and make us feel comfortable and welcome even without extensive knowledge of the game. read more

Upon checking in, I made the obvious and asshole-ish mistake of quipping to my traveling mates (with a cheerful shit-eating grin on my smug face), "I've been to Capri, and this place looks nothing like it". The receptionist rolled his eyes heavenward upon overhearing my douche-baggery, and probably gave me probably the shittiest room in the building. But even the shittiest room really wasn't that bad. Luxuries abound with the fairly comfortable King sized bed, mounted flat screen TV, marble-ish showers, spacious rooms, and free Wi-Fi. Passing through on my way to MN and scooped up a room for the night. Beat down from the drive, was happy I didn't have to leave the hotel once I got there. Had everything I needed. Had dinner and drinks at the restaurant (Brew Brothers) which was amazingly good. Got a margherita pizza, added jalapeños. Definitely hit the spot. Casino was nice, staff and locals were friendly. Room was super quaint, the bathroom was updated and spacious. Only complaint is the bed wasn't that comfy. Cute hotel, beautiful setting. Will definitely return next year! read more

I have to admit the place was much nicer than I expected. I was expecting tragedy a la Foxwoods in Connecticut. In town to visit the bf's family for Xmas, we were happy to have another diversion in a town with few of them. So, last night we headed over to The Isle. The lobby just passes the line above tacky. In the lobby are a Starbucks, a Pizza Hut/KFC Express and the entrances to their buffet and casino. Within the casino is also a fairly cool looking lounge area with live music. I discovered a few things while we were there: [1] They are super chintzy on the vodka in their drinks and they ain't free, while you're playing, like they are in Vegas or the Caribbean. [2] I can lose $100 at Blackjack quicker here than I have anywhere else I have gambled. Poof! Gone! Bye bye money!! [3] I am so proud to have eight and a half months under my no smoking belt! Despite not being terribly crowded it was super smokey in there. When we got home I was able to smell the smoke on my shirt and could not wait to get it off of me. So, if it cost me $100 to see that (in California it is hard to come home smelling like smoke) that is ok by me! read more

Nice, oversized rooms. Typical casino hotel rooms with nice fixtures, large bathrooms with walk-in showers(with a bench to sit on in the shower). Beds were a little firm for my liking but had all white linens and a variety of 4 pillows. Rooms also have nice wooden fixtures, unique wall art, nice entertainment center, fridge, safe, small sitting area, and a nice work space. Hotel has a nice indoor pool complete with palm trees, lots is seating and an interesting light display. Several restaurants on property(only 2 were open on my visit due to Covid)and water park nearby. Not close to the city, but city is easily reachable by car. And of course the casino is downstairs complete with sports book, table games and the usual slots. read more

Rooms are clean and bigger than average. Beds are very comfortable. Towels are clean and relatively high-quality. Shower heads are good. Air conditioning functions well. Elevators are fast. The steakhouse is very good and relatively cheap for its quality. They'll bring a mini-fridge to your room (no charge) upon request. Late checkouts are easy to get for 12:30, sometimes 1:00 is permitted. Security is somewhat feisty about preventing intoxicated gamblers. I had one beer at dinner and was pulled aside for a sobriety-check (friendly and no problem). The poker room is upstairs and has high-stakes pot-limit Omaha (5/10 high and high-low) every Tuesday at 1:00pm, 1/2 HOE on Friday, and Big-O (five card PLO8) on Saturday. The games run all night. The dealers and floor are highly skilled and friendly. They have auto-shufflers and Paulson type poker-chips. It's a small room with a luxury bathroom 20 feet from the tables. They offer comps to poker players for food and drink. Hotel rooms are $19.00 to $39.00 per night for poker-players, depending on the day, and they'll give you two nights at the discounted price. Valet parking is fast, free, and honest. Free wireless-internet is usually very good. read more

Having several choices of hotels in the Waterloo area, I selected the Isle expecting it to be a step above the average hotel and would have more security around. Boy was I wrong! After parking about 30 yards away from the entrance because the front is all handicap parking, I checked in and went to my room. The room was filthy upon entry and just taking a quick glance so I called the front desk and asked if I could come to the desk to get some sanitizing wipes. "Sanitizing wipes?" replied the man at the front desk. "We don't have sanitizing wipes." After having to explain to him what a sanitizing wipe is - he sent a housekeeper to my room with a bottle of "spray" so I could clean the room. The phone I picked up to call had chunks of dust in the cradle and dried pizza sauce or something all over the receiver. Obviously it had been some time since even the phone was wiped off. So the housekeeper sprayed some stuff around and called it good. I ended up going to the store to buy Lysol wipes - when, in retrospect, I should have just gone back to the desk and checked out. Anyway, ONE swipe on the dresser top resulted in a blackened wipe. The carpet was worn and covered in stains. The beds were old, lumpy and uncomfortable. This casino hotel doesn't have microwaves in the rooms!! There is one community microwave on each floor. This thing has never seen a housekeeper!! And the tile floor was so sticky my shoes were sticking to the floor. Leaving at 4:30 am to go to work was the worst part. Taking the elevator down to the lobby - and there is not a SOUL around. That great big casino - not a person at the desk, not a person in the casino - it was very weird. But I had to walk out in the total dark, not a security person in sight - about 30 yards to get to my car. Very scary. I went back to the hotel at lunch and asked why I couldn't park in the parking lot directly out front (that had less than 10 cars in the whole lot) for safety reasons, I was told that lot is only for people who gamble and have a high level of play. I explained that I was a hotel guest and I don't gamble and that I was in town for business and that I have to leave very early in the morning and their parking lot in not secure. The lovely lady at the front desk simply did not care and refused to accommodate me. My best advise - DO NOT STAY HERE!! Actually, don't even bother to gamble at this horrid place with horrid staff. It's filthy, gross, its not sanitized, the staff is awful. They don't deserve the business. Save your money for a more quality and deserving business. read more

Ever since the Chicago m*b took over the casino it has gone downhill. I hear alot of complaints about not being able to win anything. I truly believe they use the facial recognition just like a card to keep track of who's who. And they can turn a machine on to win or lose at their choosing. Alot of regular players dont even go anymore to the isle, they go else where. Also, there are never any servers on the floor during the day, you have to put service light on to get anything. They have had issues with bed bugs. And in the community I've heard people call it The drug hotel. I also have talked to a couple of people that use to work there...I think they need to have A Review from the gaming committee. But don't know what good that would do. read more

My roommate and I went to play some slots tonight. We drove up from Cedar Rapids and valeted my car. After a couple hours we decided we were done. The games were fun. That isn't why I am giving the 2 star rating. The valet was prompt in bringing the car up and I tipped him $5 and said thank you. When we got in my car it smelled so awful we gagged. It was cold outside tonight, but we had the windows rolled down to try and air it out. It still smelled when I pulled into the garage an hour later. So, right now my car is in the garage with the windows rolled down, with the hopes that it will have the awful odor gone by morning. Now, if you are going to be getting in and out of guest's cars, please, for the love of everything holy, take a shower. Then put on some deodorant. Visiting my wife's family from California, we needed a child free night away. The Isle was just the place for us! We had no problem from parking to settling into our room. We had a suite with a giant tub, which was great! We ate at the Brew pub, we ordered lots of appetizers and had a nice, relaxing, dinner. We then proceeded to support the casino, financially, by forking over a good amount of dough! All is all it was a great experience and highly recommend to any visitors, or even a couple parents that need a night away! Thanks for the hospitality! read more

I have stayed here for work multiple times and decided to leave a review. Firstly, most of the waitresses/bartenders in the casino are rude and short. Takes quite some time just to get a drink. Second, the buffet and steakhouse they advertise is only open on weekends; leaving you with Brew Brothers. We were told at BB that we had to sit at the bar to eat, while there was 8 tables open, due to not enough staff. Last, we lost all hot water and lights on our floor. When we called the front desk, they offered nothing other than "Nothing we can do, is there anything else we can help with?" Going forward we will just stay in Cedar falls at a name brand like Hilton. Hilton would have gone above and beyond to correct any situations like these. read more
