Second Bind is a business that has prided itself on buying textbooks from anyone that has them…read more They are extremely honest and handle themselves very well. Their office can be a little difficult to locate as the building's main occupants are on the outside of this building, once you park and go up to the 2nd floor of the building, look around the corner and you'll fine this little gem. After coming back from university and spending thousands of dollars on textbooks, it's actually difficult to find something to do with them. All I had to do for Second Bind was e-mail them with the ISBN numbers of all my textbooks, not even from the last four years of university, but from back in high school as well. Once they received the ISBN numbers, within a number of days, they e-mailed back the prices associated with each of the textbooks that they'd be willing to buy back. You go to the store, (and I believe they now have a free shipping option), I gave them the textbooks, they wrote me a cheque and I had money in the bank! I'm seriously truly impressed with how these individuals have operated, how hassle free it is, how they buy the textbooks back at a reasonable rate. Far better than selling it back to the universities for a nickle or throwing them out, give Second Bind a try. They make the community better with what they do, they not only help you out but they help others out as well.

The inventory changes regularly, so frequent visits are key if you're on the hunt for hidden gems.

I couldn't get it from Indigo unless I either found a copy at locations other than my local one, or ordered it for home shipping for a fee. I finally found it available on the shelf at Cornerstone Bookshop. Their website is very user friendly. The extent of information provided and the friendly tone made it a pleasure to use. I was able to place my order for pickup, and could even defer payment until coming in at the store to pick it up. I was also able to add notes, where I could indicate that someone else would be picking it up on my behalf. I got my order confirmation immediately, and the notification that it was ready for pickup within a few hours. I was concerned about parking as it's near Yonge St. on Finch Ave. W., but that was no problem because they have their own private parking. There are also side streets that allow parking not too far away in case you want to avoid Yonge St. completely or it turns out to be full. My husband completed the pickup easily and quickly. Also, for some reason, the price was $24.99 instead of $28.99 everywhere else. I wish I lived closer to them, or that they had other locations. Compared to the miserable experience I've had looking for and shopping at Indigo recently, I'd shop here exclusively if I could. Highly recommend this retailer.

As such, a student on a tight budget may appreciate Unitext-The Student's Bookstore. Serving the York University and Seneca College student community for approximately ten years, it offers textbooks at a bit of a discount to the actually publisher's price. The bookstore is large and usually has just about any book based on course numbers and lists for the current year (an easy way to find what you need). I've been to Unitext several times in my undergrad days and consider the bookstore A-OK in terms of saving money in comparison to new books at the campus bookstore. The prices at Unitext are about $10-$15 less than those at the university if the books are in good shape, and about $25 cheaper if they are in worse condition. (Highlights and such) All in all, every little bit helps when you're paying for school, so there are some deals that are worth the trek up to York U!

amazing variety and choice of russian language books!…read more russian classic and modern authors, translated foreign literature, fiction and non fiction. and even though the store looks tiny there are plenty of books on the shelves. and if you couldn't find the book you were looking for you can always order online with no additional fee for shipping/delivery from russia, as long as you pick it up at one of the knigomania's stores. very friendly staff to booth.

With the new renovations, this centre is looking promising…read more The food court itself has decent options. The lighting, I'm not sure if it's intentional but has bright a darker areas. You could say there are also communal tables. One thing I'm not a fan of is I can't see what's in the other side of the food court from one side to another. I would like to see all my options at once. Also, it would be good if the stairs on north side from the food court would allow me to get to second level (upstairs). The shops seem to show some promise with Miniso and Dollarama. Keep adding interesting shops and food options and I could bump it up a star.
